Do you believe the expired date printed on the products? Will you check it? email this discussion to a friend?

When I go to the large supermarket, I did not quite pay much attention on the products expired date. As I believe there is a perfect testing system running around so that the prouduct quality can be guaranteed. But one day I realized that the product date printed on the pork packaging is the future date.

From that time on, I do not quite believe in the date they printed. And I heard that the expired date should have 3 month space between the period that products born to the printing.

Do you believe the expired date printed on the products? Will you check the expired date before you checked out? Or do you think there is a trick for the expired date?

I always check the expiry date of the products I buy. But it is still allowable to use the products most products have a one to two months allowance.

Last time my mom picked out about 10bags of sausages from the fridge and asked me to check if it was still allow to use. Unfortunately, the expiry date had already gone! Then my mom sighed and said, "Help me throw it into the dustbin. I feel so sad that I don't dare to throw it away!"Yep, we believe the expiry date and every time we buy things we will check the expiry date. It's a must for food products, we think.

Thanks for your response. Yeah, we should mind the perishable products. If the expired date is far more away, it is very dangerous to take it. Except for wasting money, it has the high risk to hospitalize.

Happy mylotting.

yes, I take those expiry dates seriously although there is a margin of tolerance on the expiry dates indicated on the products, why gamble? Always check the expirations and avoid those products with ending expirations date and consume the products immediately as much as possible and don't wait till it's near expiring, again better safe than sorry.

myLot reputation of 97/100. sasalove (414)   ranked 125 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  1 month ago

Yes, I agree. If the consuming products are near expiring, I will not take the risk to buy it even though it is on sale. You know, supermart has the products on sale as soon as the expiry date is coming. We should be careful while happened to such kind of trap.

Hi!!
I always check the expiry date of the products I purchase and I totally believe on the expiry dates printed on the products as it is mandatory for the companies to print the expiry dates as per the Government rules.Expiry date helps you to know the shelf life of the product especially medicines and makes you aware when to stop consuming the product. In India there are various quality testing companies made by Government who test the various products before them coming to the market and if you see a particular product certified by that association then you can be sure about the quality of the product. If the products are consumed after they have crossed the expiry date they might prove harmful and can lead to severe consequencessad.

Thanks for your response.
It is great that the products will be certified by the authorized association to ensure the prouduct quality in your country, but I assumed that it is some of the organizer will apply those certification. Some of the enterprise will make trick on that if their products are in slow sales.

I try to believe it, after all there is only thing we can trust if you do want to eat it. but i believe that even though the expired date was printed, but some of them are not true, i once had a bread which supposed to be produced on the next day. Well if you want to eat the products, you have no choice but to believe the printed expired date, otherwise what other ways you can do to test the products?

myLot reputation of 97/100. sasalove (414)   ranked 125 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  1 month ago

Sometimes nobody can help but to believe for the expiry date. Just hope that the government can propose the mandatory policy to ensure the quality of the products.
Thanks for your response and happy mylotting.

There is always a little extra time past the expiration date on any product during which the product is still safe to consume. But the truth is that the quality of even non-perishable items diminishes over time, so the "best if used before" date is probably pretty accurate. You won't get sick if you eat it after that date, but it won't taste as good.

I try to buy products with the expiration date that is furthest into the future. Usually we use products long before then, but it's best to be safer than sorry.

myLot reputation of 97/100. sasalove (414)   ranked 125 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  1 month ago

Yes, it is true that it is best to be safer than sorry, particularly for those perishable products and those you are planning to share with the kids. I also like to pick up the proudcts which is the furthest into the future, which makes me feel more safe than that of others.

Thanks for your response and happy mylotting.

Yes, I do. Especially concerning children, I think I must be careful.
Sure, most products have some security time allowance. Providing they are stored in the correct conditions.
But when I am buying something, I think the retailer must also be careful.
I'm not sure what happens if the products are given back to the manufacturer, anyway...

Hi aefrosa: i can't agree more with you. We can not be neglectful with our own health there's a lot of risk when you eat something expired and it's worst to give a little kid something that could make a damage on his health.

I believe the expired date on any package. Although I know some are not correct, we can be a little flexible with it. However I think it’s a good habit to keep my eye open on the last date.

However my husband totally doesn’t believe in it. He had the work experience at a supermarket. He thinks it’s just a way the producers let consumers to buy their products and consume it as soon as possible. So now I have to keep my eye open on the food my husband bought and pushed him to eat old food first when he takes food from fridge.

myLot reputation of 97/100. sasalove (414)   ranked 125 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  1 month ago

yes, I was advised by my friends also who has the work experience at a supermarket. It is true that the expiry date is just the regular informaton on the packaging. If the products are not easily to perishable and nearly to the expiry date, they will get rid of the original one and replace a new expiry date. Consumer like us can not distinguish easily. Sometimes we just felt stomachahe that we will not think of the fault of the food we bought in the market unless we got the food poison there, otherwise we will not claim the supermarket on that.

Your husband is willing to eat the old food?raspYou are so cruel to your husband.

Hi sasalove: it's better to pay attention to the expire dates before buying products. It's all about your health. Even they're not the exactly dates of expiration i won't accept a product expired and if i bought one by mistake i will go back to the supermarket and return it with my invoice.

myLot reputation of 97/100. sasalove (414)   ranked 125 out of 19,055 in questions & answers  1 month ago
