The only debt we have is our mortgage and what we just got due to Christmas. I spent about $500 dollars more than I should have and now have to find money to pay that off. I will work diligently on line to make more money by the end of this month to help with that. I am also not going to buy any groceries other than milk and orange juice, for the next week, and I am only going to make meals out of what we already have in the house. I am also going to try to quickly read a couple of books that I got for Christmas so I can sell them on line and get some money back for them before their values go down.

We just got groceries, and I am hoping to make these last for at least 10 days. it's hard because while my husband wants us to get out of debt, he has trouble cutting back on things like groceries. He's fine with cutting back on everything else so it's not too big of a deal.

Our plans are to only buy exactly what we need or are going to use.I am really sorry to hear your husband lost his job, what a blow.At least you are able to help a bit.I am not in that position after a breakdown two years ago my husband has flatly refused to let me do any thing.I am trained as a cook and the stress of the kitchen and the way we were treated there ,left me with exhaustion as soon as the stress sets in I pass out.So I do what I can around the house to save as much as possible, cheap meals.wash by hand, use a carpet sweeper instead of a hoover. In actual fact I feel like my granny. That is not a bad thing it is back to basics, not waisting a penny ,use stale bread up in a bread pudding. It makes me feel like I am helping him out and doing my bit.It is true if you look after the pennies the pounds look after themselves.I buy really cheap cleaning products and supermarket meat and food.No brand names in my cupboard unless of course it is a special or I get a voucher. We also turn off everything we are not using in the electric line.lights only go on if necessary/heating goes on for a little while. We have just cut back on all the waist. We don't go hungry or cold and to be quite honest we are making a real go off it.I am also going to plant a veg patch in the spring.I do hope you have a happy new year.

Fortunately I am not in debt, I have squirreled a bit of money away for rainy days and certainly emergencies of this magnitude, I just hope it doesn't carry on for too long, there never seems to be a positive sight to the end of this bad economic slump does there? I wish you every success in making money on the internet. I have found making money harder and harder, as there are too many scam sites and sites that go out of business quick, so I am extremely careful at the time I put into sites, because time is more valuable than money and when you spend so much time on the internet trying to earn a bit of extra cash and it all goes belly up then you become disillusioned with it all.

To do the same, I have some old debt that I'm going to pay off this coming 2010 so that 2011 will be debt free and not worry about anything hanging over our heads. Its such a burden to think that if every creditor I owed money collected at the same time, I don't want to owe anybody anything.

We are going to really focus on cutting down on expenses by using gift cards (that we received for Christmas), points, and coupons. We are going to try to work more and I am going to try to make a bit more money online.
We're lucky to both have jobs.
We have a lot of debt, and I'm trying really hard to see this as a challenge instead of a crushing weight.

I plan to pay off bills this new year. I don't plan on buying a lot of things. No more house wares or wants just needs. I have a very large bill to pay off as well. So I plan to pay it off one by one till it's finished. Happy new year
