I saw that lady eating with her feet - It was disheartening   

Wow! You need guts to fight back like that! Even though I've not seen that program or know about that lady, I admire her!
I have seen many people take advantage of their disabilities. They make use of it to earn themselves some extra cash. But you can't really blame them because they are handicapped and cannot do things that we can!

I have seen a program about a person like that before, she used her feet to do everything, even take care of her baby. I think it is amazing and a real inspiration, just because you have a disability doesnt mean you cant lead a normal life to some extent. Good for her i say, she must be proud of what she had accomplished.

My heart melt at these sights but on the other hand my brain tells me to appreciate such people instead of simply sympathizing on them. I have met many people with physical/mental disabilities and i'm amazed at the level of enthusiam and positive attitude they carry.

It makes me wonder "Am i utilizing my abilities properly?" and i end up saying "Thank God for what i'm today."

ya,its really encouraging,it makes me count my blessings when i am in an off mood.i recently read an article in the newspaper about a woman whose hands and feet are so disfigured that she cannot use them for her daily activities,but she manages to write one page everyday,her second book is out in the market now.

What a resourceful and brave person she is! Yesterday I was on my way to my father's house and saw a man that was riding a bicycle but he had only 1 leg. His crutches where lying across the handlebars and he was peddling with the only foot he had. I thought that was great, he wasn't letting his disability beat him down!

This sounds like an amazing human being. It takes a lot of strength and courage to keep going in spite of those odds. It is a very nice story. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my God.. that is really sad for that lady with her disability. And staying alone is some more difficult as nobody to help her.But it is still great that she uses legs for all her works and she is taking care of herself for all works even putting the thread in needle. That is really great.Yes, She send a strong message that nothing is impossible.
In my life I seen disabled peoples during my walk on road and as well as in journey. Other than that in real life, My grandmas elder sister has some probs with her left leg, back and throat(especially tongue).Her left leg is nearly paralysed nowadays. While eating she cannot bite the food as we do. because her tongue has very less moment. I heard that nowadays she is not eating well as she couldn't. Too bad that she lived the same for last 65 years.
in taking about one incident happened to me, My leg was fractured during a wrestling match last year and my doctors told i would never get up for next 6 months. but i walked in the third month and in the sixth month end, i won a tough competitor too.
I always believe that if we are failing, then, we are the reasons.
I had the confident with me during my knee injury, as i could move my leg. But I am not sure about my confident if i am leaved to a situation like the lady you mentioned.
Flexibility too needed in using our legs for other works. Couldn't imagine how it will be if i am in that situation.
Its really great of the lady you mentioned.
She is really "Height of Confidence".
It is so easy for anyone to talk that handicapped peoples must find out their talents and exploit their talents. But people who talks never knew about the pains and struggles faced by disabled peoples. They must survive in both daily life and inside their minds. But if one has the willing and confidence to survive, then there is no problem.

no not disheartening, it should give you pleasure to know she is overcoming her disability and living life to the fullest. I m in a retirement home and some here are doing wonders considering they have real disabilities. one has parkinsons diease and her hands shake a lot but she always smiles and say s hi, and she dresses herself in stylish clothes and partakes in all the activities as if she hadnt a problem in the world. she is happy even if she shakes like a leaf at times, and finds it hard to eat at times, she doesnt let it ruin her life. one man is in a wheelchaIr and he writes music and sings and plays a guitar, he doesnt feel any different than us who can walk on our own two feet. I find much courage from their examples and applaud them for their courage. I cannot lift my left arm as I have a shoulder joint replacement but it doesnt keep me from typing my responses here and doing mylotting.

I’ve seen a lady in a similar situation in a coffee shop. She sat down, ordered some food and then proceeded to slip her shoes off and use her feet as hands, it was amazing! I admire people who refuse to let disabilities stop them from living normal lives.

We have a contestant on Dancing With the Stars in Australia at the moment that is blind. He is an athlete and is now taking the dance challenge. He is incredible.
