If you're a Christian, do you feel bad for not reading the Bible? |
|
Some people say it's allegorical, others say it's just a collection of fairy tales, some people don't believe in every word that the Bible states, while others say it's the most boring book ever - with no pictures and has some unusual words and grammatical forms that are completely unacceptable in their part.
I'm a believer (you can call me Christian if you want) but I'm not sure if the things mentioned above are true. Although I agree that the Bible has no pictures and I also think that some parts in the Bible are allegorical due to different interpretations made through the years.
But there's one thing I won't agree about - that the Bible is the most boring book ever.
For me, it's not boring at all; I'm loving every chapter of it. Now I'm not promoting the Bible to you (whether you're a believer or an atheist) but I think it's one of the greatest book ever written. It's an everlasting source of love, hope, and courage.
The book itself is considered, specifically for Christians, as the greatest remembrance of God for men. However, I know that a lot of Christians out there are not paying special attention to this book. Some may have read it but only half-finished, and some won't even bother reading the rest of the Old Testament or the New Testament. They prefer to spend time reading and collecting Harry Potter books, various kinds of magazines, tutorials on how-to-draw anime, etc.
Now, the question is... WHY? If you're a Christian, do you feel sorry for not reading the Bible?

71. ladym33 (5385) | 1 year ago | I actually did bible study for a while, which I thought was a nicer way of reading it, as we were reading it as a group and discussing it. It was also interesting to see the different interpretations, and it made the writing easier to understand. I have not read the bible in it's entirety but I have read a good bit of it.

72. newtondak (2125) | 1 year ago | I am a Christian and although I do not read the Bible every day, I turn to it often when seeking answers about how God wants us to live our lives. I do not feel that just "reading" the Bible gives the insight we need, rather a "study" of it's contents using various other materials reaps the most benefits.

73. bestboy19 (1377) | 1 year ago | I've read the Bible three times, but I have to admit my mind wasn't always on what I was reading. I don't feel sorry for that because I've had so much Bible study all my life. I think maybe the people who think it's boring are reading the King James version. They should get a more modern translation. If there's one thing the Bible is not it's boring.

| 74. Jtyree (13) | 1 year ago | As a Biblical Christian (one who believes that the Bible and what it teaches regarding Jesus Christ is true), I would be lost without my Bible. I wish that I could say that I read it everyday without exception but sometimes things happen and I don't get it read. I try to at least read a verse or two a day. I attend church on Sundays where our pastor preaches from the Bible and teaches us how to apply it to our lives on a daily basis. The Bible is the ultimate source for direction in a person's life. Do I believe that the Bible is allegorical or literal in what it has to say? One thing I am sure of is that the Bible is not a collection of fairy tales. Some things that are written I believe are allegorical, especially when it comes to the book of Revelation. However, I believe in a great God who is able to do literally everything that I can only comprehend in the allegorical sense.

76. Sharon38 (1038) | 1 year ago | If I do not read the Bible i find that I do and say things that are not right all the time. Yes my conscience and the holy spirit wil prompt me to repent but the more I refuse to read the bible is the more I backslide in my heart.
It is my guide and the Word reminds me of the do and dont that I should obey. It helps me to become a better person and draws me nearer to God.
