Dial up internet connection is a very first internet connection option for home users. I used it about ten years ago for the my first time. As time goes by, i think dial up is not suitable for now. Dial up has many limited performance and only run with very low speed if compared with broadband which can be easily find now in cheap price. Have a nice weekend and happy mylotting.

I had dial-up in 2000 but it was soooooooo slow and painful to use, that I swapped to Broadband. I find the experience much more enjoyable and would never consider going back to dial up. At the moment, I use an Orange Live Box which is DSL, but I'm thinking of moving on from that now.
Brightest Blessings.

OH yes. In the beginning, almost 20 years ago - or maybe more, I get confused as I get older heheheheh
It was weird or at least that's how I see it now when I think back on those days, but at that time it was just.. normal :)

Yes, I used dial up, at first it was tolerable, but the more people who went on the internet, the worse and slower it became. Now I'm spoiled because this is sooo fast compared to dial up. People who never had it can't even imagine.

I also think now a days the internet is very fast after the arrival of broadband and I still remember going to a friend's house and waiting for 30 minutes just for the internet connection to connect because it was busy hours and there were lots of people logging at the same time.

Well, I have never used a dial up connection. As you can see, in the place where I live, there is no landline connection. So there is no option for dial up. My phone is wireless and my internet connection is wireless broadband. I guess if there was a landline connection during the early time, I would have been able to use a dial up.

I live in Ky. Before I moved into the city I lived in rural KY and there was no broadband there. Dial up was the only thing we had, so yes, for 5 years I used dial up! Can you imagine!? I have cable internet now, I think it's the same thing as broadband and I love love love it!

Oh my... Even just the words Dial Up scares me. I cannot believe that there are people who live in areas where there is higher speed would ever consider still doing this. In reality it is so expensive really and so SLOW. I have been on Higher speed either thru my Cable company, or Clearwire now for about 4 yrs I would say. I could NEVER go back to anything else. I do too much stuff online for slower speed for sure.

hello ajithlal!
yeah, i have used a dial up connection before when i still didn't have a broadband connection. i used to buy internet prepaid cards, dial the number and wait patiently for it to connect to the server. i remember i either used to stay up late or wake up early just to avail of their promo which is unlimited internet surfing between 11pm until 7am. i would stay up until 12 or even later to surf the net. sometimes i would wake up as early as 5am to avail of the promo and surf the net for 2 hours. ^^;; there were times that i got so frustrated and annoyed because i can't connect to the server. and there were times that the connection was really slowwwww.
so i'm really thankful that i have a broadband connection now. no more dialing, no more staying up late or waking up early to avail of a promo. ^^

Sure. 12 years ago the I accessed internet by dial-up modem. At first the modem speed is 32K and later it was 56K. 56K was already very fast speed at that time. What a big change during these years. Right now I use ADSL to access internet.
I love China

I used it for many years because when I started to get online there was no other option. Back then each minute of Internet use was charged for, like a telephone call. Contracts were introduced about a year later and then I had unlimited dial up use for a set monthly payment.
Now I have broadband on an 18 month contract but I'm restricted to 3GB each month. I don't really know what that means but I did go over my limit one month and was punished for it by having my speed slowed down for two weeks!

I definitely have! But it was a very long time ago. There was a time though that we had to use dial up because we do not have DSL available. The difference is unimaginable. I am so used to a high speed internet service that I won't even bother using dial up even if it's available.

Of course! Back in the days, the only option you have is a dial up connection. Recently, I tried using one but to my dismay. It's just way too slow (once you get used to broadband speed, that is). But, if you're feeling nostalgic, it sounds like a good. LOL

I also agree that those days it was normal to have dialup connection and the speed at which it worked.

.
The machine sounds weird, the connection was slow, but at that time it already looks cool
Longtime ago dial up internet connections were famous and now a days I have not seen dial up connections after the arrival of broadband and I think nobody uses dial up internet connections.
