| Msabu09 (75) | 3 months ago | Me, too - loved them when I was a kid! They were so simple in comparison to today's cartoons - there were no morals, no ABC's, no fancy footwork. Just plain ol' cat and mouse!

Iriene88 (1176) | 3 months ago | Dear dbutheking,
I love Tom & Jerry too, the chasing...the 'hate and love', and how they like to outdo each other...absolutely FUNNY There is one more cartoon similar to this Tom and Jerry is 'Oggy and the Cockroaches'. They are utterly hilarious!
After observing 41 responses so far, it seems Tom and Jerry is 'Top' for favourite cartoons!
The best episode of Tom and Jerry was the 'Christmas' episode! Tom and Jerry decided to be friends and give each other gift. The elements of 'forgive and forget', exchange gift, caring and hope really 'touches' me. Tom got cheese for Jerry. Earlier on he left Jerry out in the cold - snowing, later he invited him in and seated near the 'fire place' and they hug each other!
Btw, I really thank you~dbutheking, for the 'magic touch'. You are the first one to response & make this topic a 'hot' topic, THANK YOU!

I really like the cartoons like Spongebob Squarepants, Lilo & Stitch, and Fairly Odd Parents. I really like Spongebob the best though. I really find it entertaining despite the fact that its a bit childish. Despite my age, I didn't really care much about what others say. As long as I'm entertained, I enjoy anything without looking much about what others say.:)

| | 7. cwong77 (1168) | 3 months ago | that's a long list Iriene on cartoons!!
for me, when I was in those school days, I can remember the following tv slots in the evenings.. we will be asked to take our nap, before we are allowed to watch cartoons at 5pm every weekday..
Monday - Thundercats Tuesday - Ultraman Wed - Plastic Man Thurs - Care Bears Fri - Smurf
and of course on Saturday at 12.30pm, we will lock in front of the TV for woody woodpecker!! Back those days, we don't have videos, or even VCD & DVD, so the tv is the best entertainment!

u really are a cartoon fan eh? you even remembered what day for what cartoon. I love smurf too and can still sing to the tune.
Anyways, my favourite has always been that lazy cat Garfield. I dont know why, but his lazy nature has some kind of effect to my otherwise very fast paced life!:)

cwong77 (1168) | 3 months ago | submerryn & Iriene.. I thought childhood days are those stress-less days that we could have.. those days are the ones that we go to school, back home, eat, nap, watch tv, eat, homework and sleep... muahahha..
I could remember those days, but these days which is nearer all can be forgotten at snap second, which I call them the post-mummy symptom... but whatever we forget, those related to our child, we will never forget ya..
Garfield? oh, I like that too.. and I got a friend who got the nickname of that!

I also like the superheroes batman and superman. Now I watch cartoons with my kids, and they love ben 10, pokemon and chowder and because I watch with them, I came to appreciate them too.

I think tom & jerry have been a part of the childhood in most of us, regardless of which generation. It has become a most-loved classic for a good reason. Even my kids love the show too.

| | 9. meapas (1178) | 3 months ago | Cartoons are not only a source of mirth but it also gives a lot of food for introspection. I have always wondered how ingeniously the cartoon creator with his wry and sometimes slapstick sense of humour manages to pass subtle messages to the adult world through the eyes of a child and how he perceives the adults. Some cartoons show how love is found in small pleasures and togetherness like in 'Moose & Molly'. Yet another depicts how difficult it is for parents to bring up a single child as in 'Calvin and Hobbes' and in the same breath we have a family with multiple children as in 'Hi & Lois',living in absolute harmony. In 'Beetle Bailey' we get to see the funnier side of the armed forces as well as a very poignant love story of a wastrel winning the heart of a beauty. If 'Bringing up Father' brought out the comical aspect of snobbishness of the upper crust, then 'Hagar - the Horrible' brings out the henpecked virtues of a marauding viking. Cartoons are always a treat, age notwithstanding.

Great response...you really have a wonderful way with words,
"how the slapstick sense of humour manages to pass subtle messages to the adult world through the eyes of a child and how he perceives the adults" It is so appropriate and you have describe it beautifully here!
You have a very good selection of cartoons, great job! My nephew love to read 'Calvin & Hobbes' comics.
