Ellen Degeneres!!!

i am excited with ellen being a part of the show too. i think she's smart and funny. i hope she and the other 3 judges get along well.

I am not too excited about Ellen becoming the newest Judge on Idol. As if most critics did not have enough issue with Paula's expertise being a judge on the show, how much more with Ellen? I am not about to make early conclusions though, but for now, it just doesn't feel right at all.

I think it's better that way because Ellen Degeneres doesn't know enough about music to judge. If you ask me, she shouldn't be judging at all period. They just chose her because she is famous. People think that singing is something that anyone can judge. Well, it isn't. I'm a singer too, so I know how it feels when people who don't really understand music think that they could judge my musical abilities. I don't mind being critiqued by people well learned in music, but by people who don't know? I don't think so.

I really like Ellen Degeneres. She is hysterical. Am wondering if she is joining after the auditions because she's also busy with her daily show. She might have some interesting things to say to Simon and bring humor to the program. Although I do think Paula and Simon interacted so well together, am anxious to see how this works out this year.

I do not think they chose Ellen Degeneres because of her love of music. After all, there are celebrities that love music and are fans, but why specifically pick her? The other three judges have musical ability. One of them is a singer, one appears on other talent shows, but did Ellen Degeneres take music lessons? Did she play a musical instrument? Did she study music theory at college or was she in a band and was noted for her talent? I think not. It is for the same reason that she is the spokeswoman for Covergirl and the reason that those two ah -;mengirls' are the spokespeople for Reitman's in Canada, and why one of the judges on Iron Chef America is rather same gender. At least on Iron Chef America although Cat Cora is a same gender at least she is a professional chef and she got chosen because of her cooking ability and they found out later that she was a same gender, but not Ellen Degeneres. But I am getting tired of choosing judges or representatives not on their experience but on their gender. That should not be allowed. Ability and experience should count more than "we have to have a judge" that is of a same gender loving or else the whole homosexual and lesbian community will boycott our station and not support us financially."

yes I am so excited over this and I think Ellen will be bringing a lot to the table and I think that she will be a very good judge and she will bring a lot of fun to the show. I watch her talk show and enjoy it very much and I'm looking forward to watching her judge on idol:)

Is that because Posh will be a guest judge for the auditions?? That's quite a bummer too, because I so wanna see how Ellen gives quirky comments to the contestants and laugh her signature laughter..

hi lilyofthethorns I love Ellen as shes so funny and 'entertaining and she would make a great judge on American Idol,yes it would have been good to let her join to start with. anyway I will really have to'watch American Idol after this,as I do like Ellen.

I believe that when Ellen Degeneres becomes a judge in the American Idol. There will be great singers to come. She is truly marvelous. I hope that she'll be strict so that new batch of singers will do great and push to their limits to show off their talents.

It is really a nice thing to know that she will be on AI. She is funny without even trying. She will put life on the show. It will be an added entertainment. I am sure that a lot of people will tune in more on American Idol.
