When I left for vacation a week ago I turned off the air conditioning...when I returned last Friday the house was so cold! I caved in a turned on the furnace! Tonight we have frost advisories...I hate to think of paying heating bills already! Have you had to turn on your furnace yet? I wouldn't have but it was just too chilly in here, even with a sweatshirt on!

Hi Jill, Sorry I didn't welcome you back sooner, I was off mylot for a few days. Someone poisoned my little dog Bogie and I was grieving his loss. I'm doing a little better now and wanted to talk to my friends. Where are you located in the US? Here in Fl. the weather is beginning to change mostly due to the hurricane activity. I may live in Fl. but I really don't care for the hot humid climate. Even in the Winter months we rarely turn on the furnace except occasionally to take the chill off. I hope your vacation was nice. I know you said it was too short. Isn't it always? Glad to have you back though.xoxoxo leenie By the way, do you have any idea what happened to Shelly?

I'm sorry jill, I thought you knew Shelly. She was a mylotter friend. She lives in Australia and is just a little ray of sunshine. She hasn't been on in several weeks now and she has medical issues and I was worried. Maybe she just got too busy. Oh well. It's kind of strange to see someone on mylot every day and then they disappear. Have you had that happen? leenie

Oh my goodness, furnace??? I am sitting here listening to my air conditioner running and hoping it shuts off soon. We will not have to use heat until late in the year. There are times when I even dread having to cook Thanksgiving dinner because of the heat and having the A/C going and a whole lot of times on Christmas the kids can go out and play with their new toys and wear shorts. I would rather have spring or fall all year instead of summer. hahaha

Nope, no heater yet. We're still using the airconditioner down here in Phoenix. I can't wait until it gets cool enough to open up the windows.

It is 74 here right now and my air conditioner is running. It was at 68 when I went to church yesterday around 10AM, but it was 84 when I got out a little after noon. So we are having heat waves here. It is supposed to be 84-86 every day this week. I hope we have lots of days we don't have to use either the AC or the heat. We have a total electric house and it could be expensive, although our bills have never been all that high in the winter. We did finally get gas logs for our fireplace. But we had to buy gas last month in order to get the cheaper rate. But we paid almost $450 for 150 gallons of gas. Hopefully, that will last us all winter! We can almost heat our house with these logs. We do sometimes shut off some bedrooms and our living room and dining room.

Oh is that bad weather out there? I am glad our weather here don't require us to have a furnace. We use electric fan rather than air conditioner because it is a heavy load on the electric bill during the hot season.

Hi jillhill, It's been cold here since last week but we are not using our heater yet, morning time, I can manage with pajama and sweatshirt then night time, sometimes, we are opening the window still since we are not using our aircon anymore! but, I know late October, we will need our heater again! It means bills will increase again! Not good!

Hey Jill. You are just trying to make me mad, aren't you? I mean, here I am, stuck down here in the Hades heat, praying for a nice, cool, 85 degree day. And you're telling us you're so chilly you had to turn on the furnace! What?! Well, to answer your question--No, I haven't turned on the furnace yet. All I have to do is open the front door and I'm hit in the face with 93 degree heat. Do you wanna switch places???

It was 43 when I went to work this morning....we are to have frost tonight and then a warm up.....it was such a shock! On Labor day it was in the 90's! No wonder we get sick! LOL....I'll just stay here though as it's going to warm up soon!

Sounds like it got cold really fast this year. 43, brrrrr, that would be really cold to me. My blood is so thin now, that when it's in the 50s, I am shivering and shaking. No kidding. But I still love cool weather. Sometimes we go back to IL to visit people during the wintertime. I love the briskness of the cold. The change of seasons are nice and I do miss them a little bit. But getting out and about is so simple all year long down here that I don't know if I could go back to living with the ice and snow. Take care and hope it gets warm, if that's the temp. you want.

It has only gotten down to the high 50's here at night, but it has not gotten cold enough in the house to turn on the heat. Our air is on still. It got up to the low 80's here today in Missouri. I know our weather is a little bit different than yours though.

It has turned off cold here where I live as well. I have not given in and turned on the furnace yet though. It is supposed to be down in the 40's tonight, but then warm up the rest of the week. I don't want to turn on the furnace until I absolutely have to though. It was cold and rainy today, but should be sunny and up in the 70's the rest of the week. I am not ready for this!

Guess we are going to have an early winter. It's been rather crazy weather here. Very cool in the morning but warm in the afternoon. Not cold enough to turn on the furnace. Tonight we have severe thunderstorm warnings so guess I won't be online very long. If the power goes, afraid there goes the computer also. Thanks for reminding me I need to get the gas company out here to service the furnace this year. I make sure to do it every other year.
