At what age did you stop believing in Santa Claus? |
|
I guess it's early to ask something related to Christmas, but I'd like to know when you stopped believing in Santa Claus and how did that came about. As for me, I learned that the "Santa Claus" who's giving me gifts every year were my parents when I was 11 years old. My sister told me who really was putting the gifts under the tree because she found them sneaking the gifts in.

1. aicasalinks (215) | 3 months ago | I believed in Santa Claus until the age of seven. It was when I entered into an elementary school which is a catholic school. That's the time when I heard stories that Santa Claus does not exist as shown on television or movies. It is true that Santa Claus is a saint, short for St. Nicholas. Before I learned that Santa Claus does not visit every home to leave a Christmas gifts for kids under the Christmas trees, I always believed that Santa Claus gave me Christmas presents every year. Well, not literally. It was told to me by one of my elementary teachers that Santa Claus gives gifts to kids through our parents.

3. elenyae (381) | 3 months ago | My parents were cruel and never let me believe in Santa Claus. Yup, they told me from Day 1 that THEY gave me my presents and if I was bad they just wouldn't give 'em to me. That means no letters to Santa, no milk and cookies and no believing in reindeer!
And in case you were wondering, yes, I was that child in school who told everyone that Santa wasn't real. Other parents hated me.:P

moonchild117 (338) | 3 months ago | Wow, that's the first time I heard that kind of story. Normally parents would like their kids to believe in Santa for as long as they want. Well, the parents I know, I guess.

4. sandymay16 (1303) | 3 months ago | I never really believe in a Santa Claus that comes inside the chimney during Christmas. For one, we don't have a chimney LOL and I live in a tropical place where Christmas is always green and bright, with all the glitters still minus the snow. Oh yes we sing Christmas songs with Santa Claus lyrics in it but we knew then that Santa Claus is just a symbol of Christmas too as what my parents explained. But we were told that there are Santa Clauses in the cold temperate countries far beyond our reach and the Santa clauses in tropical countries are the parents or who ever are giving out presents.

5. rivengodwind (118) | 3 months ago | I honestly don't remember - either that, or I just didn't care. It's just that I always seem to have known that it were my parents who were giving us gifts, and Santa Claus is just a little something extra. Didn't spoil my childhood though; I still love the holidays.

7. Tantrums (946) | 3 months ago | I was 11 too when I discovered that it was my grand dad who's Santa, my older brother and I hid under the couch and waited for Santa all night long so that we can get more toys. We were very disappointed when it was our grand dad! Well, I still believe that St. Nicholas existed!

9. overhere (415) | 3 months ago | Can't really remember, guess I was about 7 or so ........with an older brother and sister myths tend to get shattered earlier. Sure wish he did exist though as this year things are going to be very tight and this "Santa" is going to struggle to pull it off for kids and grandkids!

10. cmdr001 (296) | 3 months ago | I never really believed in Santa Claus, or at least in a way that I remember.
I know that from rather early however I knew there was no Santa Claus since I had clearly seen my father stashing away what would be my presents. I recall that my parents still tried to tell me about Santa Claus, but I suppose they were still expecting me to be awfully naive and ignore those large boxes that had been brought home a pair of weeks before Christmas day.
