Are You Waiting for President Barack Obama to Fail?  email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 62/100. bailey2009 (155)   ranked 269 out of 3,984 in politics 3 years ago

Seems like a question that would only have 1 answer...."Absolutely NOT" However, that does not seem to be the answer I have come accross in some of the discussions I have responded to.

There is a group of people that are actually waiting for President Barack Obama to fail...for one ridiculous reason or another, these people are actually waiting for the moment they can jump out from behind the couch and say "HA, I told you so" Furthermore, these people are American citizens.

I think it is disgusting! With everything this country is going through right now...how could you look at your leader and want him to do anything but succeed? It shocks me how many discussions I read on myLot that are negative about our President. Everything from he was not born here, to the stimulus package failing, to his middle name, to his efforts to restore relationships with other nations, to his ability to swat a damm fly accurately!!! It makes me sick.

Get over it naysayers. President Barack H. Obama is the President of these Great United States whether you like it or not. I consider myself a tough critic and I approve of the strides he is making thus far. He has been in office for less than 6 months and the man is going to work on healthcare, unemployment, stimulating jobs, communicating with the American people, seeking feedback, finding common ground where there once was none. I am here to say that I appreciate our President Barack H. Obama and I pray for him, his family and this country. Thank God for blessing and keeping him everyday.

I think that a person who would want our president to fail is sad. I don't think it matters who are president is we should support them because hey we the people chose them.

Yes, Pres. Obama has been getting a lot of heat, but remember that former Pres. Bush had just as many insults, from how he reacted when the Twin Towers went down,
to his "Mission Accomplished" statement, etc. Even now former Pres. Bush is getting flack from the Obama Administration about the "economy they have inherited from Bush." From what I've been hearing, people want Pres. Obama's policies to fail, not Obama himself. His policies may very well lead us to Socialism if he succeeds, that's why so many people are against his policies.

I thought Bush was just a dummy with some sly people behind him from the start of his first pres campaign. I never wished he would fail though. I think much of this wishing Obama fails is being fueled by people like Rush who qualify it by saying they hope he will fail because his goal is to turn the U.S. socialist. I do not agree with that asessement, as I feel he is only trying to fix a system that is obviously broken. I did not like the vision Bush had for the U.S. but it is dangerous to be wishing so much bad will onto the leader of your nation, no matter if you agree with their politics or not

I think that Obama is leading the country into socialism and I don't listen to Rush. It's insulting to say that those of us who disagree with Obama's policies are all just being told what to think by Rush Limbaugh.

If you walk like a duck and quack like a duck... lol

While I have tried to listen to the enemy, Rush, I just can't.

We already have Socialism. Any senior already has Universal healthcare. (We have Social Security.) It is called Medicare and for the penniless, Medicaid. What a cash cow for the Medical Industrial Complex.

And these bailouts are almost totally Socialist bailouts for the Rich. Let us not forget that Both parties votes for the "Socialism" for the Rich what Bush was still Pres. The 2-party system smells.

I'm not waiting for Obama to fail. From what I have seen so far he has already failed. What has Obama done on his own so far? He wouldn't dare and go out on a limb and do anything on his own. He must keep someone else he can blame if something goes wrong. He is the most spineless jerk I have ever seen. I am just doing my best to ignore him and hoping he will be voted out at the end of his first term.

Its interesting that you can make this assessment, before he has been in office for 6 months. This type of rhetoric is exactly what I am talking about.

myLot reputation of 77/100. Arkie69 (1170)  3 years ago

Are you still going to be saying the same thing after the first 4 years have passed? He could have done something great for the people when he signed that first bailout. He should have refused to sign it until a lot of the fat was trimmed off of it. When he was doing so much lying trying to get elected he promised he wouldn't sign a bill like that and it was the first thing he did. If Obama gave a hoot about the American People he is supposed to be serving he could have done some great things in the first 100 days. There was a couple of moves Obama could have made that would have put most of the people behind him but being dirt stupid we wouldn't do it. Now every day he is loosing more and more supporters. The man blew his chances plain and simple.

What are the chances for Ex-governor Palin whipping Obama?

Can anyone imagine how much trouble we would be in with McCain and Palin?

I still wish that Perot had been elected for Pres.

I was and am still totally against this bailout cr*p. I did not consent to these elected contestants to get me deeper into debt.

myLot reputation of 77/100. Arkie69 (1170)  3 years ago

I don't think Palin would have a chance against anyone. The best man for the job this election didn't get anywhere and that is Mike Huckabee. He was our Governor for several years and did more for the people that anyone I ever knew. I didn't like some of the things he did as Governor but all totaled up he did a lot more good for us than bad.

Personally I wish we didn't even have a President or a Federal Government for them to rum into the ground. Our State Governments can do anything we need and do it a lot cheaper than the Feds can. Our Federal Government are hurting the people a lot more than they are helping us. They continue to cost us more money every year and keep stripping us of our rights. They no longer serve the needs of the people that pay them.

I certainly hope that his attempts to expand presidential power and bypass the system of checks and balances fails. I hope that his healthcare bill fails to pass, because I think it's a bad program and bad for America. I hope that he fails to fire all the independent investigators who are bold enough to investigate people who misuse federal funds and happen to be friends of the president.

Since he has been going to work on all these problems you list, they have all gotten much worse. I guess in the case of these problems, I don't hope he will fail, he has already done that. I hope he will find policies that actually work and switch to those.

myLot reputation of 62/100. bailey2009 (155)   ranked 269 out of 3,984 in politics  3 years ago

Is this your actual opinion or are you just afraid of change? There are millions of people, US citizens that work hard every day, pay taxes and do not have any health insurance. HMO's that would rather watch children die than provide them with the treatment that they need because they have assessed their health insurance, before assessing the patient. Health care needs to be reformed for these reasons alone. So called health care providers have been getting away with murder for years with their "selection" processes, choosing who lives, who dies and who receives medical care. It's disgusting. I applaud him for stepping in and doing what Bush refused to do, tackle the problem! Oh...thats right... Bush refused to tackle any problem.....how could I forget.

myLot reputation of 77/100. Arkie69 (1170)  3 years ago

Yes this government backed health care is great. We already have one of the poorest there is why would we want to ad more. Medicare is government sponsored health care. Mine costs me $100 a month and doesn't pay enough to even pay for the paper work to file for payment. My wife spent 16 days in the hospital before she died 4 years ago. Her bill for just the last 8 days was a little over $175,000. Medicare paid a whopping $19,000 of it and guess who is paying the rest of it. Her total bill for the 16 days was over $200,000 and medicare paid less than $25,000 on it. And the people that have medicare are not the only ones that are paying for it. The next W2 you get look on it and see how much medicare taxes you paid. I don't care if you are 20 years old you still pay it.The government needs to stay out of the health care business, period.

Well, as someone who has worked my whole life and has paid taxes all of that time and paid Medicare taxes but who does not have any health insurance, I think that if I am not desperate enough to grasp at a bad health care plan, no one should be.

That's right. I not only have no medical insurance, but I also have a degenerative neurological disorder for which I receive no treatment because I can't afford it. And I STILL think Obama's health care plan is a bad one and would rather have none. Why? Because I care about my country and the direction it is heading. I love the Constitution and the principles my country was founded on. I don't want to see it turned into a socialist nation.

People need to stop seeing every candidate and every issue in terms of what they personally can get from it. Why is it that we have lost the ability to do what is right, even when it costs us something to do so?

myLot reputation of 73/100. SteveSlaton (188)   ranked 236 out of 3,984 in politics  3 years ago

Rollo,

Sorry to hear about your health problems.

I just had a very different experience with Medicare when my Mother was hospitalized twice in December 2008. Medicare paid out over $52,000 on that month alone. Oh, we have paid thousands but the picked up most. Mom died May 4, and by then death was a blessing. If one lives long enough, they get old... The Watch Out!

I worked for Obama in Colorado and this was the first time since 1964 went majority Democrat. I am neither Democrat nor Republican and these are scary times. I believe the 2-party system is largely controlled. I do not think Obama is true insider privy to secret agendas. I think what we see, is what Obama is. I know people who think he is an evil insider...

I join you in prayers and hopes and dreams for a better world.

Obama has many enemies for many reasons. Here are two:

One: Obama is not white and some racists just cannot stand it... Recently I saw an interview of a writer or producer of "All in the Family" that was the sit-com with the racist Archie Bunker being the "star." This person was asked, What would Archie say about us having Obama as President? He replied, Obama's not really black.

Two: In the last week or two I challenged someone here on MyLot trying to attach the label King to Obama. Two days ago I watched a Christian Jew fundementalist on TV talking that God wants these bad times. He read a prophesy that the anti-Christ would show himself as a King over the World... Right here on MyLot there are fundementalist indirectly labeling Obama as the anti-Christ...

I could not be President. If somehow I had been elected, long before 6 months Congress would have impeached me.

Nasty, and I think warped, if not absolutely crazy, rich Caucasian men are currently finding it hard to dominate the world, may well try to bring Obama down, and they are quite willing to do so, even if it means WWIII. This Global economic recession was no accident. The rich are getting richer and the victims are getting blamed when they get sick and die...

These are my major concern.

myLot reputation of 62/100. bailey2009 (155)   ranked 269 out of 3,984 in politics  3 years ago

I think that is the BIG Elephant in the room that no one wants to discuss. Thank you for bringing this up. It is a reality. Even I did not want to say it, but it is true, not all caucasian men think this way, but the ones that do are having a hard time dealing with President Barack Obama being a black man. Thank you for your post!

myLot reputation of 79/100. Rollo1 (2827)   ranked 89 out of 3,984 in politics  3 years ago

Well, guess we can't disagree with the president anymore, Steve says he's black and if we disagree with his policies, we are all racists. Darn, and I thought that I had ideological differences with Obama. Guess I was just an ignorant racist. Go figure.

myLot reputation of 73/100. SteveSlaton (188)   ranked 236 out of 3,984 in politics  3 years ago

Bailey, you are quite welcome.

Ah, Rollo, haven't heard from you for awhile. Honestly, I cannot recall whether you have exposed yourself as a racist or not. But I guess from your comment, you must be white, like me. (Actually I am a splotchy pink and tan, old f*art, with freckles, and a growing number of age spots.)

You do enjoy twisting and distorting, so you are not like me.

There are lots of things that Obama has supported and done that I have openly opposed. I promise you I am neither racist nor bigot, so you "argument" is faulty.

Anyway, my public record shows before the election was over that I opposed Senators Obama and McCain who joined President Bush with the first $700 billion bailout attempt that failed. You can visit by website by clicking my hot link on My Lot homepage. I am a white, male, USA apologist for this racist, bigoted world that is being perpetuated by some rich, White men.

myLot reputation of 83/100. xfahctor (7620)   ranked 42 out of 3,984 in politics  3 years ago

The people pushing the racial devide, are a lot of the same people pushing the false left/right devide. I'm not a racists person either, but it does seem that my oposition to the policies of the current administration and congress have earned me that lable with a couple people who have been successfully brainwashed by this same perpetuated devide.

myLot reputation of 73/100. SteveSlaton (188)   ranked 236 out of 3,984 in politics  3 years ago

Bailey,

I am honored that your chose my response as best. I wish that my World-view did not make sense.

X-factor,

In summary, while I worked to get Obama elected, before his election I openly disagreed with his vote for the first $700 Billion bailout. I fear that this incredible spiral of deficit spending shows that Obama is being duped and controlled by the puppet masters behind the USA's 2-party "system."

What to do? Elsewhere I've called for a Con-con & you opposed that:

This is a call for a Second Bill of Rights Constitutional Convention.

Yeah, but if he taxed pot as much as he taxed cigarettes I'm not sure anyone could afford it. Besides he wants everyone healthy so they don't need to use that national health care of his. Pot will get you cancer faster than cigs.

I am hoping for him to fail at implimenting his policies , which will fail. Which is quite a bit different than wanting him to fail at running the country, which I want him to be successfull at it. It is vital he do so. But he is ignoring the very things that could make him successfull at this, it is almost as if HE HIMSELF wants to fail.

myLot reputation of 77/100. Arkie69 (1170)  3 years ago

I hadn't said it before but I have thought the same thing. Either Obama wants to fail or someone he trusts wants him to. It sure seems to me like someone is pulling his strings.
