Children on their bicycles with no lights at night  

they eiterh dont care or very stupid to ride with out lights at night or even dusk.

I don't know. It's very sad to see safety issues not taken into consideration. It's can hurt them, but it can also ruin it for the ones who are following the safety guidelines (fellow bikers). It can ruin it for someone (like you said) who accidentally crashes into them and has to live with it. As for the kids, how old were they? I've seen some seriously young kids' just walking alone around my neighborhood, not a bike, but it worries me when kids' that young run around by themselves.

Now they all know better than this. If there was an adult with these children, then they are very much responsible. They should always wear light colored at all times. Never wear dark clothing at night. People need to think smarter than they do already. It is a shame that so many lives are lost because of careless people. They need to be very careful when wearing dark clothing. I hope the officer sites them or give them some kind of ticket. Someone could have died that night.. Besides children should not be riding their bikes during the time that it is dark... The adults that were with then no better than this.

Hi jugsjugs, There is no doubt but that safety has to be the number one issue here. I'm not sure what can be done to stop it outside of giving a ticket to every person who don't have a light on their bike. The bike should also be impounded until such time as they get a light for it. If the driver of a car hits the bike and injures or kills the person riding it, it may not be his/her fault but it is still something that would trouble most people for the rest of their lives. I think issues fines and taking the bikes might be the only answer for most people. Blessings.

No, people don't think and I'm so glad that group was stopped. Many people ride bikes where I live and our deputies will stop you if you don't have a reflector and a light...even during the day. We also have a problem with people riding around on golf carts, which is not a problem during the day, but some of them have no lights and they're out there at night, too.

I think that it is happening in many parts of the world. I also have seen a lot especially those teenagers who rode their bikes without any lights. I believe that they know the dangers of their actions but they are hard-headed by still doing what they do. I hope that there will be more stricter cops who will see to it that these kind of people will not do it indiscriminately which may cause lives.

There are places with bicycle lanes but I haven't seen one in our place. I think that it would be safer to have that so that the flow of traffic for cars will not be disrupted. I have seen some of these youngsters biking in groups and they occupy a bigger space of the road. Sometimes they go slow which really disrupts traffic. Most of the bikes I see here have reflectors pasted on their bikes but I don't see a lot of bikers on the highway though -- they choose to ride on smaller roads.

Oh that was very dangerous for the children who are biking without reflecting top lights. The parents should check first their bicycles before riding on it or later maybe they will be on trouble.

It is sad to note that many bikers are doing this. This is also very common in our area. It is really dangerous and I know that its really a problem with car drivers considering that they are very difficult to notice along the road most especially if the road is not well lighted. I hope that this people will understand the need for safety and will put some reflectors and even lights on their bikes the moment they travel along the road at night.
