If you're a Christian, do you feel bad for not reading the Bible? |
|
Some people say it's allegorical, others say it's just a collection of fairy tales, some people don't believe in every word that the Bible states, while others say it's the most boring book ever - with no pictures and has some unusual words and grammatical forms that are completely unacceptable in their part.
I'm a believer (you can call me Christian if you want) but I'm not sure if the things mentioned above are true. Although I agree that the Bible has no pictures and I also think that some parts in the Bible are allegorical due to different interpretations made through the years.
But there's one thing I won't agree about - that the Bible is the most boring book ever.
For me, it's not boring at all; I'm loving every chapter of it. Now I'm not promoting the Bible to you (whether you're a believer or an atheist) but I think it's one of the greatest book ever written. It's an everlasting source of love, hope, and courage.
The book itself is considered, specifically for Christians, as the greatest remembrance of God for men. However, I know that a lot of Christians out there are not paying special attention to this book. Some may have read it but only half-finished, and some won't even bother reading the rest of the Old Testament or the New Testament. They prefer to spend time reading and collecting Harry Potter books, various kinds of magazines, tutorials on how-to-draw anime, etc.
Now, the question is... WHY? If you're a Christian, do you feel sorry for not reading the Bible?

If anything it is complex and somewhat hard to understand. It is full of knowledge. It is almost shocking in some ways. It has stories of murder, jealousy, adultery, thieves, and any affliction known to man...good or bad! It also is full of advice to every and any issue.

| 94. JPeralta (40) | 1 year ago | I don't feel bad for not reading the bible. What kind of christian are you? are you the kind that is christian by defenition. (someone who believes in jesus crist, or god). That's the kind of cristian I'm. I don't belive the bible word for word. I think that would be silly. The reason I don't read the bible, is well there are a lot of both excuses and one maine actuall reason. It has been re-written over and over so many times. If you were to go to another contry and purchase or read the same bible you have at home, you would see that all the grammatical errors actually change what around a few things. There is also the fact that I myself might misinterpret something, and take it the wrong way. I don't wanna do that..:)

| 95. edleogc (42) | 1 year ago | I am a Christian and the Bible is the source of my faith. Unless, you are a Moslem or an Atheist by birth, I would understand if you don't believe in the bible. If we profess to be a Christian and doubt the bible, I would say we are hypocrites. A christian was baptized, confirmed, attend the church, married, blessed during death, etc. with the pastor or the priest with the bible in his hand. That alone is a proof that rely on the bible for salvation. And these things are didn't even made you believe the bible? That's HYPOCRISY my friend. These are realities we have to face. Reading the Bible is completely a different thing. Establish a relation with God by prayer and let His spirit dwell in you.I am sure understanding will come to you.Read the bible and attend bible studies. Salvation is personal my friend.Prayer and and being a member of a religion cannot save you unless you yourself accept GOD through Christ as your saviour. Be saved by grace through faith.

100. clowdine (885) | 1 year ago | Anyone professing to be Christian should feel sorry if they don't read the Bible because it teaches us how to live our lives in a way we conform with God's will. He wants us to be righteous the way he sees righteousness.
Proof: 2Timothy 3:16-17 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.)
Sadly, some people regard Bible just like any other book. Others don't understant its contents and because of that, they dont' pay attention to it without realizing this: James 4:5 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Of course, the Scriptures are no nonsense. Everything written in it should be read and understood and there it contains the laws of God that should be rightfully obeyed.
