This discussion was prompted by a friends previous discussion. Now this ia about those toll fee numbers we see on packages of various products we buy daily. Now what I want to know is, do you ever call these numbers? Was it mainly to complain about missing items, damagaed goods, or have you ever called just to let the company know that you really liked the product just to praise them on a job well done? This occured recently for me. Both ends of the scale. I had a box of Tuna helper from General Mills that the bag containing the noodles was not sealed properly causing them to sopill out into the box. I called with my complain and they sent me a coupon for one free box of Tuna helper along with a one dollar off any one General Mills product. Then I called Hungry jack just a minute ago telling them how much I love their Buttermilk pancake mix. they said they would be sending me out 2 coupons for free products. So do you ever call and praise a product or just to complain? Or have you never called? Thanks for sharing. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I called about a Lipton product, and they sent me loads of coupons. I find that most manufacturers will bend over backwards to please you. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call. I have to admit that I've never called just to tell them I like something. I'll try that, sounds like you came out ok. Thanks

I have e-mailed companies trying to locate their products where I live. The result is usually the same, coupons. Hubby has called some places and received free products, including water filters and special light bulbs. It pays to make your voice known.

It is good for the company. They love loyal customers. Especially the ones that call with praise of their product(s). HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No, I haven't ever called to give praise but I really should do that. I had a problem with some cheese having plastic in it and I emailed the company and they sent out some free coupons.

LOL...but most of the time they do make things right with you!

Good for you for giving a company praise! Plus getting something in return for it, that you didn't even expect. No, I can't say that this is something that I have done. Maybe if I had spare time on my hands like you do being retired, it might be something that I would take up doing! ;)

I have written to companies to complain and to compliment. The sad thing is that we seem to get better coupons when we complain. I get maybe a 25 cent coupon if I compliment but a free item coupon by complaining. Doesn't make sense. But yes I do compliment as well.

What a great idea Grandpa Bob. How often we are quick to call and complain but not often do we think to call and praise. Just look at the rewards you recieved for giving them a little consideration. Happy New year Bob and a better year to you and your family.

Probably I have very rarely called companies to praise a product. However I do thank stores who have sold me something very good. I have also emailed places such as bakeries thanking them for making gluten free breads. I sometimes thank cooks in resturants if I am really impressed with their meal.

I recently called Lever with a Skippy peanut butter complaint. I seldom call a company for any reason. There are products I like as well as don't like. You make a good point about praising a product rather than calling with a complaint.

The companies like the compliments a lot as it shows they are doing their job well enough. Plus they like to reward loyal customers. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi Bob. I do call companies when I have a complement as well I will call if I have a complaint , I feel that if I can complain I can complement just as easy, and besides I think a company needs to know if they are doing a good job or not a good job.

What a nice idea, to call and let them know you like something instead of only calling when there's something wrong! I think I'm going to keep that in mind and give a call of thanks when I really like a product. I think anyone would appreciate being told when they do something right for a change instead of only when they do something wrong. I know that's how I felt when I worked for the post office. When someone actually took the time to thank me and tell me I did a good job it just made my day. The people that work for these companies are probably the same way. Annie

I've called exactly 2 seperate times, both to complain. hmmmmmm...maybe I should call a number just to let them know their product is awesome. Maybe they will send me a few coupons as well.

I do it all the time - tell them if I like or dislike or was disappointed in a product. I usually do so by email and at least get a response back and sometimes even coupons in the mail or free items - bonus!

i usually do a bit of both.i will ring up a store and tell them about an employee that has been very nice and helpful as i feel that they need to be thanked.most of the time i will complain about a product or services, because the way i see it you pay good money for things and if they are bad or ruined they need to know.sometimes it is the way that a particular store may handle their products, and then the company can look into correcting the problem.getting a few freebies on the way is a bonus.cheers sue
