I live a block off the parade route where our towns fourth of July parade will be tomorrow night at six. Well when I was coming home from work....lo and behold! There are tons of blankets and chairs already laid out for people to save their spots! In the first place I don't think I would leave my lawn chairs laying for someone to grab up.....and in the second place...what if it rains! Last year we got a storm right after the parade started with tornado warnings! Then we went without light for about 4 hours! So....do you love a parade? Have you ever saved a spot the day before it was to take place?

On Memorial Day we arrived for our town's parade about an hour early, and most of the good spots were already taken up. For us an hour is too long though, the kids end up getting bored long before the parade is ready to begin.

Good deal.
I can't, and won't save spots as I feel
any spot is good actually to view a parade.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hi Jill!
In New Delhi (India) our Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26th January. A parade of India's military and cultural might goes out on a road called Rajpath (formerly called Queen's way). Every year we look forward to parade. It is really maginificinet when forces get passed the President of India and salute him/her. The President of India takes the salute on the way. All VVIPs gather at the Parade site to witness the parade.

Oh boy. This reminds me of the 'parade' that they had at Fin 'n Feather, that resort I was talking about going to over the fourth of July holiday? You know, where my dad's side of the family was getting together. Every year they have a 'parade' for the kids. As each 'float' passes, they throw candy to the kids. They aren't really floats. People rent golf carts from the resort and decorate them with fourth of July decorations. Some of the people have convertibles and they have their kids sit high on the backseat. It's not dangerous, they go about three miles an hour.
Sometimes little kids will be in line with batons twirling them around. It's corny, but cute to see. This time it sprinkled a little rain. It didn't stop the kids from going for that candy!

I do love a parade but not that much. People do strange thing, don't they? I HOPE THE WEATHER IS GOOD AFTER THEY HAVE GONE TO ALL THAT TROUBLE. U should have a front row seat living that close. Don't get too hot.

I do like parades, but not enough to go so far as to attempt to save a spot. I have always felt that when it is time for a parade, if we intend to watch it, we will go where we go to a place where there is room to watch it. I would not feel comfortable with leaving my lawn chairs and blankets out like that at all. Besides, half of the fun of a parade for me is being able to walk along the side of the road if I want to. Having things lying out to sace a spot would defeat the purpose all together. Besides, who is to say that someone won't come along and either steal the chairs or even move the stuff to another place?

We don't do parades out here and I would not be there. There tends to be a grand concert by local artists at the National Stadium and half of JA is there but not me. I get claustrophobic big time in crowds. Cannot bear strangers pushing into me or touching me. I"ll wat ch in on television instead. have a wonderday day tomorrow dear friend

I thought I would stay home tonight and pack for vacation but some friends came over and I went to the parade and it was great fun.....but to each their own....if you like watching it on tv better then thats what you should do! You have a wonderful day tomorrow with all your kids together!

I always tried to get a spot near the school playground. That way the kids could play on the playground when they got bored with the parade. When the kids got older I prodded them to stay home and watch the parade on television. This was far better than sitting in a thunderstorm or sweltering heat! That was the only spot I ever reserved....in my living room.

I do love a parade. Memorial Day parade is fairly close to our house. We use to be able to walk the mile to see it but they moved it further away. I would never leave anything personal at the parade sight. We live in a good area but it probably wouldn't be there the next day. This particular parade is situated on a main street with lots of traffic. Have fun at your parade and maybe this year it will stay dry and clear without storms or tornado warnings.

Yes I love parades.
I go to a lot of local small parades during the cities festivities.
I have never, and never will save a spot even an hour before hand. Lots of room always to see a parade in my mind.

if it were the late Princes Diana, or Michael Jackson who would be visiting, then perhaps...lol...
. And the parade will pass through my backyard or front,. If not, I'v never done it before. I would like to really for someone famous, but I can't stand the waiting. I'm an impatient person . So I just make up reasons, like I would be doing something important., etc. @suzzy3 (8341)
