Well, given that I hate Rush, am not a partisan apologist, and believe that the children of politicians should be left alone (regardless of whether or not they got preggers even though Mommy is pro-abstinence), you won't need to bother. See, some people can have standards without them being applied solely to one party.

The WHOLE picture is....that no one's kids follow the teachings of the parents totally. The girl was not a child..she was 18. Do children of democrats do everything just the way their parents say? Bristol has been very public about how she should have listened...to her mother about abstainence. I see a family that sticks together even though mistakes are made...what should Sarah Palin have done to make you all happy...denounce her and throw her out?

It real convenient to insult them all when their down...and there is NO excuse for the way this family has been treated. IF you disagree with her politically say so...but don't make fun of her children. It is wrong coming from the left or the right no matter what spin you put on it.

I mean, it was an interesting an ironic development when Bristol got pregnant. Even I thought so. However, using it as some people did, well, that just wasn't cool.

That's just it...those liberal's kids are not objects of ridicule when the get pregnant out of wedlock despite condom use...and their liberal parents aren't torn apart by the media and public just cause their kids messed up that I know of.

Personally...anyone that's been alive for more than 25 years on this planet has probably messed up at least once and shouldn't be throwing stones, should they?

I was thinking of Letterman's jokes. And the reason I felt it was mainstream media...his network is very liberal (and it took advertisers worried about money to MAKE them do something) as well as the fact that the National Organization of Women...another liberal organization...did not cesure him as they did Don Imus. That leads me to believe that since two powerful liberal organization gave him a pass to say these things...either directly or indirectly...to attack her or insult her must be on the liberal agenda.

I agree...we all need to stop this b/s name calling and assuming the other side means this or that and start figuring out how to keep our rights from slipping away entirely.

I don't know, debra, the National Organization of Women DID put Letterman in their Hall of Shame for his joke and the network had said they had nothing to do with his apology. As far as I know there was just one sponsor who had pulled ads from the website and even they said it was "temporary".

HOw sad that our political system is so low that we think that to be a candidate means that you are open to personal insults and attacks. I thought it was about public issues...when you entered politics? It has become a gladitorial event...let's see how low we can sink.

Sad it is but it is not new. Some may remember from history class the great public slandering campaigns of Jackson and John Quincy Adams. The issues were never even discussed and with time the facts became clear and many of the claims made by both sides were not only grossly false but damaging to the reputation of each. For example the Jackson camp claimed that Adams while in his first term provided an american vergin for the czar of Russia's pleasure. I think things are a little more tame now.

Debrakcarey, thanks for your response. I agree that neither party should go after the children of political families. I also think that families, and parties shouldn't use their children during elections. I wanted to remind everyone that this isn't the first time that political families have been attacked, and that it needs to stop.

I have addressed you feelings on 'using' children in politics elsewhere on this discussion.

piasa, I didn't know that Hilary was a lesbian. I have never heard that before, I would believe you if you said Janet Reno is. I must say I did enjoy the Janet Reno's dance party skit on SNL, it was really funny. I agree that John McCain doesn't know how to tell a joke, but I don't know how to swim, so I don't go in the pool.

ZephyrSun, I think that I had already labeled Mr. Limbaugh as a big bag of wind. I do not listen to him. I voted for Clinton twice and was a Democrat back then. I have never liked Rush,

LOL What the heck are you talking about? I don't think anyone left or right thinks that Trig have DS is funny in any way shape or form. I personally would never name any of my children hippie names but, to each their own.

I like both the Mrs. Bushs I have never been able to figure out why they are married to idiots but, I guess they see something special in their idiots. I really like Laura and Barbara, Barbara was like the cool grandma out playing in the snow on the White House lawn with her grandchildren. I'm sure that no one on the right will ever think it's cool if Obama plays with his kids. As a matter of fact I've seen several bytching about Michelle planting her garden. I try not to listen to political "entertainers" since they seem to only be able to make jokes about people that aren't in politics; the spouses and children. All politicans children should be off limits when it comes to jokes, but, if their failed policies of "abstinence only" are proven by their children than yes I fully believe that failed policies should be pointed out. Sorry that is the only failed policy that Republicans are so strong on that fails 100% of the time.

Piasa, you are correct that Bill didn't leave, but the people didn't want him to. His approval numbers are still some of the highest in history. His administration did what Bush jr, and Reagan couldn't: Create the longest period of growth in our history, and leave office with a BUDGET SURPLUS. Both, Reagan, and Bush grew the economy (not as much as Clinton did), but left the country with monsterouse debt.

Clinton's daughter didn't have Down Syndrome, but that didn't stop Rush from going after her, and his supporters just laughed. I don't agree with attacking Trig, and I feel very bad for the little guy, not only is he an uncle at 1, he has a pretty screwed up family, and now the world knows that he has a disability. I have never personally heard anyone attack Trig, and if I did I would not only say it is wrong (to myself like Rush supporters do), but I would let that be known to the author of the attack.

When it comes to Laura Bush, I question the death of her former boyfriend. The women had driven through that intersection thousands of times, and many believe that she killed him. I have never seen anyone call her a man, and I don't think that is really accurate either. The only attacks on the Bush twins that I ever saw as when they got drunk (while underage) at a bar, and nothing happened to them. If that was Chelsea Clinton I would have been upset about it, and the far right wing hate radio would have been all over her.

Git, How many times did members of the Bush administration go on FOX News to answer softball questions when something bad happened. During the run up to the war in Iraq, FOX News devoted their entire channel to pushing the country toward war. Anyone that didn't support Bush's war was silenced quickly by atleast two supporters. FOX had one of it's own "reporter" hired to be the press secretary for Bush, does that say something about their independence? YES it does.
