Well this is going to be a little interesting, so read closely. When I first got the internet about 10 years ago with my 56k modem dial up connection, my 1st piece of business was to visit an adult site. Having completed my visit, I logged off. A couple hours later when I logged back on, unknown to me I was not logged on to my isp server but I had installed a dialer on to my computer which hijacked my dial up connection settings & I was then surfing the net from a different server. Luckily I discovered it & removed it that same day. When my parents got the phone bill, there was a $10 USD call to Estonia attached.

That is really funny and interesting.I am keen to know how you explained this Estonia business to your parents. You get the BR for this original response.

I called my husband when his softball team was in Hawaii. Only had his cell phone number so he was stuck paying the bill..lol We briefly talked since there was going to be a roaming charge added to his cell bill.

hmmm...I make a lot of long distance calls....to my parents in Africa...to my cousins in the US....and a few friends in Australia, Phillipines and Pakistan. Longest in terms of time....hmmm...can't remember....but I try to keep it short....because of the expense..lol. I think maximum of five minutes. The only person I will usually speak longer to(sometimes even half an hour or more)....when I need to...and not bother about the money...are my parents. The rest all of them are shorter..long distance calls.

I think the furthest long distance call I ever made was to Arizona, U.S.A. It was a business one. A friend I'd met online was impressed with the way I was selling his product to people on his own doorstep, and offered me the chance to sell this product in England. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I remember this was years back when I had a long-distance relationship with someone from WA. I would make the sincere call and sometimes I got a frown by the mother because at that time, I did not know how to differentiate the time difference. LOL. Thinking of it now, it has really been such a long time since and although the relationship did not last, it did give me some nice love memories.

Long distance calls? Well i have to do a lot of that in line with my work and of course ythe longest distance calls within my country would be those made to Mindanao. I understand when we say long distance we are talking of local calls and not overseas calls.

Long distance calls are not local calls. It is state to state or country to country.

Well not in the Philippines my dear. When it's a call to another country we say overseas call but when it is within the country these are still local calls in the sense that it is within the country but when it is to the province or to another region then it is a long distance local call. In my line of work, we do call overseas a lot to all countries where we have overseas Filipino workers and that is almost all over the world, to Europe,Africa, the Americas, the Middle East, Oceania etc.

Hi balasri, when having vacation in foreign countries I usually would like to make calls to our family to tell them we are safe arrival there. I think the longest distance call I had made so far was the one from Turkey. Of course I had to pay more for the communication as well. For the sake of money saving I try to make a safe arrival call only for the first day Happy posting

That is the most important call to make as your family will be waiting for the news of your safe arrival.

I call overseas constantly to talk to family and friends and from EGyot I'm calling the UK, USA, Australia and Asian countries. I guess the longest call I've made to date would probably be from the United Kingdom to Australia and that was to talk to my family when I was in London on business.

Hi Bala, The longest call that I made recently is to Dubai where my elder sister is living. Actually she called me up but I could not attend her call because at that time I was traveling so after reaching home I called her back. Mostly she is calling me and in case of missing her calls I try to call her back.

I think the longest distance call that I made was when I was in Belgium and I called my wife in the Philippines. It was the time when I had this training for a month and during the free time, I went to Belgium for a visit.

Mine is from here (Egypt) to the Philippines, I call my family few times a month to let them know I'm okay and to know their ok also. But now I use skype to call them because it's cheaper and sometimes I just chat to my nephew online.

I live in Australia and I phoned my sister while she was holidaying in Italy. I called her on my cell phone to hers because we have the same provider and therefore we have free calls. She was lying on the beach when I called her and I was sitting in front of the fire because it was freezing here; it was bizarre and we talked for about an hour.

Hi Bala! I once called from Japan when I was there to the US. I missed my children and wanted to call them. I actually called them a couple of times in that week. Thank goodness my company paid for my calls. I think they may have been pretty high.

I think the longest distance would only be from Mumbai to Trichy or Trichy to Nagpur. I have received calls from abroad or from distant places,But I have not made them. This is the maximum I can think of. The call to Nagpur from Trichy would have been to speak to my sister-in-law and the other one from Mumbai to Trichy would have been to speak to a friend for an informal chat or a sharebroker regarding some official documentation.

We usually call the Philippines and we take a long time because everybody wishes to talk to my family since my husband's family lives in the Philippine. We usually buy phone cards and is a lot cheaper.

This discussion is not restricted to landline phone calls, is it? Cause, if it is then I really havent had phoned anyone outside of this Region. I dont have a reason to. I mean there are other ways like cellphone or email just to be practical and save on phone bills. Well, if it also includes cellular phone calls then I made a call just last January to a friend who is an 8-hour bus ride away from here. I was asked to call them actually cause one of our friends was having some problems so our common friends asked me for help. They thought I could talk some sense to the guy.
