difficult for students to concentrate on study during listening music?

i can never concentrate on my studies or homework except when there is complete quiet everywhere. I can never and never will be able to multitask or finish something well if at all, at the last minute right before the due date. i'm virtually incapable of "winging it" for any task of importance.

Well, the easiest remedy is to turn the music off! Nothing simpler.
But if you want to listen to music while you're studying, listen to music that doesn't make you think about it more than what you're studying. I like music on when I'm working, but I can't concentrate while certain pieces are on, or certain songs. Music with words makes it especially hard to study.

Well i think it is very obvious that while studsying if students try to divert their mind towards something like music or television then you tend to distract your mind and concentration from your studies.But for healing your day pressure from studies and even recovering from the frustration and stress music is the best medicine. .You can listen to music when you finish studying or if you feeling bored up to open books, it will make you energised again.But it also depends on what sort of music you are listening.It will help accordingly.

I have the same problem.. And I think I know the reason! Here it goes:

You generally play the music you like and have already heard it many times.. Right? So when you have the particular song playing and you are trying to study, you will naturally tend to hum along or sing along with the song and not concentrate on your book..

So you can try listening to some average numbers, which you might not like very much in particular or you might not have heard at all!! It might work out..

The remedy works for me sometimes.. But still I prefer not having any music playing if I wanna concentrate properly on what I'm studying!!

Okay i have to be honest. Music has never stopped me from listening to music. I us music to read and still get good grades. That is one thing that tells me how much i can concentrate. They say u cant do two things at once but that no it. Here ur reading/studying for an exam or something and then the music is their to put you in a good mood and keep ur brain it rest. Thats what i think. Everyone is different and so as their studying style if u can use music why try to. I can so it is not difficult to listen to music rather it makes reading more fun and interesting.

It depends what kind of study the sutent is doing.If it is math,than don't brodcast the music.It will make them unconcentrate on their study.But if they are learning the subject such as writting or something.Some musics will even help them.

I think it all depends on the music that you are listening to whilst you study. There are certain types of music that are very good for study. Classical music is very relaxing and can be really soothing to the mind. I think that this helps in terms of study, I have tried this myself and I'm able to concentrate with no problems. If you are listening to something with a heavy beat though then can really put you off I think. I think that generally Mozart of Beathoven is best for this. Andrew

i guess that is an "individual" thing. there are a lot of students who study with a good background music. my son did when he was still a student. my daughter did it at times too. it really depends on one's preference, really.

myself, i cannot concentrate with music or noise nearby. i need to have complete silence when i study.

hi...while studying i need full concentration without any disturbance...i cant study during listening to music...but my elder sister does that...she studies while listening to music and guess what her results are very good..she get good marks...well everybody have their own way of studying....happy myloting!!!
