Sarah Palin's attack fund raising letter |
| |
| Requests for campaign contributions routinely come across my desk at work, especially lately, and I do look at them which is why the one that arrived today from Sarah Palin was opened and read. What a shocker! An attack fundraiser! Normally, the material I receive from candidates is filled with glowing reminders of past achievements and promises of a bright future so I can honestly say that I have never received anything like this before. It's two pages long, asks for an Emergency Pledge of $5,000, $2,5000, $1,000, $500, $100 or $50 three separate times and focuses almost exclusively on attacking "the Obama Democrats". Here are a few quotes: "The Obama Democrats are coming at us with everything they've got - fair or unfair, true or false - because they have one goal this election - to gain total control of Washington - anything else for them is failure. Because unless they have total control of our government they won't be able to raise taxes, bring back the 'era of big government', block domestic oil drilling, shift control of the Supreme Court to the left and finally turn our national health care system over to Washington bureaucrats." And what do they plan to do with these contributions?: "Your contribution will help us identify and mobilize Republican and Republican-leaning voters, fund crucial registration, absentee and early voting programs and defend our Republican candidates from the vicious smears and attacks the Obama-Biden Democrats and their far-left special interest allies are relentlessly throwing at us." There is no mention of John McCain, what he stands for, what he hopes to achieve if elected...nothing positive at all. The response page, where you check the amount you're donating and can provide your credit card information (for your convenience) begins with the following: "I've seen the depths the liberal elites and the Obama Democrats are willing to stoop to in order to tear us down and win control of Washington." Is this October or what?! | | | | | |

| | I think you're right. That's all I'm hearing on the news lately is about McCain and Palin going on the attack. All of the candidates need to realize that people are tired and this negativity can come back to bite them. | | | |

| | It seems pretty typical of the McCain campaign. They sure don't pull any punches. I guess if you can't win on policy, you have to hit below the belt and do character assignation. I doubt that it will do him any good. Usually, such mean spiritedness backfires. I sure hope it does. We don't need more of this. | | | | | | |

| | I think people are too worried about the economy and don't need to deal with a month of attacks and counter attacks. Seems to me that positive talk would go farther. | | | |

| | Rofl Spalladino. I've seen the Obama letters. They make that one look tame. No I dnot have nay handy. I never bothered to keep them but the next one I get I will post. OBama from the very beginning played the race card and accused the republicans of "smearing" him. Even before the republican national convention. Or maybe you forgot the "Oh and by the way, did they tell you I am black?" comment? Or how about " They will tell you i don't look like all the other presidents " one? And if nay really believes that Obama is ahead they are living in a shallow world. According to the "polls" 18% (19% today) of republicans are gong to vote for Obama. In fact I think I'll start a discussion on that. :) | | | | | | |

| | I was being rhetorical on the race baiting there. I enjoy your postings btw. I think commented on a couple. As to the polls, I truly believe the msm is so far in the tank for Obama that they are engaging in voter suppression by cooking the poll numbers. | | | |

| | The reason you don't have any handy is because they don't exist. I'm a volunteer for the Barack Obama campaign and I'm on every mailing list, text message list and phone bank list. I've never received a letter like the one describes in my mail, email or text message. And I've never seen one at campaign headquaters. If a letter like this existed on behalf to the Barack Obama campaign, it would have been discussed on talk radio, television and in the media. Lloyd | | | |

| | SUre the media would cover them. Just like the covered the letters Obamma sent out during the primaries. I do believe Hillary had to hold a pres conference to show how Obama was lying about her health care plan in his letters. Just like the media covered Obamas rise to power by having lawyers go through voter registration files in Chicago to "unearth" sinister flaws such as not crossing all the "t''s" and misspellings to get his opponents thrown off the ballot. Just like the media is making a big deal out of Obamas desire to form a "national security force" as well funded and as large as the U.S. army for domestic purposes. Just like the media made a big deal out of his voting for Fisa. Just like the media is bringing to light the fact that John Glenn is an Obama supporter. Just like the fact the media is bringing out the fact that McCain was cleared of all charges in the Keating five scandals and the investigating attorney, a democrat btw, said that McCain is an honest man. Just like.... Well you get the idea. The media has no interest in fund raising letters btw. From either side. | | | |

| | This is strange. You said you often get these requests. Are they often from only the VP candidate? Do you think it's possible our little Sarah did this on her own without McCain's knowledge? I know she likes to call herself a maverick but she seems like a loose cannon to me. She better hurry up with those registrations. Most states have deadlines. Our's in Pennsylvania was today so she can't use any of that money to register new voters here and I would think time was running out everywhere. | | | | | | |

| | No, campaign literature from state, county and local candidates are mailed to my job all the time. If Sarah did do this and it breaks some kind of campaign finance laws she's in a lotta hot water! Now that you mention it, today was the last day to register in Florida, too. Since she's in the state I hope she had lots of luck in the short amount of time she had earlier. Actually, I don't think registering new voters is a high priority for the camp...I would think ad time on tv is priority. | | | |

| | I have been recieving those kinds of letter from the republican party sence the primary. Always the same. Always asking for money. I just throw them away. I honestly do not have the money to give them. Plus I do not like either candidate so why should I give them my money. | | | | | | |

| | huh. ive never seen a contribution letter like that!! though i must say it doesnt really surprise me. which isnt a good thing lol! you'd think they would at LEAST mention ONE positive thing that either Mccain or Palin have done..something, shoot anything! obviously its aimed straight at the overzealous republicans that cheer like the Beatles have come to town at the campaign events that Palin speaks at. lol! id send it back to them and highlight the "Ive seen the depths the liberal elites..." highlighted with boldy written sharpie saying "Really? this is how you're going about your campaign now?" LMAO! | | | | | | |

| | I am not really surprised I think fear is setting in with the republicans they know they dont have a chance to win as long as they play fair they only way they can keep their control over this control is by slinging mud | | | | | | |
