Do you think that is right for people to take the law in their own hands? I don't agree as this can lead to a witch hunt. What is your opinion?

On the one hand, you're right it can lead to a witch hunt, on the other hand, if the person was a known pedophile, his killer might have saved the lives of hundreds and hundreds of children.

I don't agree with people taking the law into their own hands, but if the justices would do their jobs this wouldn't happen.

Hi ronaldinu,
I don't believe in taken that person's life, as they are just as bad for killing him, so what happens if a innocent person was accoused of paedophile? now that would be tragic yes I agree with you, it can turn into a witch.

I beleive that as far as anybody should go is a citizen's arrest, but, as far as this person went, no, I don't agree with that. I can definitely understand the anger, but, as a result of his actions HE can be arrested as well and serve time himself. He certainly wasn't thinking.

Hi ya ronaldinu
I think this is really hard to say because for example in England these two lads of 10 years old killed a boy of about 2/3 years old and went to a young offenders prison for like 8-10 years but now they are out, have been given a new identity, had a great education whilst locked away, have been given good jobs and a house to live in and of course their lives ahead of them. The parents of the poor child will suffer with the loss of their chil forever. My children will probably never be as well off as these two now young men when they reach that age because I can't provide those things for my children. If anybody was to find out the identity of these guys they would surely be linched. I personally wouldn't attack someone for their wrong doings but feel that we are let down sometimes by the justice system and deserve to have further punishment!

You are talking about the James Bulger case. I know what you mean. My heart is with the victim parent's and I guess that justice has not been carried out.

Yes I am and it annoys me that the parents will have to live the rest of their lives without their poor little son. My boys will never have the life that those lads have got now it's like they have got away with their crime completely and have their have everything to live for now. Yes ok they lost most of their youth but I think that was a small price to pay for what they have now, don't you?

you inspired me to start a new discussion. I did not agree to get lightly with an 8 yr prison sentence only.! Life sentence would have been more suitable!

As much as we want and need to protect our children we just can't go off and kill them just because they moved into our neighborhoods and stuff it just means we need to keep a closer watch on our children like should be anyhow.

I think it is barbaric to take the law into ones own hands. There is a reason that civilized societies have an established law and order organization. Punishment is not a revenge. There has got to be laws followed. What I find a crime may not be what everyone else think is punishable. We'd all be terribly unsafe if people could do whatever thay deemed reasonable to anyone else.

No. I do not believe in "an eye for an eye". I do not believe that two wrongs make a right.
Imagine if the person who had been strangled had NOT been a pedophile, that it was a person who was wrongly accused? It can and does happen.

I don't really think we should be taking the law into our own hands, as it could certainly get out of hand - however, I can understand people being frustrated with the legal system. In Australia, rapists and paedophiles never seem to get their just desserts, and if a family member of mine was a victim I would definitely feel like getting out and giving some justice of my own. Laws need to be tightened up - then maybe vigilantes won't feel the need to take action.

maybe he figured, and rightfuly so, that the pediphile would get away with it. im sorry, but if id known back when that was going on with my son years ago, i would have killed him. its caused trouble his whole life

I feel like I am drumming the same tune every day to so many discussions I read the artcile but am aware you cannot always believe everything you read so once again I need to know more before I convict The only time i would put on my vigilante garment is if a family member was done in Good Luck

This is a sad story in all aspects.
The man was kileld more than likely due to vigilantes. I think this is also classified as murder in every way. The courts did their part sentencing this man and yet he was punished by the public. Wrong in my eyes. Once a person is sentenced etc for their crime then that should be it. But then I also can feel for the victims families in a matter as serious as what he did. A shame in all aspects.
I hope they catch the people responsible and also prosecute them to the full extent of the law.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It's not right to take the law in you hands but sometimes we can't control the people when the culprit has really done a terrible thing. Like that paedophile! It happened in our place once. A robber who did a lot of stealing in the neighborhood was caught and he was tied in a post and all the people victimized by him gave him punches and kicks. Oh what a poor fellow. He was helpless and certainly had already been punished before the police came.
