Losing Your Mind

Well, have you ever doubted your sanity? This morning I was at my parent's house, and my dad was having trouble with his cell phone. The battery was constantly dying, and this morning he couldn't hang up a call. I mean he pushed end, but the phone would not hang up. He'd try to turn his phone off even completely, and it would not turn off. So he sits down beside me, and if you remember, he's completely deaf in one ear. My mom is in the corner of the room (my mom has dementia for those that don't know). He takes the battery out of the phone and he c ocks his head. My mom is laughing a weird laugh, making noises I guess people make when they have lost their mind. A look comes into my dad's eyes and all of a sudden it occurs to me he's hearing my mom's noise, but doesn't know what it is. So I say, "Dad, the noise is mom." He got this relieved look on his face and said, "Oh thank the Lord. I was thinking, how can a phone work without a battery? And I started doubting my sanity." Which sent me into a fit of giggles.
