I made 3 cards yesterday |
| |
| I had gotten some card making stuff at Walmart over the weekend, and then the roomie reminded me she needed a sympathy card for a friend. Well, I went looking online for a pix I liked and found it in the form of a brown card with black leaves on it. So, I took that as my format - after a fashion. What I had gotten was glitter stuff, but I did have some colored inks as well. so, I took this glitter called "Brownstone" and stamped leaves on about 1/3 of the card after I had carefully written my message out in a nice hand on the rest of the front. Then I wrote another note inside. I made 2 cards like that, because she needed one for her friend who's mother died and I needed one for a doctor who's father died. I also made one very simple, with the message spelled out in the glitter for her friend who is totally blind and who's brother died recently. And NOW I have GLITTER EVERY WHERE!!!! So, do you find you end up with a big mess when you craft? Have you ever done cards like I did? Do you find yourself looking online for ideas like I did? Or are you smart enough to be able to do these things yourself? I could've done a birthday card, but a sympathy card was harder for me. | | | | | |

| | Try dollar tree if you have one. Cheaper than walmart and they have a lot of different stuff there to make things with. | | | | | | |

| | I love making craft like that, and sometime I get an ideal and not realizing how much work it's going to be or the miss that I will have. But in the long run, I enjoy myself and when I finish I am proud of myself and I have or will bring a smile to someone face. Happy myLotting Snowqueen | | | | | | |

| | Thank ya Snow, I don't know if putting a smile on the recipients faces is the idea, more to let them know they are in our thoughts. but now I want to do a birthday card for a friend | | | |

| | I can see sympathy cards being much moredifficult but it seems as though you have done a fantastic job! I don't really do card making myself but my daughter Niamh (7) tries. Glitter everywhere is a very familiar term to me - I have lost count of the number of times that Daddy has gone off to work absolutely covered in pretty pink and purple glitter! lol xxxx | | | | | | |

| | I found this phrase on a site for scrapbooking that someone here sent me to ... palonghorn - and I didn't want anything too soppy or religious and this sentiment seemed to fit the bill a good one for friends, and aquaintances. | | | |

| | It sounded like a nice idea. I especially liked the writing done in glitter so that it could be 'read' by your blind friend. What does palonghorn mean exactly? Sorry for being so dumb! xxxx | | | |

| | I only adapted the idea, using glitter for the leaves and white cardstock (since that's what I had.) Still, I think they came out pretty well. | | | |

| | I used to do crafts all the time and I wind up with a big mess. But then I learned to use a sysytem. The glitter things would be done over an aluminum tray so the glitter would be confided and then I could reuse what was left. | | | | | | |

| | That's a great idea, maybe I can find a small enough tray to work over to fit on my desk - I did do the last card (and messiest) over a sheet of paper and reused the glitter each time as I added more words. | | | |

| | Elic, It sounds like you did a very nice job on the cards. I use to play with a lot of glitter when I was a kid. My grandmother used it in a lot of her crafts. I remember it getting everywhere and how she was always afraid that I was going to get it in my eyes. Back then there wasn't the small easy to use vacs that we have now. We would end up pulling out the big Hoover, with all the attachments, and Hoover up every nook and corner of the dinning room where she did her crafts. I've never done cards like the ones that you did such an excellant job on. Just the kiddie style ones when I was a kid for Christmas. DCMerkle | | | | | | |

| | I've found to do glitter it helps to put your card in a box top a little larger than your card. Easy cleanup! Sounds like you enjoyed doing the cards. I enjoy making them too at times. It gives that personal touch | | | |
