The spokesman said Monday it was too early to say how much melamine the chocolates contained. He declined to give his name because of company policy. Ingestion of melamine may lead to reproductive damage, or bladder or kidney stones, which can lead to bladder cancer. I think I will stay away from Cadbury eggs this year! What about you? Does this surprise you?

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to food being contaminated. No Cadbury for me for a long time. Even when they say it is safe again I would be unsure about eating it.

I think they are always coming up with dangersin all things. I think we would have to totally stop eating to stya away from all of the dangers and then we would all die of starvation. I do stay away from the really bad things but i think are just nitpicking everything now.

Oh my! I hate to say it but it seems like alot of things that are from China has something in it, the wheat had rat poison and other stuff. are we safe eating anything anymore? It is all you hear on the news anymore if it isn't salmonella or Ecoli now this what next? I think I will also be staying away from that brand or any other brand not made in the United States since other places have different food rules and regulations.

Yes, this is a rather big issue. Apparently that is related to a sort of fraud. See, some products like milk are valued according to their fat content so adding melamine artificially makes that look higher. As I recall, this is the same stuff they found in pet food. I do not think we should be buying things like food or toys from China until they get this sort of corruption under control.

I love cadbury cream eggs, and always have to have some each Easter. I wonder if they'll have this straightened out by the time Easter comes, because I don't think I can go without my cream eggs this year. Does it surprise me? No, not really. With all the recalls and things they've been finding lately, I'm not the least bit surprised. It's becoming too dangerous to eat anything these days due to what chemicals you may find in your food. Not to mention toys painted with lead and all the other hazards. Is this something that's been going on for a long time, or is it just a recent batch of the eggs have this problem?

Not surprisingly, the article I saw didn't say how long it has been going on. And the spokesperson couldn't give his name. Its against company policy.

No, it doesn't surprise me. That is why I am picky about what I buy. Our globally-dependent food system has numerous security issues.
