Where's the BABY!!! |
| |
| So, we went outside to bring in the new box of cat food from the car. Its not too hot yet - amazing for almost 10 a.m. We talk, I'm trying to slip some shorts on under my night shirt and otherwise just spend 2 or 3 minutes outside. We come back in, I move my client's clothes to the dryer, get a shirt & some socks and the roomie says "there's the baby crying to get in." I'm standing closer to the door and I can't hear it, so I know its not the baby outside the door. "no, that's kitten outside" she says listening again... "a little kitten..." Well, I pull on the shirt and grab the socks and go out of the room. No Jool. She's a follower, and will tag along where ever we go so that she wasn't outside the door wanting to come in was strange enough. So, I go on outside and everything is quiet. I call "Where's the baby?" which is how we call her - we did this with several other batches of kittens too, just something we do. I wander out by the car, looking around and then I feel a little brush against my foot. There she is, outside! All we can guess is that she scooted under the door that keeps the big cats out of my front room and out the front door while I was standing there getting the food out. SCARY, good thing she's got that big loud voice we named her for or we might've lost her! good kitty - outside bad! | | | | | |

| | well, we knew she wasn't in that room because she'd've been all over the roomie with the food! We thought she might be in the kitchen, but I wasn't hearing her in there - and the roomie, by the front window was hearing her the loudest! she says Jool was trembling when I handed her to her... | | | |

| | Gosh, i thought for sure the kittne was going to be found in the dryer too! That could have been horrible. I have a really sad story about a cat geting stuck in a dryer...i am warning readers now, incase they don't want to read it. When my parents first got married, my dad decided to get my mother a cat for their first anniversary present. It was a pure bred something or other that he paid quite a bit of money for. My mother had never had a cat as a pet growing up, and had always wanted one, but had no idea about how muchthey liked to crawl into warm, small places for their catnaps. One day she was doing laundry and had left the door on the dryer open for a bit while she folded and put stuff away. Appearently the cat thought this would be a great place to take a nap, as it was still warm from the previous load being dried. Later, my mother went to change laundry around again, and tossed a load of heavy wet towels from the washer into the dryer with out looking inside first (as i said, she had no idea that a cat would even think about napping in there) The cat i guess got stuck under the towels and wasn't able to make any noise or climb out before she closed it and turned it on. I will spare everyone the gory details, but suffice it to say, the cat didn't make it and my parents had to replace the dryer, my mom was devestated when she figured out what happened, my father too...my family are all hige animal lovers. We would never, ever want to harm or kill an animal, particularly a pet, it was just a very, very unfortunate accident. | | | |

| | Kittens are so quick! They can get out before you realize it, invisibly. I'm glad you found her, it's so dangerous for a pet outside with all the traffic and mean people and unleashed strays roaming around. I used to come in from the grocery and block off my dogs' access to the back door before I carried in the stuff. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you for the BR. I was reading through the discussion and the thought of trying to give my herd a bath is a little daunting. Three of them haven't had baths before so it would be like bathing steel wool that is going through a blender at super high speed with the lid off. I also opened my big fat flappy mouth too soon, just after I wrote this Dinglebeary escaped again. I think he found a way out the patio door during the windstorm. I managed to catch him and bring him in the house, but I think part of that was that he was frantic to get back in the house. Right now the cats aren't allowed out on "their" patio until I get the floor replaced and start redoing the screens. But since it's cold they aren't complaining too much. | | | |

| | Eek, that is scary! I'm glad you found her before anything bad happened. We can't let our cat outside because we live downtown next to busy roads and whenever he makes a run for it and gets out, it's awful trying to catch him. I know he'd love it out there but the last cat we had got loose when she threw herself against my legs and knocked me aside to get outside and was immediately run over within about a half hour. It was my daughters cat too. I can't let that happen again, it's too horrible and painful. We love our animals and want them to live for a long long time. | | | | | | |

| | phew, you had me there for a second. I thought something nasty happened to her. A small kitten outside invites a lot of trouble. Neighborhood dogs, cars, even nasty boys can make short work of her. | | | | | | |

| | the good news is that I haven't seen a loose dog since the pitbull b*tch disappeared - she wasn't a bad dog tho, seemed like a shy girl... And the kid across the street would've probably come and told me if he had seen her, he's not a bad kid, and is kind of the leader of the kids because he's been here the longest (since he was born actually) so those dangers might not have been as bad as the cars... | | | |

| | Aww--poor little Jool..I'm so happy you found her sometimes what scares the heck out of me is when I come home and hunt around for my two kitties and maybe can't find one. I search all over the place and can't find, and you have to realize there really aren't too many "hiding" places for them to hide in...Then I think, crap did Pyewacket (or Kissy) somehow get out as I was coming in and didn't notice? I look and look...calling the name...then pleased as punch Pyewacket saunters out looks at me as if to say, "What's all the fuss about?" And I look at Pyewacket and say..."You DID that on purpose to scare the hell out of me didn't you? And I swear he's grinning at me--bad boy! | | | | | | |
