With frosting and sprinkles!!
This is what I made for hubby for Valentine's day. This is my first time making sugar cookies from scratch, or making any sort of cut out cookie from scratch, and I am very pleased with how it came out. My only regret is that the only heart shaped cookie cutter I could get was very large, so it didn't make as many cookies as I would have liked. I wanted to send a bunch into work with him tomorrow, but what you see in this picture is basically all the cookies there are.
Minus the one that I ate to make sure they were good, and there are 4 others not pictured here, on those I wrote little love notes to hubby. Nothing much, because I couldn't fit anything big. On one cookie I wrote our initials, on another the word love, on another the word 4-Ever, and on the last some X's and O's.
They don't look as nice as the ones in the picture, but they're even more special. I'm quite pleased with myself tonight! There's nothing like a gift from the heart that you put so much time and effort into for the one you love.
Are you going to bake something special for your special someone?

That's just sweet!
I would have baked something for my partner but he's far away right now. Should have I gotten this idea a few days ago, perhaps I would have. But it's really cute how you did all these for him, I'm sure he'd be happy.
By the way, tell us how he reacted when he found out!
I'm excited for you.
Happy heart's Day!

He will see them in about an hour when he gets home from work. I'm going to give them to him tonight because it's going to be too hard to hide them until tomorrow.

He was very surprised and impressed. He especially liked the cookie with our initials on it and said they made him feel special.

You have to be proud of yourself my dear! because you got something to from husband. It's the thought that count. My husband gave me a bouquet of red roses this valentines. This is the first time he did that in 3 years of our marriage. I was so Happy but I don't like flowers, I do prefer to receive something that I can use such as clothes or shoes. But at least he made me happy this Valentines day.

I also don't like flowers as much as a useful gift, but I don't think clothes or shoes are a proper valentine's day present. A gift on Valentine's day should be romantic, not practical.

That was a sweet thing you did for you hubby. I am sure the people at his work will appreciate it as well. I don't have a special someone to make anything special for, but I might make something for the kids. (Ok, they are special too, but not what you meant.)

LOL, I used to buy my son something special back when it was just the 2 of us. Since I've had hubby around though, the kids don't get any special gifts.
Unfortunatly there aren't enough of these cookies to share with hubby's co-workers, so they will just have to go without until the next time I make a yummy treat.

That is so sweet, I have not really made the effort at all this year, some years we do and some years we dont. We have bought each other cards but that is about all so far! I guess thinking about it I could have baked him something but I just never gave it a second thought!

I am like that many years as well, actually the last 3 or 4 years we didn't celebrate the day at all. Some of those years he completely forgot about the holiday. I'm not sure why I did anything this year, but the idea popped into my head, so I did it.

Hey kats! Your cookies sound really wonderful! I have to start
baking cookies again! I better hurry up before the weather
gets warm and I stop wanting to bake altogether! I am baking,
but will be using a Pillsbury Cake mix. It is called Funfetti!
My boyfriend loves it! It is a white cake with different colors
and flavors inside and it comes out really moist and delicious!
I use a Betty Crocker Whipped White frosting with it and this
time I will add some sprinkles to the top! That's it! It's
his favorite cake at least!

I have made funfetti cake and cupcakes for my kid's birthday parties before, that's usually the one I choose for a child's birthday. If I were to make hubby a boxed cake, he'd prefer lemon with lemon frosting, or strawberry with strawberry frosting. I haven't made him the strawberry one in a very long time. He gets the lemon one every year on his birthday though! That's the one thing he always gets for his birthday, even if I can't afford a gift.

Good for you! I used to make cookies all the time, but since the kids are gone I just don't have the ambition to make them... nor do I need to gain the weight as being the only one to be eating them!!! There is so much you can do to a sugar cookie cutout... they are so much fun.. Keep it up and create your favorite designs and frosting elixirs... stick a stick in the back of them and make cookie on a stick! Those are great too!

I am looking forward to doing this for more holidays. Egg shaped cookies on Easter, pumkins and bats at Halloween, trees, wreaths and santas for Christmas. The list goes on!

That is a sweet thing to do for your hubby
. I wish I could do something for my boyfriend, but he is a few thousand miles away. I mean I could have sent him something, but it would not have so much meaning if I could not enjoy and share his reaction to whatever I would give him. I will be sending my love to him in other ways though, though I do send it to him every day, it does not matter what day it is in my book, you should celebrate your love every day
. Cooking something special would be a nice thing to do though. I would make a nice romantic dinner and perhaps make a tasty desert, like strawberry shortcake and whipped cream, mmmm.

It is important to celebrate your love everyday, and I do try to do special things for my husband on a regular occasion. We don't normally do anything for Valentine's day, but I saw the heart shaped cutter, and decided that would be a nice thing to do.

hello katsmeow
when i make homemade sugar cookies from scratch, i always either make two batches of the cookie dough or i double the recipe for the cookie dough. but i have found out that by making two different batches of the cookie dough, the cookies turn out better than when i double the recipe. and i always let my cookie dough referigerate longer than the directions calls for. i wish that i had one of your delicious sugar cookies right now to munch on while that i am Mylotting tonight! yum. but i was planning on cooking dinner tomorrow night and my plans got changed. and i did not plan on baking anything but i was going to make some banana pudding thou. lol and i am going out shopping in the morning to purchase things for my hubby and my sons for valentine's day.
take care and have a beautiful evening and happy valentine's day!

This is the first time I've made this, so I didn't know how much would turn out before I did it, and by the time I realized, I just wasn't in the mood to start again. I did refridgerate it for longer than the directions said to though. The directions said an hour, and I refridgerated them for probably 2 or 3 hours at least.

The heart shaped cookies are so special, and the letters on it adds weight to the receivers. They will for sure be a significant part of the Valentine day, and your LOVE will be kept FOREVER in their memory.
Actually the process of preparing cookies has already been something enjoyable for you, which is to be doubled or tripled by the appreciation and enthusiasm persons you meant for are to express and demonstrate to you.
Looking forward to a happy day!
