Collars on cats

hi jugsjugs we never put collars on our cats either because there are many things they could get stuck on and cats tend to freak out and hurt themselves when this happens. thats scary that someone tried to strangle your poor kitty with its own collar. i would hunt them down and kill them but thats just because im loony. but i have also had that people trying and it looks like succeeding in stealing my moms jack russel. she was so energetic she could not be kept in the yard and would run off for the day often but would come home always unless someone picked her up and called us as she had a collar with an id tag and rabies tag she also has a micro chip so a shelter would know who she belonged to. well one july she didn't come back and no one called. we didn't see her for a few months and then she suddenly appeared with a different collar and no tags we tried to keep her at home but she was sad about being kept on a leash when she was outside and escaped again so this went back and forth for a wile she always came home with a different collar and they usually had wear on them like these people are tying her up too but we cant find them because theres a large area she could be in and we have tried posters with no luck my mom really misses her little dog and those people taking her and trying to keep her make me so mad>. <

WOW jugs..That does sound like someone wants to claim your cat. I would get the word out that this is your cat and he has a home with you. I agree with the fact that you shouldn't put collars on cats. I have seen several cats in the past get tangled and end up hurting themselves. I hope you can find where that collar came from.

Was it a flea collar, perhaps?

of the collar puter oner.but some people will do anything to get
what they want. But to put a purple collar on,that would really
stand out and I do hope someone is not stalking your kitty cat.

I do think you have a cat shopping dinner in the neighborhood.
Now, I have 2 cats in collars. Both are to help us tell them apart from the other cats with a similar coloring.

Ping has a blue collar. Tuti has a pink one that says "Fat Cat" on it. Ping has had this collar for many years, (only been replaced once). It so we can more easily tell him from his brother, Pong, and Taj. Tuti is one of our 5 (at the moment) black cats, and we'd rather put the collar on Scamp or Nef, but neither of them allow a collar to remain on any longer than it takes to slip it off.

When Oliver was a kitten he was such a terrorist we collared and belled him until he finally got rid of it, by then, he was old enough not to be such a PITA to the older cats.

I don't like putting collars on my pets most especially cats. But there is one exception. I have this fat stray cat that I was able to pick at the parking area of the mall. I have asked the guard and the management if I could take home the cat. They just told me that whenever someone claims her I should surrender her back and asked that I leave my contact details. So I took the cat home. I was scared the cat might run away again so I put a collar on her. I made sure that it is not tight so as it may choke her.

Mine do not wear them, but I have known of cats getting choked by them. They also do not like them. They have worn flea collars, but now we treat fleas other ways.

Well, one good thing- a male that has been fix usually is easier to manage and keep at home. If you had a collar or one of those imbedded micro chips at least you would have something that showed he was yours if the need arose. Hope you don't have any problems. We had a lady in our neighborhood that tried to adopt our blue seal cat and she said we were starving him and mistreating him. He was a male cat and so he was out alot and thin. Some people need to pay attention and perhaps go the Animal Shelter and get themselves a cat or dog.

yes it does sound like somebody is trying to claim him be careful, some body stole two of my cats and now my cats never get out of the house. I will not lose anymore of them. I have 3 cats now.
