Does it matter what religion you are?

I think all religions are that same aims. Aproaching God. But each religion has different . If procedures respect the religion of someone else, i am sure not going to be a war caused by religion. Probably in Iraq is the seizure of oil fields and it becomes politicized religion.

I don't care about anyone's religious preference either but I have seen some postings on mylot in which others criticize specific religions etc. It's difficult for me to understand the mentality that uses religion as a reason to start wars or to hate other people because they believe differntly than you do. I don't think that the actual principles of any religion condone hatred and murder.

We are all children of God. We are all at different levels of learning. Hate and war will never be the right answer. Some do have to learn this. Everybody wants to rule the world. Maybe there is wisdom in having so many religions. All religions do have one thing in common. They all are teaching you to love. Funny how our differences are more important than what we have in common.Hmmm??? Don't we choose what we deem important in this world??? Maybe it's time for better choices.

Do you feel that if someone is the opposite of your religion you need to hate them or fight them?


OMG NO! That is SO NOT what I am about nor is my personal spiritual path...What religion, sexuality, race, social status etc another person is IS NOT important to me....What IS important is their character, the type of person they are ya know...

Each soul is potentially divine, the goal is to manifest this divinity within by controlling nature: external and internal. Do this either by work, or worship, or psychic control, or philosophy by one, or more or all of these and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines, or dogmas, or rituals, or books, or temples, or forms, are but secondary details.

No religion in its true form is opposite to or asks its followers to be against any other religion that exists. Every religion ultimately shows the same Truth if followed righteously.

And most wars which happen surely are politically influenced, religion is used and insulted in the process.

Hi itsmauricecassidy, You are right, it doesn't really matter, however, I think it would be much better if we got rid of all religion and turned instead to Spirituality. While I agree that all religions have some good in them, it has caused hate and wars down through the centuries. Spirituality accepts all as children of the universe each with a right to be here. It focuses on the fact that we are all one.The essence of spirituality is the search to know our true selves, to discover the real nature of consciousness. This quest has been the foundation of all the great spiritual teachings, and the goal of all the great mystics. Most spiritual teachings also maintain that when one comes to know the true nature of consciousness, one also comes to know God. If God is the essence of the whole of creation, then God is the essence of every creature, and every person. This is why the search to discover the nature of one's own innermost essence is the search for God. Of course I don't think that we will get rid of religions that easily but if we could all learn to respect each other and focus on the good in all such teachings, we will have come a long way. I think it's ridiculous to argue or fight anyone who differs with you regarding religious beliefs. You'll never change anyone's mind through those methods. I do, however, think that if you believe the other person is believing something that is wrong, you have a duty to correct them.

We should understand each other and live in peace harmony. We may convey the message others to those who are interested. We have the right to choose what we believe.

We should now fight with others for no reason.

Dirty politicians sometimes use the religious label to gain the support and to achieve their goal through crooked ideas. They are misusing religious name and bringing bad names to those religions.

May Almighty God guide us to the right path.

You know that old saying, "A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still." You can't fight someone into believing as you believe. You can pray for them and try to teach them, but if they won't believe as you do, all you can do, after that, is walk away.
