I was just thinking about a different discussion asking what you do to get rid of stress, and remembered that rather sweet song 'about be happy. So am wondering if the words of that song telling you to just be happy inspire you in any way,or is it just a silly'song?

MsTickle I have had that do it to me too, and I don't really'think its silly as its such a contrast to some
things that are unhappy. but smiling and laughing might'
just get out of the blues yet.

I think it's a silly song that I happened to LOVE when I was younger. It puts a smile on my face and reminds me not to take things so seriously.

Do you mean the Bobby McFarin song Don't Worry, Be Happy? I like that song!
Songs can make me happy but the best thing I do for myself is when I first get up I tell my dogs it's a beautiful day and it'll be a great one. Then I thank God for giving me another wonderful day. That sets the mood for day and helps me handle stress and feel good about things.

hi tamarafireheart oh I had not heard that in ages,
really a pretty song too. I used to love that be
happy song but I have let these past 11 months
sort of depress me so now is the time to be happy'
again. as Lincoln said, most men are as happy as
'they make up their minds to be. so its up to me
to make myself happy again.

hi thea I do so hate to be told what feelings I should have and that song really at times annoys me, I mean the stuff that happen to us this past year was not be happy time at all, and
when I am happy I do not really need to be told I am happy, cause I already know it. Of course if I was the wealthy guy who wrote the thing and lived high on the hog in Jamaica I could go for the happy song I guess.

hi kitty42 I too used to like it til this horrible economy'
and all the many people here out of work, and that song
just won't do it for me now, I do keep happy as crying
sure does no good at all. For inspiration I always come
back to Norman Vincent Peale's book.

That song has always lifted my spirits. You can't help but smile and feel good when you hear it. If we all listened to those words and lived by them, we'd feel a heap better!

The words do not really inspire me, but the tune is one that absolutely commands a smile and a lift to your steps.

Hi Hatley! I think it does in some ways because of how the song goes but then again, depending on my mood, it could be very irritating but it's kind of trying to say, be happy because being sad or upset isn't going to change anything which is true. But there again, it really depends on what mood I'm in and whether that mood wants to accept the song or not.

cause so many people cant pay their rent or mortgage and its not good at this time
who can keep from worrying right now?

hi bunnybon you have hit the nail square on, right now that
song makes me gag as the economy can not be changed by those
sentiments we need more jobs, and lower rents, and lower the
cost of living, my son has been out of work for 11 months and
dont worry be happy just does not cut it.

I recently played it for my daughter along with “Always look on the bright side of life” as a means to cheer her up after a bad day and for her, because she is only seven it worked like a charm; she sang and danced to both songs.
“Don’t worry be happy” is not so motivational but I admit the words in it make a lot of sense, it is not worth it to spend life stressing about things and always waiting for nothing to be wrong because that time will probably never come!

paula hi yes that is a great song to cheer up a child.
I know you are right but now with my life in a shambles
it seems a bit ludicrous t o be told dont worry. My
family is split up until my son can get a job and
accumulate enough money to rent an apartment again.
but yet stressing just makes one feel bad.

I like that song. I do think it's a silly song but has a deep meaning to it. It's catchy. Honestly I think the writter was brilliant because it's one of those tunes that is easy to catch onto and after you have it stuck in your head you start to take it a step further. I don't know that I feel inspired by it, but it makes me smile and that in itself is the whole purpose. Smiles are contagious ya know and I don't mind spreading a disease like that

hi fwidman yes it does not take into account the very
real troubles we face in this new somewhat shocking
bad economy here in the US. it willtake a hellua lot
more than don't worry, be happy to make things right
again. like a lot more jobs, a lot less on the damned
rent, and bring the damned cost of living down.
