t had a conversation with paypal and I thought that the rest of you would like to know what they just told me, all the money that you are making and putting into your paypal account, unless you give them your banking information you can not use anywhere, they will not let you use it at ebay or with the new plug-in that they have, unless you give them your banking account numbers, she did tell me that no site is secure in the fact that someone can not get into the site to get to your banking info that is attached to your account, when I ask her why I could not get the plug-in to download she said because you have not added your bank account numbers to your paypal account and you can not use this money that is in your account any where until you add a bank account to your paypal account, the only other thing they can do is transfer the amount of money you have earned online back to the merchant (Mylot) that you earned it from, but other than that you can not use it at all. Now I believe that is the reason the lawsuit I read is going on, I just thought it was someother bunch of cra*p where someone got mad because things did not work out their way, but it is being brought against paypal because they have th legal right to close down your account at any time they want for no reason or any reason. She ash me why I didnot want to add a bank account to my account at paypal and I told her my son set up an account with them to be paid for the work he was doing as freelance, and all the money disappeared and she said yes it happens, what is that to mean, if you read their 37 pages of user agreement it states they are not responsible for the funds in yor account or if somene does get in and use them you will be help accountable for the use. So all that I have done over the past 3 months is lost, I can not use it, and I willnot give them banking infomation, so any one that does not have a bank account or that chooses to not give them their information from the bank your money is gone you can not use it anywhere. So I willnot be doing any more on this site as I know it is not their fault I am not going to sit here and type all day to make nothing, it is not fair, so now I have $38.88 in an account that is useless to me, and I am pissed, and I think I have good reason to be. No where does it say to use their site that you must give them banking info, this banking infor is for them to collect fees for what you do on their site, but it say paypal is free, listen up people this is not a site to be trusted. I ask her if what I heard was true that they could close my account at any time for any reason or for any no reason and she said yes that is their option, what is that suppose to mean? So sorry guys if you don't have a bank account or choose to give them the bank info you have lost all that you have made here.

bdugas what is the matter? I have an online banking account and am connected to paypal and have had no problem at all in having them deposit my mylot earning into my online' account. its safe and so fast and so easy and all bank info is strictly confidentual and safe as it has the little keylock emblem down in the corner to assure you its safe. I have never lost one red cent since I started using paypal paying into my bank account, not ever.

Hey bdugas, I am sorry to say I don't have much info to give you on Paypal as i am pretty new to using it and haven't added my bank info either as I want to open a separate account just for online earnings. In the meantime, I use Moneybookers and got my payment just fine from them. When I signed up with them I requested a verification mail (snail mail) which came pretty quickly (the company is based in England and i live in the Caribbean) In it they ask you to log in and verify your account. Now I see you are from the USA which is good because you can request a check from them! They do take a small fee for the check but I guess that is to be expected, they also take a small fee to withdraw to the bank but it is a flat fee it seems for any amount so I guess you can let it build up first. If you are interested using them you can PM me for more info.

Their phone number is on the paypal site, I called them to ask why I could not down load the plug in they have. Can you explain to me why we can not use the money we make on sites like this, with out giving them banking information? Not one person can tell me the answer to that , we are not using the money in our checking account but the money we made here, so what do they need checking account information for.

When did that start? I have bought things off of eaby with a paypal account that does not have a checking account linked to it. I actaully have two paypal accounts one with a bank account linked to it and one without. I use the one without to buy things off of ebay all the time.

I talked to her today, I called to ask why I could not download the plug in they have for you to buy any where on line and she said because I HAD not added my checking account to the site to verify and I said don't want my checking account on here and she said then you can't use the plug in, so I said i will justlook for sites that takes paypal, so i went to ebay and tried to use it and it would not take it so I called them back and she said i told you you can not use the money in the account without adding banking info to your account, she said the only other alternative i have is for them to return the money that ihave in there back to mylot, where it came from, now you can call them or what ever that is what she told me this afternoon.

its probably the PLUGIN that requires the bank account NOT all of paypal. I've purchased items with paypal and I havent yet linked a bank account to the site. I intend to get a "paypal" only account and link that that way I dont lose my regular $$.

Sorry but I do like PayPal. I've been using it since 2001 within any problems whatsoever. They've even helped me dispute some claims I've had when there was trouble collecting funds that were due to me. Sorry for your bad experience, but mine have been all pleasant for seven years now.

well, i already know that info since the very first time i join paypal... and i don't mind giving them my bank info as i never have any problem with that... i give them the bank info that has the least amount of money anyway... if you don't want to lose your money, i can suggest you open another brand new checking account and linked it to paypal... so that checking account is special just to receive funds from your online earning (paypal)... in that way, you won't have too much money in it and if you get scammed, you won't be losing too much... just an idea... take care and have a nice day...

I set up a special saving account with a savings and loan just for getting money from paypal and I haven't had any problems. I'm satisfied with the the way they have treated me. In fact I'm even being paid interest.

there's also the benefit of earning cash back when you use their debit card - i use that instead of a check when paying my utilities - BONUS! i have used paypal since 2002 - never a problem - and since i've moved 3 or 4 times since - it's great that all i have to do is change my info when i change banks - no printing new checks...

I do not have banking info on paypal and I just used it on Ebay today in fact. I have used it several times and not had a problem. BTW If you have a friend with a paypal account linked to a bank account, transfer the money to them and they can give it to you.

Like with anything you have to make a choice in what you will and won't do. I have a PayPal account and yes, it has one of my bank accounts attached to it. We have two bank accounts...a primary and one for just online stuff. I keep very little money in it so even if anyone gets into it they are pretty limited in what they can do. As for money in PayPal, I pull it down to the bank as soon as it goes into my PayPal account...in other words I don't let it just sit there. PayPal is a free site meaning they don't charge you a fee to use their site. The whole thing of adding a bank account is to also make sure you are who you say you are and that your running a legitimate account. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I do have an account linked to my paypal account, but I really thought that it was not necessary, per se. You should still be able to use funds in the paypal account at sites where Paypal is accepted. Maybe I am wrong about that, though. Many of the problems where people lose money from accounts due to Paypal seems to be due to the following issues: Someone got ahold of, or guessed, their paypal password, they gave away information to a non-secure site, or fell for a phishing email (fake Paypal email). That is not to say it is your son's fault that this happenned to him, but there are ways to avoid it. You could set up a separate account just for Paypal, so if someone did break into it, you might lose your Mylot earnings, but not your life savings. You could also connect it to an email address you only use for Paypal. That way, it is harder for someone to guess the email address, since that would be your Paypal login as well. It also helps to have a good password for your Paypal account. So I do hope you reconsider, as I find Paypal very useful, plus MyLot is a lot of fun, so I would hate to see anyone leave because of a Paypal issue.

The money in my son's account just disappeared, no one knew where it went, paypal said they are not responsible for the money because it states in their user agreement that they are not responsible for someone getting into the site and taking your money, now this was several years ago, how they have changed I don't know, I lost money through the bank, they wanted me on online banking and said all their banking transactions was secure, we received a $10,500. check from the insurance company, and shortly after I noticed it going out in $100.'s some times $250. at a time, I tried to get them to stop the account and see what was happening, they refused as they said their site was secure, i went through a 6 month investigation for them to come back and tell me someon hacked their site and was taking the money out of people's accounts, if they can get it out of your bank account they can get it any where. What I was referring to was the people that have no checking account and racking up money in their pay pal account they can't do anything with it, so why put it in there. But apparently, I started something that all are telling me paypal is safe, I do not believe there is any site on the internet that someone can not get into anymore, I have a credit card i use and i watch it close, I am really sorry that I tried to warn people seems they don't want to know, there is a site called aboutpaypal, org that maybe someone on here should read, not referring to you but up a couple places, I hope you all never go through what I did, I lost my $38.88 so it was not money out of my pocket but what I earned on here, so let them have it if they need it that much, ebay also owns paypal that is why they try to get you to use it there, at least that way they get to keep the money. sorry if I offened you all didn't mean to was trying to help.

Can you transfer your money to someone else who has a pay pal account, set up with their bank account, then they can give the money to you, rather than lose it.

I've used PayPal for years and never had a problem. I gave them a credit card number and my bank account number. I was selling on Ebay and got paid through PayPal. When I bought something, I could choose to use either a credit card or my bank account. But, if you had money in there and bought something, it was taken from that first. I would usually have my money put in my checking account first. The only time I've EVER been charged a fee (and it was small) was with one company who paid me. There was something between them and PayPal (no agreement or something) and they didn't pay the fee - the buyer did. Other than that, there has never been one problem with them. And I've had plenty of people to pay me through PayPal.

I dont think the person you talked to is correct. LOL I use my paypal acct all the time. And I do NOT have a bank account attached to it. When I do need to deposit money in to my account. I will buy a prepaid visa card and put all the money in to my account then delete that card off of paypal. As a matter of fact I just used it to buy some clothing for my daughter this morning...there is nothing attached to it. No credit card or bank account. I have always use a bank account with paypal though up until a year ago when me and my husband got divorced and our joint bank account was closed. I havent put a bank on my paypal because I dont have a bank account at all anymore. I pay cash for everything. I to have had money stolen from me...but it wasnt online. I used my debit card at walmart as a credit card and when I signed my name the cashier took all my information from the little credit card reciept that they print off to keep in their drawers. Luckily there wasnt a whole lot of money in my bank account...and I didnt have overdraft...the card was just denied when there was no more money in the bank LOL. So she didnt get much. But because of that I choose not to deal with any type of cards....just cash...it has been working for me for a year. It sounds like you have your mind set though, so good luck! lol

Well, I never knew that. It doesn't pretain to me because I do have my bank account connected to paypal and I do withdraw my money from paypal into it. But I never knew you couldn't use your money to buy something, without your account attached. I wonder if this is something new for them, because I remember when I first started with this internet money making thing, I bought a sweater from ebay and I don't think I had my banking information attached to my paypal account. That is why I was spending my hard earned money in ebay, I didn't want to give my banking information out because I was afraid of identity theft. But I now know that paypal is pretty secure amd so I gave them my banking information. So I now draw my money out when I reach $100, which is about once a month.

There is nothing wrong with paypal...ive had an account with them for over a year and never once has it been hacked, canceled or funds mysteriously disappeared. i would have to say that your completely safe in registering your paypal account with your bank account. you have complete control over weather you want money added to your paypal account or not. i use it to store anything i actually make online. right now its at a zero balance but thats because i don't have anything in it right now. hope that helps.
