OMG pye, so many famous people are dying this year..i wonder if there are 'statistics' somewhere onthis? It seems like there are MORE tis year than most years.....YES I do remember Peter,paul & Mary's songs..I loved all of them, they were very influential in 'their' hey day..how sad...lori

Gone, but not forgotten. So many celebrities and people around whom passed away this year. Battle with cancer seems to be quite a common nowadays, and I am really interested in this subject and to find out whether there are ways to avoid this and whether there is really going to be a cure for it.

Where they the ones who sang Puff the Magic Dragon, the song that was really about pot or something? I've heard of them for sure, and I think I saw them on TV together once.

The best song that they ever had was Puff the magic dragon to me. In fact even my wife would agree to that. She had the record when we were kid's and we pretty much wore it out playing it over and over again. Her mom finally threw out the record player, and the record.

It has been quite the year, hasn't it? So sad. Reality bites! Patrick, then Henry Gibson (of Laugh In fame) and now Mary! Peter Paul & Mary were one of the few groups I was able to see in person back in the 70s out in Salt Lake City. I loved the folk songs of our era, and PP&M were among the best renditions around. But, the one song that brought them to my personal attention will never be forgotten by any age group, if we think about it, and that is "Puff the Magic Dragon". It is the epitome of cross-generational favorites!

My goodness, pyewacket, thank you for sharing! I was NOT aware, sadly our news media has not carried this information, seemed to have been overshadowed by Patrick Swazye. Yes, I am old enough to remember, and love Peter, Paul & Mary..and "Blowin In the Wind" has always been a top "pick" for me, as it has always ellicited a warm, and special memory! And somewhere, in my DUSTY music archives, I have quite a few of their albums. You've sent me on a mission, today! I will dig them out, dust them off..and play "Blowin in the Wind" in memory of Mary! And pray that she is pain free..and "Dancin in the Wind!" Thanks, pye, and have a great day!

I wasnt a fan at that time. I dont think I was born then. What does sadden me is that these people paved the way for all of the artists of today. If they didnt stand up for the music they believed in, we would have a one sided controlled music industry. Thanks to people like Mary and Michael Jackson we have experience true and real music. Thanks to Mary and rest in peace. dl

I loved Peter, Paul and Mary. We have lost so many of our old icons this year, it's almost scary. Another to go just the day before was Henry Gibson. Best remembered for his kooky poet character on Rowan and Martin's Laugh In. He lost his battle to cancer and was 73 years old. They're dropping like flies lately. Makes me feel really old.
