The Nutty Renters Are Finally Gone! |
|
Yes!! The nut case woman and her husband have finished moving out today!! Yippee!! What happened was, I was typing up an email and something told me to call my parents and thank God I did because the nut case and her husband were there and she was going off on my parents all the while her husband told her to shut up but she wouldn't. Then she made a threat that she was going to take a knife to my mom! Mom heard her from her porch so she had dad come out and sit with her to be sure that they didn't steal anything of theirs. As soon as dad told me that, I got up from here in a hurry and flew out of here! Dad had called the police and gee, thanks to this Mayberry Town here, supposedly all the cops were busy at the moment but one would come out as soon as they could. Yeah, one came alright, right after the nut and her husband left! On the way there, we got a phone call telling us that they had left and when we got there, there was the cop. This one was right nice, very down to earth and not arrogant and snotty like the last one was. So hubby and I went inside the rental house and GOOD LORD!! What a mess!! The place stunk to high heaven!! These two idiots smoked like a chimney and had burned holes in the carpet and spilled ashtrays time and time again in two different areas where it's as black as black can be!
Anyway, hubby and I found some cleaners in my parents home and some rags to clean with and we got busy! We were there from 4:00 till 10:00 and we're still not finished but we're close! We cleaned the cabinets, top and bottom, the stove, windows, bathroom and the walls, bedroom and the walls and vacuumed. Tomorrow we're going to shampoo the hell out of the carpet in hopes we can save them, clean the refrigerator, and clean the walls in the living room and kitchen which is one huge room then we'll be finished. (I hope!)
Mom is wanting to help but she can't and looks so sad at us and keeps saying, "You guys have done enough! You've helped us ever since we've moved down here!" And she's says, "I'll never ever be able to repay you guys for all you've done and continue to do!" I've told her "Yes you can mom, and that is to love me and that's all I want" She says, "I do love you but you guys have worked your butts off and it's not right!" I keep telling her "Mom, if we didn't want to do it, we wouldn't. It's as simple as that. Besides, I promised you that I'd care for you and dad when you got older, I mean to keep that promise." She says, "I know but not like this!" Now I wish I knew what to tell her to make her feel better but I don't know what else to say. I don't want her feeling bad because she can't help or because of all we do and so on. I want her to feel good to know that her place is clean and things that need doing that she can't do is being done and that we love her and dad very much. I just want them to have peace and if it means sacrificing mine for a little while so they can have theirs, I'll do it...... I AM doing it!! But I don't want either one of them to feel guilty for it!! It beats the purpose!!
Anyway, have you ever been so happy to see someone move away? LOL I know I am and so is the WHOLE neighborhood!! LMBO!! Now we need to find new renters but that shouldn't be too hard but hopefully they'll be decent ones this time.

1. lynnemg (3590) | 3 months ago | I am glad to hear that those people are finally out of your parent's rental and your parents (and you) may now finally get some peace and quiet. I can imagine the sense of relief and the feeling of the weight being lifted off everyone's shoulders. Your Mom is happy, I am sure, she just feels like she should be able to do more for herself. It isn't that she really feels bad because you are helping, it is more that she recognizes that she cannot do all that she once did and feels bad due to that. It is almost more of an independance issue that anything else. No one wants to admit that they simply cannot do things as they used to. I have been happy to see people move a few different times. The most recent was about a year ago, maybe a little longer. We had some very loud neighbors who liked to party late into the night, crank up the music, laugh and talk loudly outside my bedroom window, and overall, just be inconsiderate. I was so happy the day they movrd.

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | It is a huge relief to have these idiots gone! What a mess they left behind! GROSS!! But by the end of the day, we'll have it all back to looking and smelling good again, God willing!! I do understand what you mean about my mom and yeah, that's part of it and the other part is we have done A LOT but at the same time, we want to do it to help. Not to make her feel guilty or worse. Sometimes I feel as if I can't win either way I go BUT, at least she'll feel better knowing the job is done so I guess that counts for something!

2. danishcanadian (20690) | 3 months ago | Wow, they sound like the tennants from hell!!! Too bad you don't live here. The police station is right outside of my back door, and there is ALWAYS a cop around when I need one. All i have to do is scream real loud, and they'll come down to see who is disturbing the piece, and then arrest the bad guys while they are here. That fact saved my life a couple of times, and even though this apartment is kinda dumpy, I woudln't live anywhere else.

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | Get this, the husband said he's tried 20 + places in mental health to put her in and none will take her!! This woman is a danger to herself and anyone around her. They supposedly live in a trailer park now. She won't last long there because people like that don't take crap off of people like her. She'll be lucky to get out of there alive. You're so lucky to be so close to a police station! And one that works as it should! Dumpy or not, at least you're safe!

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | We had the same thing when we lived in Killeen. This guy was a cabinet maker and decided to be a drunk instead. He'd get so drunk that he'd pass out while playing extremely loud music. To explain how loud, I could hear it from across his yard and mine and still could tell what the song was and I'm legally deaf! It wasn't the landlord who got him to straighten up, but his wife! She gave him the ultimatum to quit drinking and go to work or she was leaving. That did it, he quit and soon was back to working again.

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | I'm sure she will but let me give you a piece of advice, don't shut her out when she's trying to help. It's always good to be cautious but not unbending like my parents are. I love my parents but wish they'd stop being so block headed.
We lived above this nut woman one time in an apartment and she complained about every little noise we made! She was such a pain in the a$$ that our landlord let us out of our lease so we could get away from her. She ended up doing us a favor because we found a small house which the rent was $50. cheaper!! lol

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | For the life of me Jo, I can't understand how anybody can live under those types of conditions! UGH!! I'm a clean and organized freak because I can't stand it any other way! Even when company comes over, I still change the bed linens to be sure they're fresh and clean for them to sleep on. I'd hope it would be done for me as well if I were to ever visit with others, you know? I think my parents are appreciating me more now after finally realizing all we've done and continue to do. It seems that way anyway and I hope so. Time will tell.

6. dragon54u (9761) | 3 months ago | My mom had a bad spell when I had to do a lot for her and she protested, too. I just told her that she'd spent most of her life and all of mine doing things for me and supporting me emotionally and sometimes financially. It's the least I can do to try to pay back just a little of that love.
Find an old couple! An active old couple who won't expect your parents to keep them company. Check out references, don't just hope for the best. Are you allowed to ask for and check references in your state?

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | This area that my parents live in, although it's beautiful and peaceful, it's considered a low income area which has it's ups and it's downs. The upside is, they don't have to pay for their medicare premiums anymore, the downside is, low income usually means, unclean people. NOT always but majority of the time so there is a chance that they could get that again but they're going to ask for previous renters that they've rented from before deciding on anyone. None of us want to go through what we've had to this time around. Mom and dad told them that they had to go. They were given one eviction notice a month or so back but they begged to stay and apologized for her running off with her mouth so mom and dad gave them a second chance. I let my parents know exactly how I felt about that too! Oh I was so hot!! I was some kind of pissed off!! So this time my parents told them they had to be out by the first and that was that. They left on their own although the woman kept running off with her mouth. My parents finally called the police to get them out and her to shut up or the cops to arrest her but they left before the cops got there.

7. EnglishTeaDuck (733) | 3 months ago | lol....I relate to this, as there was MUCH rejoicing in our household when the people who lived upstairs from us moved out!
We were not their landlords, we live in an apartment building and had the one directly below them, so we didn't have any of that to deal with. But my, the woman was a nutjob!
She constantly complained that I made noise and played music too loud. The first time, I thought, ok, bit odd as I know I really don't have it loud - our only speakers are small computer ones and I really don't turn it up loud enough even to hear clearly in the next room. But I thought, fair enough, maybe you hear it loud up there because of the acoustics of the building or something. So I was quite polite and said, yes, sorry, I'll turn it down.
But then she continued to complain over and over again, coming down saying 'its so loud my apartments shaking'. I knew this was ridiculous and eventually said so! She also started calling the girl in the leasing office, saying we were so loud. She said 'Ruth was playing this at this time in the morning' and it would be a time when I was at work! Or she would phone the office while I was there, and the girl would come and knock on my door and say she'd had a complaint, and I would have no music on at all, and hadn't all day!
This girl had also been banned from the coffee shop where I worked for doing pretty much the same thing - complained about the service she got from someone who hadn't been there that day, and once she kept her coffee and brought it back the next day because we made it 'wrong' (too much or too little milk or whatever. But really, who saves and returns a cup of coffee?!!) She would lso vacuum, which we could hear, in the middle of the night!
Eventually WE complained to the office about HER, and said we now felt we were being harassed by this woman. Sh was told this and told to stay away from us.
A little while after this, there was a knock on the door. There she was, with a complaint. Apparently for three years she had wanted to say to me (but had restrained herself - hard to believe!) that at around 5 every night, she could smell me cooking dinner. The smell took over her whole apartment apparently, at the same time each night! (Erm that would be the time I do cook in time for my husband to get home and eat, then!) And naturally she knew it was from ME and not either of the two apartments either side of hers, or the other one below...lol...
This was in winter, it was seriously snowing - she told me I had to open a window while I was cooking, and put the fan on. Maybe reasonable, but not in the context of everything else we had dealt with from her.
I almost felt sorry for her, because she obviously has no life and needs attention to have to create drama for herself, but theres no helping someone who doesn't see their own problem.
So, yes, when they moved out....WOOOT!

8. caroll30 (1093) | 3 months ago | Wow thank God they are gone!! As for finding new renters do your homework. Check their past renting places and do a background check as good as you can. Ths last thing Mom and Dad need are more bad renters You can find good ones they are out there. Good Luck Cats!!

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | Trust me on this one caroll, we WILL check out past renters before deciding on any one person or couple this time around! You see, when these low life's moved in, mom and dad didn't have time to check for references because mom had a stroke a day or two after talking to them. These people moved in the next day after mom had a stroke. Everything happened so fast that it was a total blur but this time, I WILL be sure that references will be checked!

9. book1962 (14760) | 3 months ago | hi Cats you really never have a dull moment in your life but action all the time. I am just so relieved that they are out now and I am astonished that you managed to do such a lot at that place in these hours now. Seems as it it will be fit for a new better tenant soon and I hope your parents pick a nice person or couple now. Problem is you never really know unless they live there.
I have also been relieved when my immediate neighbours moved. I had rented the apartment from a friend from church who owned the house and found out that the old people from across the floor were alcoholics. Bummer no 1, so I bought me some spray for self defense as I thought you never know whether their key maybe fits in to that lock here and one of them stands in the apartment totally drunk. LOL. didnt happen but I also soon found out they were letting illegals live in one room f their apartment over there and so you could hear these transfers in the middle of the night. Sigh. You bet I liked it very much when they moved out from there and it was much quieter when they were away.

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | No there isn't a dull moment in my life. At least not when I live near family. When hubby and I were in a different state, things were much calmer which we so loved! But now that we're close to "home" things have gone haywire which is normal. Hubby and I had most of 15 years of peace. I guess it has to end some time. While away, I did come home to help when my granddad was dying and then again when my grandmother was dying and both times, it was hell but I had no home of my own to go to to get away. Even at my parents house, I had no bedroom to get away either, I slept on the couch or the floor! Now I DO!! But the down side is, I'm more or less stuck here and there's no going home in a different state.

book1962 (14760) | 3 months ago | hi Cats I know and thats the reason why I would not recommend you to build another house on your own property for your parents. When you feel overwhelmed now as you still do have half an hour "driving space" between you and them what will happen when they would practically be next door. You would be sucked in even more into their bickering and argueing. I so feel with you. Living a 15 minutes bus drive from my mother when I still was in my hometown was great, it gave me the much needed breather from all her perfectionist and sometimes silly rules around the house I still had to follow as a grown up person who earned her own money. But since I live here in Lippstadt things are even better for me and I dont regret that I did that and got married and moved here even though some very "well meaning" (reads: Condemning) people will judge me for having deserted family.

CatsandDogs (5147) | 3 months ago | Hi cher, I don't mind you're asking! Not at all but I wish I could tell you but I can't because it varies so much. I've made up to a dollar and some pennies before but that's working on the lot all day long. But I do make a bit more with making discussions and responding to them too as well as responding to other discussions too. Mylot has changed is paying system so I haven't been able to make a dollar a day for a long time besides, I've been quite busy too to even think about spending a day on here, as you well know. BTW, I didn't mean to ignore you when you were so kind to give me your email address!! I really do appreciate that and would email you if I had the chance but instead, I put it up on here instead. I can give you my email address in a pm if you'd like? I'll email you back, I promise!
