I didn't go to the Farmer's Market...

Fresh Brown Eggs - These eggs are from our free range chickens who get great joy from the spoils of my garden.
I feed the chicken's scrapes from the garden, they provide natural fertilizer which goes back to the garden, and I end up with eggs.

but I'm doing the happy dance:) As some of you know from my discussion yesterday I was supposed to be spending today, Saturday, at a farmer's market selling an abundance of cantaloupe and pumpkins from my garden as well as fresh eggs. Well, plans changed yesterday evening and I pretty much took today off as recommended by several friends when I was stressing over too much to do. So, what was it that changed my plans you ask. Well, friend of mine who first told me about the farmer's market called a friend of her's who has gone to this particular market to sell produce for the last 6 years. She also told him what I had to sell and his response was it wouldn't be worth my $15 venter fee to go - I didn't have enough and it is too early for pumpkins. He did however offer to buy all my eggs and all my cantaloupe:) Yep, 17 dozen fresh eggs and 35 sickly looking cantalope... I am one very happy gardener right now and he also said for the next 3 weeks he will buy all the eggs I can bring him by Friday evenings. Happy dance, happy dance, Faith is doing the happy dance:) And praising the Lord every step:) So tell me - when is the last time you did the happy dance? If it's been so long you can't remember please feel free to do it with me now.

Good for you. It's always nice when something goes in your favor. I am very interested to know what you sell your eggs for per dozen. Just curious. What I wouldn't give to have fresh farm eggs. I can't remember when the last time was I did the happy dance, I can hardly walk most days, seriously true. Take Care and don't spend all your money in the same place as they say. LOL

Right now I'm getting $2.00 a dozen but in the stores their getting much more. I just want to make something as last week I donated 15 dozen to homeless shelter just so they wouldn't go to waste. Money is going in 'chicken' fund to pay for feed for now. I'll do the happy dance for you or you can do the finger version - just let those fingers dance away :)

Polly's Grocery in our area is getting $3.50 for 'organic' eggs which you still don't know what those chickens have gone through - some really really horrid treatment (our chickens get spoiled I'm afraid - except the mean rooster we 'had' he mad really good chicken salad). A friend of mine's son said up in Lansing their getting $4.50 a dozen for brown eggs. I was so very blessed the day I went to the shelter - I must have had 10 people thank me while I was there. I think the biggest thrill was the fresh parsely I also took - that cook was chopping it up before the eggs were unloaded :) It feels good to be able to do for others but right now I am thankful to be able to say the chickens are feeding themselves for the next few weeks - what the eggs brought Friday will by feed for 2 months :) We have 'large egg' cartons and there are 2 hens that are laying eggs so big you can't close the lid of the carton on them. I have the information for weighing and determining what 'size' eggs they are but not bothering sorting at this time - I do know though all the brown eggs are larger or bigger though.

Well I did do a happy dance to know you donated to the shelter. The eggs won't go to waste there I'll bet. You're sure not getting much for your eggs at that price. I bought a dozen eggs on Thursday. They were just the white eggs, said large but were no biggar than most medium eggs and I paid 2.98, so I was just curious what the going price was out your way. I can understand you being happy you didn't have to go sit at farmers market all day. Take Care Good Friend.

isn't it though - this old guy is terrific, a real salesman but old farmer at the same time. He's teaching me everything he knows about the produce business, even taking me to the Amish auction where he gets most of his produce and I'm planning next year's garden with him in mind. He also asked about my pumpkins - if I'd had 50 good sized ones he would have bought them all sight unseen. I only have 40 and their mostly on the smaller size :( He did say he thinks I'd do better selling those here from the house though. I love having friends join me in the happy dance - seems forever since I've done it.

Yes, in this day and age it's hard to find people who are willing to help, share, be open and honest. Sometimes it's really difficult on me because I seem to be surrounded with a lot of 'negative' people so when those few really good ones do come in it really lifts my spirit.

WOW! Well that is good news. I am doing the happy dance with you! Of course I can't wait till my dry spell is over and we can do the happy dance for each other lol. I am going to be redoing some of my fall pumpkin ceramic pieces and see if I can get them to sell. I am also going to finish the baby fae and the teddy bear I have started. I also want to do a few fall pieces in clay and see how they do.

I know that a major part of the reason I seem to be getting nowhere is because I am not spending the time I need to with God. I know that and I am going to change that. I know that once I give Him that time He will give me what I need.

I know, I have a couple fall pieces in clay but don't have them on the web site yet - they are nothing compared to what you will do though I'm sure. I told the friend before you I've spent the whole day writing and am just bouncing off the walls right now I'm so thrilled at spending some time doing what I want to do - kicked out 3 more articles for Helium :)

Ok, been too long means you gotta do it with me :) Here's the secret - I spent 2 hours yesterday digging in the bible looking for an answer to a question here on myLot. I honestly think that God wanted me to take that time and when I did He rewarded me. I took today off and wrote 3 articles all on gardening :) from the heart, no work, and loved it. LOL didn't even get out of my PJs until after 1:00

Wow. GOod thing that you didn't waste your money doing the vendor thing at farmer's market and in the process had someone buy all of it from you. Two birds with one stone kind of thing. Pretty cool. Besindes selling stuff of yours, doing anything else to make money and besides on here that is. I also wanted to know of the money that you are making on here, you very happy of what you get each month from mylot? I'm also a member at ehow.com but not happy with what they give me. It's ok to do in order to get some money in the process but on here, you get way more money depending on how many you do and if you do it on a daily basis. My goal on here is where I would be able to live off of the check getting from this place. YOu able to do that or no?

I am very happy with what I earn here on myLot but I see no way that it would ever be enough to live off. You would have to have a lot of active referrals to do that and I'm afraid I have very few of either. I do love it here though and have made lots of great friends from around the world.

One lady on here who did over 4000 of posting said that she made really good money with this place and they only use the check she gets on here in order to live off of. She didn't answer me yet but I do believe that there is a way to be able to live off of getting the money on here of doing this. As I said, market yourself more and you will get more referrals added to your money pot on here. Make a blog and list your referral link and join other places. I join lots of places and already posted one already.

I'd sure like to know how that lady does it. I have a blog and have my link posted in several places. I also promote on several different sites and have a couple different web pages that are designed just for promoting myLot. I do have several referrals but most of them never did anything at all, no posts or anything, didn't even accept my friends request.

That's great that he bought all your eggs and cantaloupes. You sold all your stuff and didn't even have to go out to the farmer's market. I would try to get him all the eggs you can for the next 3 weeks too. Oh, and I'm not really sure when the last time was that I did the happy dance. LOL

Thats so wonderful. There is nothing as good as fresh grown produce or fresh eggs. I am glad that you are happy and he will be happy too. Its so nice when blessings work out like this. My son loves cantelope if he gets near it , it disappears fast. I should really grow it for him lol I would need a huge crop...

Oh your son would love it here right now - we still have 20 or so cantelope we're eating on daily. This was so funny - grandson and granddaughter have helped me in the garden from day one from picking rocks to shelling peas. Couple weeks ago kids hadn't been here for a week or two and we had 4 cantelope setting on the kitchen counter. Now mind you the kids have been in the garden and know we planted 'cantelope'. Andrew went in the kitchen and yelled at the top of his lungs 'Grandma whered you get these muskmelon?' LOL I never realized they called them something else - the darling didn't realize all these months that was what we were growing :) He's thrilled and they have taken home 10 or so since.

I was happy when my grandaughter was born, when I was able to sing solo for the concert and now I am waiting for my big moment when my other grand child is born and my younger son is married. And as soon as my novel appears in the bookstore and on Amazon.com, then I will be doing the happy dance in real big style. I guess you are really in heaven right now. God has really blessed you and found someone to buy your stuff. And you thought you would be stuck making all those sponge and angel food cakes.

Hey I did the happy dance big time just a few minutes ago - got a phone call from the friend who introduced me to the people that bought my eggs. She and her husband went up to the farmer's market about noon and the guy had sold every single one of the eggs and want's more next week :) I'd better go get those chickens some junky tomatoes - we already have 6 dozen ready for next week, since Friday afternoon :)

Hi Faith. I could really feel that you are very happy with the way things work out for you. Imagine, you don't have to go the Farmer's market to sell your produce from your garden. You save money (for fee) and time by not going there coz somebody already bought your eggs and cantaloupe. Dance, dance, dance you go. I'm happy for you. But sorry I can't dance with you coz i am left-footed, LOL, don't know how to do that happy dance. I can laugh, shout with joy and sing praises when happy.

Oh dear I know what your going through - been there myself. I get several daily devotionals in my email and I saved this one. I just knew in my heart someone needed it...Only part of this hymn was in the email but I looked it up to find out the rest of the words. OPEN MY EYES, THAT I MAY SEE Open my eyes, that I may see Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me; Place in my hands the wonderful key That shall unclasp and set me free. Refrain Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready my God, Thy will to see, Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine! Open my ears, that I may hear Voices of truth Thou sendest clear; And while the wave notes fall on my ear, Everything false will disappear. Refrain Open my mouth, and let me bear, Gladly the warm truth everywhere; Open my heart and let me prepare Love with Thy children thus to share. Refrain I know from experience that God never turns His back on us so don't let that thought enter your mind. Sometimes we just need to listen for His voice to let us know what He has in store for us. I will be keeping your situation in my prayers.
