good to hear that you got rid of her. its always such a let down when YOU are trying to be a good person and do the right thing, and the "friend" turns out to take advantage of you..or worse, stab you in the back.

ive tried to help..and like you ended up getting things stolen, some of which had some pretty strong emotional attachments..so that made the whole thing even worse. a cd or something stupid i could have replaced..but not an heirloom.

try not to let it stop you from helping a friend in need when the next time comes around..but then again, dont discount your instincts when they tell you this isnt a good thing.

Yes, don't feel too bad, there are a lot of us out here that have fallen to the same thing!
But I was lucky, because I was cautious, and I didn't let it get out of control, and I was able to end it before I lost very much of my valuables!
But there are some people that are more compassionate than I, and let themselves be taken advantage of to a disastrous point! You just have to be stern and end it before it gets too damaging!
I've always tried to help someone, but I make sure, that they try to help themselves also!

Plooker (that you know so well) attempted to sc..w me by offering me a deal that would have made me his slave until death did us apart. The reason he has been harrassing me on mylot... is because I walked out of the deal when I saw the writing on the wall. And thanks God I did... It would have been the biggest mistake of my entire life. And that was my best friend.

Just goes to show you... you cannot trust anyone.

I have not been in that situation... and i hope i won't... but right now... i am thinking of letting a girl stay with me for a year so that she can finish highschool... instead of her going back to the province... she could help me out with the household chores... and just do some odd work for me... i just hope that she will be good... since i will be giving her a chance to finish her highschool...

When you let someone into your home you learn for quickly who and what kind of person this is. I would want someone to help me and I have had that done for me in the past. I want to help where I can and lend a helping hand to those that need it. It is hard now days because people do not seem to have the scruples that they used to have. Your instincts are there for a reason. Hard call, huh?

Yeah that's nice to know you had the courage to drive her away. What similar thing that has happened to us was accepting a lesbian as a helper in our house. Overall performance in the house was good except that she was always making abusive looks on my kids. Good thing I noticed and drove her away. After that I have heard lots of talks from the neighborhood of other dirty plans she had on my family. Sometimes it takes courage to listen to our intuition over and above what or how we feel

Hi kbourgerie, just be thankful that nothing worse than that has happened, like she might have included your son on her drug sessions. She is gone thank God for that, just make sure you won't welcome her back.

I helped someone before too. Others were telling me it was a mistake to help her but I did anyway because I can. I mean, like you, I needed help before and someone helped me so I guess I'm just paying forward. But then again, it turned out my friends were right. She betrayed me and stole from me and it really hurt. I learned my lesson well...

Unfortunately, that seems to be the story of my life! I have had everything I owned stolen from me...at least twice and had to completely start over! We need to learn to follow our guts! Sorry to hear that it happened to you as well!

I have done this a couple of times before also and I will never do it again. you just cannot trust people these days.

Many times and I still listen to my conscience and do the good when I feel it needs to be done. However, even in my wildest dreams, I can never imagine anybody staying at my house and doing drugs (or something similarly damaging) to my own child. Not only did she take advantage of your hospitality, she breached the trust placed on her by you and that is something unpardonable to me. This is still shocking to me…I mean I would treat any child (grown-up or otherwise) of my friend as same as my own and doing drugs with my own child??!!
