What do you think about making a kitty litter facial mask?

I've heard about this more than once but have been listening to the Ellen show and she had a woman on who has written a book with all kinds of beauty secrets of the stars. You're supposed to put water in the litter to make a paste and put it on your face to exfoliate. I don't know if I could do this. It's one of those things where a product has a specific use and I'll only use it for that reason. Not to mention...kitty litter???? Would you use kitty litter on your face? Do you think it would actually work? Do you sort of go "ewwww" when you think about it even though it's in a bag and not used...lol...?

I am not sure if I can do it. I use natural pine litter...he, he...would not work. In general, it is crazy. You can exfoliate with table sugar as well, at least taste better....

I don't think I would. I would have to be pretty desperate to do it. Kitty litter has a lot of chemicals in it that I would not want on my face. Who knows, maybe someday I would be desperate enough to try it!

Not only the chemicals which they never mention but just the idea. I associate kitty litter with kitty poop...lol...and a litter box so why would I want to put it on my face?

i can't do it. I've been trying to sit here and think that it might be ok...but i can't. kitty litter goes in the box and that's it. that's like w/ pads....i've heard people say they make mirrors shine good. well, i'm sorry, but i can't do it. the pad was made for a purpose, and that doesn't include washing my windows. ROFL!! can you imagine seeing someone wiping their windows w/ pads....let alone walking around w/ kitty litter on their face! there would be a neighborhood powwow about committing the person for sure. lol. who knows what could be next.

No, I will use oatmeal, and other food products. If I want a clay mask, I will buy one in a tube that has fragrance, and moisturizers. I have seen what happens when kitty litter gets wet.

I've used oatmeal, egg whites, honey and other food products too and for some reason that doesn't bother me. At least they have a better smell than cat litter which we associate with a litter box!

I feel the same way...I'm always looking for new ways to use existing products but kitty litter just turns me off. Even using the uncented and not deodorized as they say it still has that cat litter odor to it I'm sure and I don't know if I want that on my face.

Well, as long as it's clean litter LOL. Sure, I'd give it a go. When I was younger I would try all kinds of beauty treatments, some were a bit strange. Now, I'm just letting time march across my face LOL.

what!!! I am like ‘come again’ and then I see the pix you have attached and I see a bag of cat litter and I think so someone actually collects cat litter and sells it. What will people think of next and what stranger things will I come across while at Mylot! Here in India, we think of cat litter as poison. A cat always covers its litters and we like to think that’s coz the cat knows that the litter is extremely poisonous. OK no litter is exactly perfume but cat’s vomit, litter, saliva are thought of containing poisonous substances which should not be kept in the open. So it is believed that God has given the cat enough sense to covers its dirt and the cat will always do that. And to think that somewhere people are actually collecting, packing and selling it and some people are using it as beauty treatment.

yes at reading this discussion i went EWW. lol But it might work cuz kitty litter is made outta clay i think and clay is supposed to be good for you skin i think. But im sure you can find something else cheap that you can use on your face besides kitty litter. And your right kitty litter has only one use and its for the cats. And drying up oil spills i guess to. Not something You would use on your face.

The only other use I would entertain for kitty litter is to keep a bag of it in my trunk, I throw it under the tires when stuck on ice. And when I see how it melts and grips into the ice...I don't think I want that on my face. Talk about a Chemical Peel...LOL

This is groose. I definately won't use that, because of the main reason that is groose. I don't use masks anyway, but I don't trust this method. I don't think is reliable, not even for 10 percent of what it says it does. I don't belive this kind of things. Why do people need to invent this kind of things, talk about all kind of groose methods?

It does work actually, I have used it before and it feels nice on your skin. You don't make a paste unless you want to, the method I use is mixing a couple of tablespoons of cat litter with enough water to cover, mixing it and heating it in the microwave for about 10 seconds. You then apply the water that is in the mixture to your face, the granules of cat litter can tear at your skin, then you leave it on for about 10 minx max. you wash it off then moisturise. simple, and if it helps you can add essential oils to it to make it smell nice. This is super cheap, and will help you save a bit of money.

I have tried this before, and it does actually work very well. I'd just like to point out that you obviously don't use kitty litter that your cat has used, you buy fresh cat litter and use that. You add it to water, and mix it up, then put it in a microwave for about 10 seconds so it is warm, then apply the water that is in it to your face, not the actual litter. This feels great, and if it helps you to not focus on the litter add some essential oil to it. Times are tough, and this will save you Alot of money.

Well, I believe that it is made from exactly the same kind of clay that you probably buy at great expense in a jar for face packs. However, I think I would be a little wary of using it because it may not be as well refined as the stuff sold as a beauty preparation. If it came to it, would you dig clay out of your back yard to use as a face pack?

The thought of it turns me off completely. Not for Me I don't care for the idea at all even though the kitty litter hasn't been used. Something that is supposed to come that close to that end of a cat isn't something I want on my face.

I couldn't do this. In fact I have never heard of it. Sounds rather extreme to me. I have kitty litter for my cats, & seeing it there knowing they do poos & wees in it, would put me off using it for any other purpose. Admittedly, I am sure one is meant to use clean litter, but I still can't imagine myself going to that extreme.

It wouldn't bother me at all to use kitty litter as a face mask if it had been reported to help some problem that I had with the skin on my face. The kitty litter has no bacteria or anything in it and many of the types have clay in them and clay masks have been used for years.
