NC church to burn bibles and Christian books....

This is just WRONG on so many levels... IF the pastor doesn't like certain books, or music, etc. then don't have it in your church.. BUT to BURN books is totally assinine if you ask me... Books are sacred items to have to pass down thru the generations.. Many different books have been burned at school libraries, for the inane purpose of stopping students/people from reading them... Personally if they were to burn any books around where i live, I would be there in protest for sure..lori

Hi Ravenladyj, These are my thoughts exactly, this man is taking us back to the middle ages when The Christian church burnt any books that didn't agree with their teachings.This Pastor seems to be setting himself up as God and the one who knows the whole truth. I happen to love the King James version of the Bible but I don't think it holds any more of the truth than any other version, there are always some changes being made but mostly to clarify things for the younger people of today. I like the KJV because I love the language of that period in history and also because I grew up with it. I always had a great fascination for the book and enjoyed reading it even as a child. Of course, I no longer take it literally and realize that there have been many changes and much of the original teachings left out. Blessings.

I was watching something a couple of days ago which included a meeting with the Crown Prince of Serbia whose family had been in exile for sixty years while the dictator Tito ruled (what was then Yugoslavia).

The royal palace had survived but Tito had made changes, adding red stars to the painted ceilings and other decor. The Prince showed the crew around including the chair where Tito sat to watch films and so on.

"How come you haven't changed it back?" he was asked.

"Because only tyrants erase history" was his reply.

It's only a matter of time before christian people start attacking each other because of the varied interpretations of their fictional book. I don't agree with the book burning but well it just shows how ingrained intolerance is in the christian religion. They aren't tolerant of their own.

Personally? I think it's ridiculous and childish and stupid and reveals much about the character of those involved. But it's also free speech and as long as they aren't burning MY books they are free to do whatever they want on their own property.

It's like that whole recent 0bama's-face-on-the-flag debacle; yeah it's incredibly offensive and it pisses me off to no end, but if those losers want to waste their welfare checks on 0bama flags then they're only embarrassing themselves. I won't be buying an 0bama flag and I won't be attending any churches that believe in burning books.

I can not understand why the Pastor of Church would be burning bibles. It is not right to burn any version of the bible just because they do not agree with what is written in it. They do not have to believe what is written and do not need to have any of the King James version at the church. If he does not like the music than just do not play it in his church.

What sort of message is this sending to the congregation? And why haven't they fired this guy? Yes, they can fire him. Of course they could be like Fred Phelps brainwashed congregation and go along with whatever he says.
This is why religion is a bad thing. Not Christianity, but religion. I swear some are so stuck into their religion if the pastor told them to worship dog turds, they would without question.

The Baptist do have a hard time agreeing with anyone else that is why there are so many different kinds of Baptist. They can't even agree among themselves. If they were to get together what a large force they would be to reckon with.

I don't believe that church has Christian Members...true christians would not act in that manner...that displays hatred for other people that you don't agree with.
Christians would accept the differences with other people, and love them for who they are, even though they disagree with their beliefs.

Sad to hear this is happening. Why did that Pastor think of such nonsense when in fact, it is still the Bible that he is burning. Who can understand other languages if KJV was the only Bible he allows his members. What does he think about other Bibles translated in different tongues?

About music and other books by different authors, well it is really sad to hear that if he is not agreeing with those, then better leave it alone and tell his members not to buy nor read or listen, but to burn, well it is something that he is against and he does not respect them too which is why most people over abused the word Christianity and Religion are all the same when in fact, it will never be because of people's mentality.

If you don't agree with what others have in mind, then respect them. God gave us free will to choose and we cannot force anyone about it less we become something like a dictator.
