newborn baby? My son is almost 5 weeks old. He is getting ready for another bath. His hair gets oily quickly. Its his second bath in about a week. The doctor thinks that is fine. With sensitive baby skin do you think this is too much?

1-2x a week typically. I'd do the head more often depending on how good ol' cradle cap was going. As you recall you need to be careful not to dry out their skin. ANd I also hated giving baths to NB's in winter.... they are so chilled and it just bothers me. So I usually just cover them in a towel and expose them limb by limb and wash them up with soapy water, cover up & move on to the next area.

No, to much and it dries their skin out. Oily hair is sometimes good since he might get cradle cap I think that is what my sister in law called it 2 of her kids had it. We would use a warm damp cloth on the days we didn't bath the kids and maybe baby wipes in between as needed. But 2 baths a week is good for now.

When my kids were that little they got baths a few times a week. My kids were both winter babies too and I did not want to expose them to the cold air very often like that. Also if it is his hair you are mostly worried about you can do that with a washrag and a little baby shampoo and not get the rest of him wet. At that age daily is sure not necessary.

My daughter used to get dry skin and something similar to hives if she was bathed too often. I think the answer depends on the baby. I don't think a baby being a little oily is a problem. They don't generally stick of body odor until much later in life, after all.

we have a humid climate ,so we prefer to bathe our newborn child daily.i think,it is ok,to bathe newborns frequently,as long as care is taken to wrap them in warm clothes.

I bathed my daughter just about every day when she was a baby. I tried not to do it so often in the winter though. It was too cold and she may have gotten sick. I did make sure to wash her off good though.

I tried not to bathe my kids too often, but a friend of mine bathed her baby on a daily basis. After the bath she'd cover him up with lotion and baby oil. It didn't hurt him any, except that he wasn't able to get used to germs and he ended up in the hospital at 5 months old with bronchitis. I don't think twice a week is bad... but if it's just his hair that needs washing, you could wash only his hair and not the rest of him. When my kids were too little for baths I'd wash their hair in the kitchen sink. Hold the baby in 1 arm, run the water on their head, wash it, and rinse it. You may want help with this, you kinda need an extra arm to do it that way until you get used to doing it.
