Senator Ted Kennedy passed away without seeing the medical issue go thru that he had worked on for so long. These people should be ashamed of themselves. That man man worked for the better of people in this country for many years. It appears to me that he did not get the respect he deserved.

1. jonakyl (337) | 4 months ago | Are you saying he didn't get the respect he deserved because the health care reform didn't pass, or because some politicians are using his death to try to push the health care reform through?
| |
| |
|
|
dfollin (2065) | 4 months ago | I am saying that because it was not passed before he died and that was something that he was really working on and wanted to see happen before he died.

2. ZephyrSun (3464) | 4 months ago | Agreed. And I would like to add that, damn to all the people talking bad about him. Give the man some respect!

dfollin (2065) | 4 months ago | Amen to that! And what really burns me up is those people that were talking bad about him when he was alive are now talking nice about him.Jerks!

lotterylover (4756) | 4 months ago | That always happens. When you go to a funeral you never hear people say bad things about the deceased. Look at Michel Jackson. He had to leave the country to get any peace. If I remember right they were about to impeach Kennedy but after he died they made half dollars with his image on it.

3. Hatley (20056) | 4 months ago | hi dfollin yes its a darned shame that Senator Ted 'Kennedy passed away without seeing the medical issue'go through and thats because so many people are greedy and'think only of themselves, they dont care if there are thousands of'people who need and do not get adequate health care. I am apalled at the'fuss this has stirred up. and the nasty comments people make because they do not agree with us over this issue. what ever happened to the idea that we are supposed to respect each others opinions, and not'insult them because they do not jibe with yours.

dfollin (2065) | 4 months ago | Night before last the news reporters were doing a street interview of the americans. They were asking people what they thought of the health care reform bill. And this guy was in his early 20's and he said he did not like it because he was healthy and didn't think that his taxes should pay for other people's medical expenses because they are not healthy.Well,I guess he make's more than $250,000 a year, because that who's taxes got raised to pay for this health care reform. And God forbid, this young man should get sick or be in an accident where he cannot work any longer, therefore looses his private health care. So,he won't be so healthy anymore and can't go get medical help because he didn't want the health care reform to go thru.

5. ANTIQUELADY (11077) | 4 months ago | It is a sad time indeed for the Kennedy family. All the brothers are gone now & all died tragically because cancer is such a tragic thing. They sure devoted & gave their lives for our country. W ish he could have gotten in last wish.

dfollin (2065) | 4 months ago | Yes,it is sad for that family because his sister also died just about a week ago,or so.And cancer is tragic. Both,my grandfather and husband died of cancer. It is not pleasant at all.My father also died of cancer.

6. Rollo1 (1562) | 4 months ago | The problem is that the American people don't want this health care reform and they would be unlikely to want it passed just so a dying Ted Kennedy gets his last wish. Actually his last wish was that the legislature would change the law so that the governor could appoint his successor instead of his replacement being fairly chosen by the electorate. He won't get that last wish, either.
This is the US of A and the will of the people is supposed to govern the land. It is not a shame that a bill they don't want has not been passed.

7. irishidid (3023) | 4 months ago | Let's see if I can squeeze out some shame for using my rights as an American and speaking out against this "medical issue". Nope, sorry can't do it. If my own mother had, on her death bed, made the dying wish, I still wouldn't do it.
Let the dead bury the dead.

irishidid (3023) | 4 months ago | To think with my own mind and make my own decisions is disrespectful? To do what one person wants over an entire nation is better? I'm trying to raise donations to help my autistic daughter pay for an education and have her own business. I don't expect people to feel shame for not donating, because they have the right to give or not give. You see, I live in a country where it's all right to disagree with the other person and do what I believe is the right thing to do. I hope I never live in a country where I'm shamed into doing something I am against, but you're more than welcome to live there.

dfollin (2065) | 4 months ago | Well not the whole nation is against the medical reform plan.

irishidid (3023) | 4 months ago | That's your best argument for wanting to control the thoughts, ideals, and actions of people? I don't think even Kennedy would want it.

10. anniepa (9161) | 4 months ago | I find it ironic that a few days ago a few Senators had remarked on different TV shows that had Ted Kennedy been healthy these past few months they believed a bipartisan compromise on health care reform would have been reached. He had that unique ability to reach across the aisle and get others to work with him. One thing that would be totally shameful would be for him to be remembered primarily for NOT seeing his dream of health care for all come true instead of all the things he accomplished throughout his amazing career. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 21 who appreciates the right to vote can thank Senator Kennedy. Any female athlete or parents of a female athlete can thank him for the fact there is more equality for women's sports than there were years ago. He's touched so many lives in so many ways and while he was a wealthy man from a wealthy family he never forgot those who hadn't been as blessed as he had.
May he rest in peace and may he get every bit of the respect he so deserved!
