there has been several discussions started about christmas shopping and when people start (i would have to say i am about half done!) but when do you start wrapping?
one year, i started wrapping in september, but i forgot what was in the boxes i had wrapped! usually i start in november and because i hate to wrap presents, i am happy if i get one or 2 done per day (that way, there is no huge rush on.)
what about you?

I like to have all shopping done by December 1st, then in the evenings I wrap 4 or 5 gifts a night until I'm all done. I keep a Christmas gift list on my computer that I update (add new babies born or spouses if a niece or nephew got married, for example) and print yearly. It has blanks by each person's name where I handwrite in what I bought them. It has a checkmark box down the left hand side (it's actually 2 columns) where I check off when I'm done with them. I carry the list with me at all times starting in November. Sometimes at the end of a season, it looks pretty ratty!
When I wrap the gifts, I arrange them in bags or boxes by family. I highlight each person's name on the gift list as I wrap his/her gift. I drop the list in a file after Christmas and that way, I can look back on it the next year to make sure I don't "repeat" a gift, which is easy to do when you buy for 30+ people.
If I order gift cards and other items over the internet and have them shipped directly, I, of course, note the gift/gift card in the blank on my list and check the people's names off as purchased for.
What I don't do is go back in on the computer and type in to the lists what I purchased. I feel that is an unnecessary, extra step when all I have to do is pull the file and look at what I bought them the prior year.

I am running a little late on my shopping but have made a good start. I never get anything wrapped until a few days before Christmas. Sometimes on Christmas Eve when family is here, I have been known to grab a gift bag and use it at the last minute . But I love it all

Well I am impressed you are already half done in your Christmas shopping! I do collect gifts throughout the year and I forget where I have put them! I usually end up wrapping all my presents at once to get it over and done with, I don't mind giving presents, but it's the wrapping up and you'd think I'd have enough practice doing it for 30 odd Christmas's but I still get into a pickle and need an extra pair of hands to do up the parcels! Can't believe Christmas is rapidly approaching!

We usually wrap the gifts just a few days before christmas. Some we do earlier because they have to be delivered the last time we visit our family in western norway. That might be in november. I think it's kind of a nice hing to do. It's calm and easy work to me.

I do it right before I put them under the tree or ship them out. I also did what you did.....wrapped them and some of the tags fell off and I had to open them to see what was in them. I also gave my son in law a gift last year I had bought three years earlier...hid it and forgot I had bought it for him......I am behind this year.....I don't have it all done like I normally do! LOL

I always do the last minute wrapping to remember what I placed inside.
I don't have many gifts to make, so it will take only few minutes for me to do the job......:)

I wrap the presents when I buy them, and that is usually a week before Christmas. That way I have enough money to pay for them. And I do not do that good a job. I am the worse wrapper on the planet and am always losing the scotch tape. And I am too cheap to get a professional wrapper.

Well, I do my shopping early and I do most of my decorating early and I do my cards early but for some strange reason I can never find the time or energy to wrap early. I am always struggling to get things done at the last minute and it drives me crazy! I just don't like to wrap the gifts!!

Hi Cher,
Congrats on getting so far ahead of the rest of us on your Christmas shopping! Good job, you go girl! I'm usually well on my way by now, but this year is slow going for different reasons. As for the wrapping part, I usually wait for my daughter to come visit and she will do most of it for me. I just hate wrapping. She is very creative with it, and enjoys it so much. To me it is great to just watch her have fun with it all.
This year, she has the new baby to tend to so she may not be available to help me out. Maybe it is time to initiate some of the grandchildren into it to see how they fare at it..Some of the older ones at least..
The final gifts are usually wrapped up a couple of days before Christmas, and placed under the tree. Taking your time is fun at times. It is just one of those jobs that needs to be done...
Have a nice day, and enjoy wrapping whenever you feel like it.. LOL

I normally wait to wrap them until right before they go under the tree. I am a slacker that way. Last year I did one wrapping paper for each kid, so I did not have to worry about name tags, but this year I got special Dora paper and Gift tags for my daughter.

I hate to admit it, but I am a typical guy. My wife does all the shopping and wrapping for the kids and other relatives. So the only gifts I buy are the grab bag gift for our family Christmas party, and gifts for my wife. I usually go shopping the day before Christmas Eve, and usually end up wrapping them that night. If I can get away with it I will have someone else wrap them for me. Before my mom passed away I used to bring them to her to wrap, one year my mother in law did it for me. Last year my best friend's mom did it. I know I am bad, no need to tell me so.

I did the same thing one year. I learned to not even start wrapping until after Thanksgiving. I start shopping early even though this makes me spend more!

Yes, that's what I'd rather do, but I would go ahead and put the name on it also, to avoid the confusion, or at least put a tag (a memo stick-um) on it to let you know what it is!
I hate doing it all at the last, I'd rather have it all done, because there are a lot of other things that are going on at that time, I'd rather not be rushed!

I usually don't even start shopping until the end of November, unless I just come across something that jumps out and says, Hey, I would be great for so and so.
As for wrapping, traditionally, I do my wrapping Christmas Eve, after everyone is in bed. When my kids were little, it was fun to hear them get up on Christmas morning, see the tree, (which had been bare of decorations, and presents, when they went to bed,)and exclaim, Look! Santa was here!
So, even though the kids are grown, I still wait until Christmas Eve, to wrap the gifts.

i usually wrap them as i go along and then put them in the cupboard in tha spare room where they stay until it's time to give them out! If i leave them all until the end i get frustrated with it, as it's too much, but doing it as i go along means i've got more patience with it and i can make them look nicer - as well as remember to write tags out so i know which one is for who!! lol xxx

I usually wrapped presence starting first week of december. It is much easier for me to buy things to certain people that ill give gifts coz they already knew what they want and there is a lot of items i can choose. I usually set a day where i wrapped all gifts and display them under my christmas tree. I am excited already preparing for those gift this coming december.
