Do You Think the NBA Should Retire #23?  

It'll be great if the NBA retired #23! It will be like the NHL retiring #99.
The only problem is, if they did this, they open the door for problems in the future. Sooner or later, other players would also want their numbers retired in the league. Who will be the judge of that? Who will decide if they should consider retiring the number?

Well I don't know there have been players that have been better then Michael Jordan that haven't had there number retired. Bill Russell won eleven NBA championships with Boston and his number is retired for all teams. Wilt Chamberlain was also an amazing player and his number is retired either. I guess if they are going to start permanently retiring people's numbers Michael Jordan is a good start but they'll start running out of numbers if they retire to much. Lol.

I don't really think #23 should be retired by the whole league. Michael Jordan was definitely an unbelievable player, but it seems silly for teams he crushed to be retiring his jersey! It kind of defeats the purpose of retiring jerseys...it's supposed to be about individual teams honoring their legends. I do agree with you that Jordan would make a great new logo. He is the best basketball player to have played in my lifetime for sure so it would seem fitting. However, I understand why people might want to keep West just for tradition's sake. Otherwise people will want to change the logo every few decades...in 20 years, people will be saying, "Make LeBron the logo!"

I honestly do not think they should retire the number 23 at all. that is my favorite number. I am sure it will be a favorite for alot more people to follow also. I think it should remain available for other people.

Since that is a popular thing to do in the NBA and a high honor I would say yes, they should retire that number in honor of Michael Jordan who was obvioiusly one of the best players to ever play in the NBA I think it is only right to retire his number and keep it his special number for all time.

On the radio, the skeptics were saying it's just a ploy by Nike to sell more LBJ #6 jerseys and that he's disrespecting Julius Irving and Bill Russell, who both wore #6.
Bill Russell only won 11 championships in his 13 years playing.

i think that number should'nt be retire...well for most,, like basketball,, the number is memorable to everyone,,,and it gives inspiration to others especially the young ones that played basketball....its their dream to accomplish the said achievements..like Kobe...he switch number coz he know that he accomplish what he has to do in his career for now ^^

OK I like the idea for the Logo. But the #23, that number changed the game as we know it now. i feel he opened the game of basketball to a new level, including the rest of the world. I am all for both ideas. the only problem i see is what about the rest of the players that were at his level, like Larry Bird, and others

as Jordan retired or retires I think the jersey no. should be reitered and hung up in the hall of fame!

YES.The number represent a legend.It will motivate everyone.
