Cupcakes? The newest form of wedding cake?  

No, but i would be really disappointed. Maybe it is because i am just plain old fashioned or it could just be the plain old fact that i love to see how the cake is decorated.

Hmmm I have never seen that, and I would have been surprised to see that. But it doesn't surprise me as tradition seems to be left out of a lot of ceremonies and events as we sometimes know them.

No I have never attended a wedding with cupcakes for the cake instead of the wedding cake. I'm sure it was pretty but not like a wedding cake. It also is cheaper I would guess. I wonder if that is the new thing now?

I have heard this is a growing fad at weddings. I have seen several "cupcake instead of wedding cake" displays and while some of them are just lovely, I am a traditionalist. I love those huge multi tiered wedding cakes. It's just not the same seeing a cupcake smashed into someones face rather than a chunk of wedding cake. I can see the that maybe is is less expensive then an elaborate wedding cake, but it's one fad I hope doesn't stick around too long. Wedding cakes have worked for centuries and I say if it isn't broken...why fix it??

when my cousin got married to his present husband, the wedding cake she had was towered donuts. that is very unique and being very practical that i must say. i find it cool to have a different wedding set up. right?

I went to a wedding three years ago and they served cupcakes that the bride and her friends made. Lately, more and more weddings have it. It's less expensive than the traditional wedding cake and you can get different flavors instead of having just one or two with the cake. They also give you that option for having a smaller cake that the newlyweds can cut into for the slicing of the cake. Personally, I am thinking of having cupcakes on my wedding. I love cupcakes!

I haven't been to a wedding in quite a while. But I have seen this cupcake trend at childrens birthday parties. It sure makes for easier serving at birthday parties.
Was it at least tastefully done? I'm glad you told us about the very small cake. I was think as I read this.... 'but how do you cut the cake?' Haha

Nope, I have not attended a wedding reception where cupcakes were used in place of a cake. Was it interesting? I have been to one reception where there was a sweet table with all kinds of various candies and chocolates instead of a cake. Am sure this was quite a bit less expensive than a cake.

No I haven't been to a wedding with cupcakes. I would prefer regular cake as well. It just wouldn't be as pretty sitting on the table as cupcakes. I have seen on tv a dougnut cake like from Krispy Kreme dougnuts. Now who would want that?

My youngest sister had Fairie cakes (small cupcakes) at her reception. There were two special cupcakes for the bride and groom, then the rest were arranged on a tiered server, if I am not mistaken. I was not able to attend, and am trying to rely on my memory from the pictures she sent. I thought it was kind of cool.
But, then again, non traditional weddings are my job and right up my alley so.....
