Do you shop at Costco? What do you like to buy there? We just took a trip there today and got some household items, food, and of course gas. I like shopping there when I need a large quantities of things. It is the cheapest place to buy gas also.

I love Costco! I had to let my membership lapse when I was totally broke for a while, but one of the items on my to-do list for this week is to go therre and renew. I've bought almost everything there at one time or another, except for major appliances and cars. Sometimes it's because I can save a lot, sometimes it's to have a huge size of something so I don't have to replace it so soon, and sometimes it's an impulse purchase because I came across something I'd never thought of. They recently built a new, bigger one in this neighborhood and closed the old, dirty one. I can hardly wait to get to it!

Now that you mention it, I'm sitting in a chair I bought from Costco!

I even had my eyeglass prescription filled at Costco. It was much cheaper, they have pretty nice frames there that do not cost an arm and a leg. My husband bought an office chair. Very nice chair, and it has survived my cats scratching on it. I do not know what material it is made of, but there are no shreds on it from their claws, and we have had it over five years.

My friend has a costco card so sometimes if we are having a party we will go there to buy stuff but generally speaking I don't go that often - maybe once or twice a year!

I have shopped there before and I used to buy medication there before I had medical insurance (anyone can get medicine there whether a member or not). I don't know if the 'savings' for two people quantify the paying the yearly fee but I can definately see where the savings would add up for a large family. As for gas... either Costco or BJs is the cheapest but WalMart also has competitive prices if you use the gas card (you get 3ยข/gallon off when you use the card). Thanks Zelo

The Walmarts around us dont have gas. THere are only two of us here most of the time, but we freeze things. I bought a huge quantity of canned catfood in June for fifteen dollars and I still have one third of it left. I heard on TV that prices for packaged food are going to go up another third next year so I'm going to stock my pantry now.

I want to say that I have heard of Costco but I don't even know where one may be in relation to where I live. Just what kind of store is Costco?

It is a wharehouse store like Sam's club. They have good prices on alot of everyday items becasue you buy in volume. They also have excellent prices on medicine, gas, eyeglasses, bakery goods and prescription medication.

I posted this discussion once before, did not have many responses. But I love costco. I usually buy my paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, orange juice, bread etc. It is really economical. Garbage bags are a good buy, they last such a long time, as well as coffee filters, you get like 600 for probably less than $3.00. I'm not sure if the costco's I go to sell gas. I must look the next time I go.

Not all of them do, but if they sell it, make sure you get it there, it will definitely be the cheapest place around to get it.

All I have around here is a sam's club which I guess is the same thing. I have thought about going there before but have heard you have to have a membership that you pay for. I think any store that charges you to shop there is just rediculous. That is not very good customer service in my book, i'd rather keep going to wal-mart or cvs or whereever.
