Are you taking a holiday photo with your family?

Holiday Family Photo - My family in front of our tree that you can't see.

I wanted to do a holiday portrait of my family this year, but the prices can be expensive for professional portraits. Instead I got us all together today and took a nice photo with my digital camera. It isn't very Christmasy, although we were standing in front of our tree, you can't really see it. I am printing it out now to place in Christmas cards to my friends. I will also probably give it to my in laws as a gift in a frame. Did your family get a holiday portrait this year?

We don't take holiday portraits, or at least, we don't have any professional ones made anymore. My husband has a tripod and puts his digital camera on it, sets it for a count down and gets in the picture. We've done many pictures like that. They are just as nice as if you've had them made in a portrait shop.

That's what we did, only I don't have a tripod. I propped the camera up on the sofa, a box, a can of formula, and some DVD's until it was just the right height.

Well, improvising is just as good. At least, you got the job done. We didn't have a tripod until last year. He got tired of not being able to use his camera the way he wanted to do.

I wanted to take a professional picture with my boyfriend and our 2 cats. They are like our children, since we don't have any yet. I thought that it would be a cute idea for our christmas cards. But first of all, we don't have the money right now and my boyfriend broke his ankle and can barely leave his room let alone his house. I just hope to have them done with in a year.

Take it yourself like I did. It's so much cheaper.

I took a picture with my son one his first Christmas, but I have not done one since. I have thought about doing one of the kids together for Christmas. I won't be in it though.

My kids - My kids holiday photo
I took a bunch today. Took a shot of the kids decorating the tree, took a shot of all the kids, and a shot of me and hubby. Here's one of all the kids.

I had plans of doing a nice family photo this year, but you know how things go! One day it is October and Christmas is still weeks away, then all of a sudden it's upon us and I discover that I've done none of the things I planned. I intended to use it for a card, as you are. Then my second plan was a photo a friend took showing our new house under the snow which fell recently, but I still haven't managed to get it from him. Now I think I'm going to have to scrap the whole photo idea completely as I don't have a printer myself and I haven't really got time to find a business to print them out for me. Thankfully, my eldest son had some photos taken at school a few months ago which I haven't yet sent to family. I'll decorate some frames with him, and we'll post a couple off to his grandparents.

We just went to Wal-mart and got a $7.99 package. Money is really tight right now but we love to have a family picture to put in the christmas cards! You're picture you took with your camera is very nice! I think you did a VERY good job!

I really like this picture. It's very good quality. We've never taken a family photo for sending. This year, though, we're going to round up the dogs (I have a Yorkie and two Shih Tzus) and take a nice photo of them. So, I'm going to send that out to anyone who gives us a Christmas card.
