Are you planning to participate in the Associated Contents Twitter challenge?

United States

The grand prize is a computer. More than that, however, I decided to participate so I can figure out how to get a little more mileage from my Twitter account. Can it really increase my page views? Let me know if you plan to participate in the challenge, and I will follow you on Twitter!

I think this offer is opened to US writers only. I have not received any notification about it. I guess it costs too much to ship the computer to me if I win. Anyway I dont have Twitter account. I wonder if you are allowed to tweet for all your fans and favorites? Will that count?

Strangely enough, this was in the Call for Content section. Normally when they have a contest, it's in an email. Did you check the C for C? I didn't see anything about whether it was for US only or not, but I suppose that is possible. I originally signed up for Twitter through AC many months ago because every time you write a new article on AC, it automatically sends out a Tweet for you. So even if you can't participate in the contest, you might still benefit from finding an extra reader or two!

Poor Scheng. You need to move to USA. Then you can make all kinds of money.

Haha Mommaj, it's too early for me to move to hell, otherwise I will earn hell money and have annual vacation oh. I think I got to make arrangement with the king of hell. I just help him promote the hell hotels for tourists who want to see suffering in hell oh. I hope this king of hell can provide lots of chocolate and coffee for me.

I'm not a member of Twitter. Haven't even been to the site to check it out. Concerned I'd get so involved that myLot would suffer along with a couple of other sites I like to work on and also Pogo. I do know many of the news people in our area are constantly on Twitter as they talk about it so often. Is there a way to earn on Twitter or is it just for fun?

At this point, I only seem to be collecting new Twitter friends, but no new AC article readers. Isn't that useful? (not)

Personally I am not interested in doing anything with Twitter, so I will not be doing this challenge. I did see it on there, but it did not interest me. I just cannot get into a lot of the other Social Networking sites out there. For me I cannot see the Big hype.

It is a lot of hype. I once wrote an article "Is Twitter for the Birds?" and I am not sure that I don't still think that. I have been participating now for awhile, actively since the contest is going on. Everyone is on there promoting themselves, their work, their company, etc., but no one really follows through that I can see. My articles haven't gotten any more attention from readers than they had in the first place...or at least that's my experience. I thought I would do the contest, just to see if I was missing something (like...the point of it all). So far, no.

I saw that in the assignments desk, but even if I had a Twitter account I wouldn't bother. Any time that Associated Content runs a contest, there's so much competition that if you write an article about the topic, it's just going to drown. And the rules for this one make it seem like an awful lot of work. I tried Twitter once and just didn't like it because it seemed like such a waste of time. I folowed just two people, both of whom claimed that they didn't tweent a lot of junk, but that's just what they did. Trying to follow two people took so much time that I couldn't even imagine what it would be like to follow a whole bunch. I keep thinking about trying it again, to help promote my AC articles, but I'm not a very social person, and I doubt that i'd get a lot of followers. Maybe the contest will come up with some good ideas about how to use Twitter effectively without having to devote too much time to it.

I am not expecting to win the contest at all. I am trying to see if Twitter can get me any additional readers at AC (which I suspect is just a lot of tweeting about nothing). Without trying, I'll never know. The contest is just an excuse or experiment. It's more about twittering than writing. I think that it will probably be negligible in helping with that, but I may as well give it a go. Hopefully I will be surprised. Day one and it's just my usual readers for my article posted for the day. Nothing new. As for following on Twitter, mostly I follow publishing companies, art museums, and newspapers. If I happen to see something interesting, I'll read it. Most of the time, I just give it a glance and move on to the next thing. I understand your point completely!

I think I already have a link to my Twitter account every time an article is published...I'm really not into Twittering, still can't figure the real purpose of it--I'll have to read the guidelines for that contest though just in case I do decide to participate

I am really doing the Twitter contest as an experiment. With only a few winners, even if you are very active, I think that the chance of winning is low. I've had the Twitter account for awhile, but largely ignore it. If I learned that it could really pull in more readers, I might make a little more effort. That's what I am trying to figure out with this contest. Let me know your name on Twitter (Pyewacket?) and I will follow you if that helps. I am AnythngArt on Twitter just like on MyLot.

It just goes to show how much I don't use Twitter. I am not even sure who I am following there. I have started tweeting about the contest and my articles, but I feel like I am sending them into a black hole. Oh well.

Alas, I do not have a Twitter account. I won't updating or following anyone on Facebook either. I have more than enough in my life that needs to be managed. i think the best way to increase you page views is through the keyword formula and by promoting your articles to everyone you know.

I haven't seen anything about that, I'll have to go check it out. I don't have a Twitter account and really hesitate to start something else to eat up time I could be spending working, but maybe a Twitter account would help with page views.

That's what I am trying to figure out myself! I just joined through AC because it automatically sends out a tweet when you publish an article. Does it make a difference? I don't have a clue!

I didnt realize that they had this challenge. I didnt participate. I wouldnt have been able to participate anyway because I dont have a twitter account. I refuse to get a twitter account because I think that twitter is a stupid idea. I really love associated content though and hope that they do other challenges in the future just not with twitter.

That's what they claim, that you can use Twitter to talk about your writing on Associated Content and get more people to read your articles. I am skeptical, but willing to give it a shot. This contest should let me know if it works or is just a lot of bird droppings.
