I knew I'd feel like crap...

Last night I stayed up late playing poppit. And thinking. I had things on my mind and didn't feel like going to bed, I guess. But I'm going to be soooooo tired this afternoon. Do you ever do something, knowing in advance that you are just going to feel like crap afterwards? Why do you do it?

I'm a night owl to begin with so go to bed at a really bizarre hour anyway, but I find I have a harder time winding down after writing articles of which I started an in-depth one about financial aid for pet owners with high vet bills. It's like I can't switch my mind off so I sit in front of the TV much later on like a zombie when instinct tells me........go to bed already I was lucky that I could sleep in though...perfect day for it...dark, overcast and gloomy...blah

If I could sleep in late, I'd be up late pretty much every night.

kind of like my dad and the 6 lbs of caramels... he had to have gotten one killer of a belly ache, but he ate them anyway!

I do it because I get stuck and I just do not want to get out of my chair. Like right now. I should go shower, wash dishes, put clothes in dryer. I want to eat some more as well. Here I am on MyLot, and Gather, and not in bed or shower either one.

I'm stuck. My brain thinks I'm taped down with duct tape and doesn't want me to test the theory...

I am sending you a strong cup of Blue Mountain coffee to get you wired. I don't know why we do stupid things but we just do. The same with me if I stay awake reading knowing full well that I may sleep through the alarm. I then I keep checking the alarm like an old lady and sometimes turn it off quite by mistake. We do these things because we are sometimes sadistic to ourselves, I expect.

I think in the circumstance that was the best form of action to take my friend, because if you had stuff on your mind and had you of gone to bed you wouldn't have been able to sleep! So you would have felt worst, tossing and turning and not being able to switch off. In regards to knowing in advance that I was going to feel crap I had this feeling well when I used to gamble, I would stay up till sometimes 3am in the morning, I couldn't sleep and so I would stay up late even though I had to be up in the morning, I would be psyched up and the adrenalin would be flowing with me as I gambled away, but as soon as I switched off the television and got into bed then the realization of what I had done would hit me, although I would wake up feeling a hundred times worst and guilty too as well as shame. Thankfully I have gone a month now without gambling. But I hear you, I hope you have sorted the stuff out ok ;0)

I presume poppit is some sort of computer game? Do you settle the things on your mind? If so, a lousy afternoon might be worth it. At times, in the voluntary work I do in children's ministry, I work all through the night and keep going all the next day. As long as I'm busy, it doesn't bother me. Sometimes, because of a hectic schedule, we have to drive all night and grab 2-3 hours sleep before the next appointment. On a recent trip, we had 5 days with no more than 4 hours sleep (usually less) each night and non-stop days. One good night of sleep at the end and we were back to normal again. On the other hand, if I have a late night because we have visitors, or for some other reason, I feel tired the next day, and after lunch I have to force myself to keep going. I hope you manage to find a cosy corner at lunch time and have a snooze.

OH I so wish I didn't need so darn much sleep. lol I'm still thinking things over. And yep, poppit is a computer game. No nap at lunch for me. I went up to LensCrafters and got my glasses adjusted and then went across the street and had a salad...

Hi dawnald, I have not had enough sleep for a few days now, I have been up till 5.30 in the morning on my computer and by the time I go to bed its 6.00 then I be up when someone comes to the door or rings me, I think I've only had about two hours sleep if that so yes I feel like crap today and hope to go to bed a bit early tonight, hope you get some sleep tonight too. As you said... i have stayed up late knowing im going to pay for it just because my head was buzzing with a million different things. A different take on it is when I try to take a shortcut (a suggested shortcut) to my destination before i do i know im going to be so mad if it doesn't pan out.. usually it doesn't lol... Sometimes the then and now feeling overcomes common sense. Like... if you are thinking about something or just emotionally stressed sleep is the last thing on your mind... but somewhere in the back you know that you are going to pay dearly with exhaustion for not getting a good nights sleep... just the way we humans are i suppose.

I do that all the time! After 9pm is really my only chance to relax, and sometimes my only chance to spend time with my hubby. We'll both stay up a lot later than we want to, and then have to get up earlier than we want and be tired all the next day. I do want to go to bed earlier sometimes, it's just so hard to stop having fun!!

Oh yes! I've stayed up way too late, either doing something I enjoy on the computer or watching a good movie that we never should have turned on at that time of night, and paid for it the next day. My worst offense involves iced coffee drinks. For a couple of years now my stomach hasn't been able to handle coffee of any kind. It gives me cramps that lasts for hours but every couple of months I'll stop somewhere and convince myself that "this time" I'll be able to drink this or that iced or frozen coffee drink without suffering afterwards. I'm always wrong.

Coffee does a number on my stomach too. Have you tried organic apple cider vinegar? since I discovered it, I haven't had stomach problems...
