Does Obama already know Chicago has the Olympics in the bag?

Word has gotten out that the Obamas are going to Copenhagen, Denmark, on thursday to help 'sway' the powers that be to give the olympics to Chicago. I think this is a bad idea, because Chicago is corrupt, and two, Rio should get it because South America has never had the olympics held there. Or is the rumor true that Obama knows Chicago is getting the olympics? He doesn't seem like the type to stick his neck out and risk looking like a fool; everything he does is carefully coreographed so that he looks perfect. Thoughts?

I admit, I don't really keep up with the Olympics. I only watch men's basketball during the summer Olympics, and if I'm lucky enough to catch it, women's beach volleyball -- unrelated reasons.
I had no idea Chicago was even an important enough city to host the Olympics. But they did have it in Salt Lake City one time, so, I guess, that's out the window.
Was Chicago in line to host before or after Obamamania took the world by storm?
So, Obama will get to light the torch, our National Anthem--every country's anthem--will be replaced with that "Mmm, mmm, mmm" monstrosity, the Olympic rings will be replaced with Obama Os (not a hard fix), every foreign attendee will be given free food and immediate citizenship and an instant loan plus a healthcare plan, and America will have to apologize if we win the gold medal in any sporting event.
Yay

When did the Olympics become part of the president's job? I agree that it's South America's turn. He needs to get his behind back here and take care of business here. but then maybe it's better he isn't here thinking of more ways to interfere in the individual states business as he is with the education.

He stuck his neck out on health care... he's not looking so perfect in that area these days.
Seriously, Copenhagen is lovely this time of year and the Obama's haven't had a vacation in several weeks. How long do you expect them to work tirelessly to fundamentally change America without a little rest and relaxation?
Chicago is the most corrupt city in America and at the moment, the most violent and crime-ridden. Hosting the Olympics also requires huge cash outlays for building the necessary arenas. Some existing stadia can be used, but there will be other requirements. The economic boom of having so many staying in the city will not be enough to cover the cost of hosting the Olympics. What is even more worrisome is the prospect of really negative international press when tourists are mugged and killed on the streets of Chicago.

I think he should pay attention to his job--he's talked with the general in charge of Afghanistan ONCE in all the time he's been in office and that's when additional troops were requested. If he'd stay in DC, maybe he could figure out what he wants to do-right now he's saying he needs 3 weeks. Probably because of all the campaigning and crap he's doing instead of running the country.

Um, doesn't he have a JOB he should be doing HERE? Or does he just delegate ALL his presidential duties to his dozens of czars these days? Looks like the frequently ABSENT senator is no different as president.

You know, the average person would have been fired for missing as much work.

Lol, whut? Job? Does a King actually work? I thought the same thing. It's selfish, I think. And now Iran is firing off missiles. Oh well.1 person likes this

Well, I just recently read an article where President Obama is up against the Soccer great of Rio, Pele. It might not be such a lock.

He's from Chicago so obviously he wants the olympics to be held there. It will be the first time to be held there...i think, so i don't see any problem. now is the right timing for the city of Chicago they have a backer from no less than the President of the most powerful country in the world. They have good lobbyist there so i think they already have it in the bag.
