Cupcakes? The newest form of wedding cake? |
| |
| I attended a wedding this weekend..and when we walked into the reception hall...there to our right was a table with three tiers of cupcakes on it....a wedding topper was at the highest level and all the levels under that were the different flavored cupcakes! One guest that sat with us told us that the last three weddings there was no cake...but all these different kinds of cupcakes. I admit I was just a wee bit disappointed but they did cut a cake....a very small one that was just for the bride and groom and their table. Have you attened a wedding where they served cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake? | | | | | |

| | No, but i would be really disappointed. Maybe it is because i am just plain old fashioned or it could just be the plain old fact that i love to see how the cake is decorated. | | | | | | |

| | Hmmm I have never seen that, and I would have been surprised to see that. But it doesn't surprise me as tradition seems to be left out of a lot of ceremonies and events as we sometimes know them. | | | | | | |

| | No I have never attended a wedding with cupcakes for the cake instead of the wedding cake. I'm sure it was pretty but not like a wedding cake. It also is cheaper I would guess. I wonder if that is the new thing now? | | | | | | |

| | Yes I thought there was something in the cutting and feeding each other cake that was an old time tradition....it was kind of weird! | | | |

| | I went to a wedding three years ago and they served cupcakes that the bride and her friends made. Lately, more and more weddings have it. It's less expensive than the traditional wedding cake and you can get different flavors instead of having just one or two with the cake. They also give you that option for having a smaller cake that the newlyweds can cut into for the slicing of the cake. Personally, I am thinking of having cupcakes on my wedding. I love cupcakes! | | | | | | |

| | They had three different kinds and all three were very good. I did miss seeing the big cake but they had a smaller one for the bridal table....You could also go have a second one if you wanted which I thought was very nice. | | | |

| | I haven't been to a wedding in quite a while. But I have seen this cupcake trend at childrens birthday parties. It sure makes for easier serving at birthday parties. Was it at least tastefully done? I'm glad you told us about the very small cake. I was think as I read this.... 'but how do you cut the cake?' Haha | | | | | | |

| | Nope, I have not attended a wedding reception where cupcakes were used in place of a cake. Was it interesting? I have been to one reception where there was a sweet table with all kinds of various candies and chocolates instead of a cake. Am sure this was quite a bit less expensive than a cake. | | | | | | |

| | They had 350 cupcakes made...in three different flavors...some were decorated with chocolate leaves. It was interesting. | | | |

| | This does sound very interesting. Not sure 350 cupcakes is alot cheaper than a wedding cake. That's alot of work! | | | |

| | No I haven't been to a wedding with cupcakes. I would prefer regular cake as well. It just wouldn't be as pretty sitting on the table as cupcakes. I have seen on tv a dougnut cake like from Krispy Kreme dougnuts. Now who would want that? Sounds like one of those Jeff Foxworthy jokes. "You might be a redneck" | | | | | | |

| | yes, almost everyone is doing it now. i've already attended a wedding that has 3 tiers of cupcakes and their give-away is the cupcake itself. presentation looks cute and cupcake tastes great! but i still prefer to have the traditional wedding cake and traditional giveaway, the one w/c you can keep forever and remind you of your friend's/relative's wedding :) | | | |

| | My youngest sister had Fairie cakes (small cupcakes) at her reception. There were two special cupcakes for the bride and groom, then the rest were arranged on a tiered server, if I am not mistaken. I was not able to attend, and am trying to rely on my memory from the pictures she sent. I thought it was kind of cool. But, then again, non traditional weddings are my job and right up my alley so..... | | | | | | |

| | I guess it doesn't surprise me or disappoint me when an actual wedding cake is not used. I cater to these types of brides, it is what I am used to.*L* | | | |
