Are You A PC Fix-It Person...  

Yeah that is my job. I fix computers and internet for 10 hours a day and have been doing it for almost 8 years now. I am tired of it I want to do something else, but I still have one year left in school before I graduate.

"even if they're more educated than you" is a relative term. After I went back to school to upgrade my office skills and learn computers I got a job in an office and part of my job was working with spreadsheets. I got a call one day from the business school and the computer software teacher was asking me how to do something in Lotus. LOL Yeah, really, no matter how much schooling you have there are still some things you have to learn on your own. If your education doesn't teach you to take what you know and figure out what you need to know I think it's over-rated.

Good for you learning technology on your own. As for learning web design, you can do it, you just may need to learn it in small bites, and it may take a while for your brain to make the connection between all the pieces.

well i can fix my own computer. i was trained for 6 months with it but im still honestly not that good with it.

my weakest side is the problem on fixing os errors.

my line of work really is so far with computers but this is what i like to do in my free time.

i have also learned some basic web design like html css javascript and a little php but nothing else.

I like you learned all about the computer by trial and error. Everything that i know it took a lot of time trying different things, and yes i have people call me to help them with different things. Web design is something that i have not learned, and i know nothing about it. but if it was something that i was interested in. i would sit down and try different things until i got it right. as for HTML i guess i know the basic stuff. I never took any kind of class to learn my computer.

I have a friend that keeps asking me Facebook-related questions even though I've never had a Facebook account. She expects me to know everything about everything and is always amazed when I don't. I mean, I do know a bit about a lot of things, but there's a limit...

I also taught myself to do what all I do on puter.
I did know how to turn off and on.
and email was a whiz getting pics on puter was great too .
Downloading ouics to emails and sights are good .
So I think I did great to start doing this at the age of 60 yup got my first puter when I was 60.
altho I worked in factory that built them and I was the line leader building and doing things on puter is alot different!

YEAH,i can fix my own computer and internet.im familiar with most of the softwares and operating system.but im so weak in hardware fixing.but i can fix all errors of my pc hardware errors.i also fix software and operating system errors.i m also a self taught computer person.

I think it is best to learn about computers when you tinker with it. Currently, computers are a lot more easier to fix compared to the old ones, not only because the ports are mostly color-coded or pinless but because of the rich resources available online. (I know, how would you be able to access them if the pc is a no-go.) But still, computers in libraries or a maybe a friend's should be able to provide us with step by step how-to's.

I love researching about computer troubles and applying it in case I get such issue/s with mine.

I have only had a computer for a littles over three years, mostly what I know I ave learned on my own too. My son and daughter in law have taught me a few things, turning it on and off, copy and paste, uploading pictures. I think I do real good considering I haven't had any classes neither. I do have friends that think I know more then what I do. I learn something new everyday. That is one of the great things about mylot, we can always learn something on there.

Yes, I am a great believer in teaching yourself skills. I have learned how to handle my computer from books and from trial and error. I have learned html skills from a book, and I also learned more from visiting various websites that advise on building webpages and blogs. - Derek
