Roses red, violets blue, a penny for every deletion, whats your view?

Hi just thinking if a person could just read through the discussions and always see the clue that it is pending deletion and bet a penny on it, you could make a fortune.Whats your take on that, is there always a clue in each of the discussions that are headed for mylot cemetery? I have read and reread all the info at times, but a few times I really did not find the clue, til I got the dreaded notification that my response because it was on this particular discussion had also been deleted and gone to the mylot cemetery .

If we are aware of the Guidelines then we can easily spot the discussions that will be deleted. Sadly there are many Lotters who think that if senior users respond on them it is because they do not contain a violation and then they respond too. That is not the case. There are many of us who land on discussions which we are certain will be removed but we prefer to help and advise someone else rather than post to earn. There are plagiarists here again and those discussions appear to be perfectly ok - then they go along with the user's account too

hi diana I usually can spot them so just failed a few times, and Ihave had some mixed feelings when responding in order to help a newcomer to realise he or she has broken a rule. You know I did not really think that others might see me responding and maybe not knowing all the rules either just follow me. Oh my thats sort of hard to deal with as I may have caused others to get their responses deleted also. Yes the lamb brought up some political responses that someone has swiped and one of them was mine.Which surprised me in a lot of ways, as I rarely respond to political discussions as it gets too heated, and I am a bit too sensitive I guess. But there it was and I felt really angered too. I always try to be honest and not break any rules, then someone comes along and uses my response.

They have followed me too Hatley so we are both to blame - but on the other hand, if they were aware of the Guidelines they would have known that we were only helping out. I don't go into politics. I think I have been twice in the whole time I am here. It's not a topic I discuss offline either.

I totally agree because I recently responded to a discussion from a newby and even warned them that they should read the guidelines because a post like this may get deleted. Then I did answer their question. What is ironic though, is today I tried going through all my discussions, (Yeah, it was a pain and I know this post didn't get deleted, but I can't find it), and some of the things I am warning newbys about is similar to ones I started when I was new. I feel bad, because I got credit, but I was new and lost and I think maybe someone who is new, should have a little leeway, until they get use to the site..I don't know, just a suggestion, because if a newby keeps getting their posts deleted, they won't like it and won't be active here. It takes some learning, at least it did for me and I am still confused..lol.

This is a funny way of putting it, Hatley, lol! I never have noticed any clues, myself. I have responded to some discussions where I got the notifications that my responses have been deleted because the discussions were deleted, though. Have a great day. Kathy.

I responded to one by a regular friend last night, but knew it would be deleted. It certainly was today. I forget, sometimes, that what is acceptable on my one site is not acceptable here. It really does not bother me though, as we still exchanged some information.

hi Kathy and GardenGerty I also have been guilty of responding to some I knew would be deleted as I could see this really new newcomer with only four points so far was really lost,so I tried to explain why it would be deleted and hoped he or she would take it the right way. lol

There are some clue as to violation of myLot rules but many other times I am clue less. Like my discussion about how happy I am, which had nothing to do with earnings or violating mylot rules, got deleted. It's good to find other discussions about elation and happiness going strong after the research I did. but why mine!? The answer I am still searching.

hi mimpi yes thats what I am wondering, I do wish they would let us who lose responses also know just why the discussion was deleted. I can see most of them but there are some I just cannot figure out why they were deleted unless my lot admins really thought there were alreadytoo many like that discussion.Happiness should not be anything that breaks rules as we all would like to be happy most of the time.

I can't tell most times. But whenever I see some idiot post a referral link I know where it's headed! I stay away from those discussions because while I enjoy posting here I don't enjoy wasting my time on something that will be deleted. Can you share some clues with me?

hi dragon54u I stay away from most of them asking about the same questions that are in mylots questions and answers as those almost always get deleted. Also if there are a whole flurry of discussions made on some current news event that evokes outrage, and a lot of mylotters all put this in their discussions at the same time, not knowing the topic had already been put in a discussion. Also any discussion that comes out and asks for donations is headed for mylot cemetary or that tries to use their discussion to gather customers for their particular business.

If I were to bet on that, I could probably come out ahead. More often than not, it's obvious what will probably get deleted and what won't. Once in a while I get surprised though!

hi dawn I thought I was pretty good at spotting obvious rule breakers too but several times lately I got surprised too and went back and looked and I think those were some that made discussions that had already been made about a news item. I think because for awhile mylot was not really pushing some of the rules I got used to seeing those that I wondered why they were not deleted, so when they really started to do away with the ones they had missed I at first was careless. but now unless its a person I feel I could help I do not respond to those asking questions that my lot a dmins had already answered.

I have been puzzled by deletions in the past. Sometimes I don’t get it at first and eventually the penny will drop and I will see the reason why the post is gone but there have been many that have left me stumped. I have wondered if it may be the direction the discussion has taken with comments going back and forth or the fact that the post is plagiarised that has caused deletions. I can predict the majority but there is still the odd one that I cannot figure out.

hi paula I can usually figure out the ones asking to be deleted as they ask the same old questions that those in the boxes above them also asked , I do not understand why if they see a friend get a discussion deleted for asking that question mylot had already answered they would go ahead and make the same question into a discussion? go figure as my son would say.sometimes they may be deleted because someone else already posted the same exact topic written much the same way

Sometimes I see one coming and answer because I want to, anyway. Like the one last night. I could have warned her, but did not. I think most older users skipped the discussion. I am not too upset about points and pennies, as long as people are nice and polite.

Hi Hatley, I don't know if I'd make much, like you it is sometimes hard to determine what post will be deleted. Even after all the time I have been here, I had one deleted and seen my friends deleted too. I thought that we were allowed to talk about other money making sites, (after all there is an interest called making money)as long as we don't provide the link in the post. But a friend recently had hers deleted before I could even respond to it..

hi bunnybon I had been doing very well lately then found one that got my response deleted as I had thought it was a good discussion, while I have seen some that I know have broken a rule and they are still here. I often wonder if it is okay to report those or would mylot admins get all upset seeing they have not been deleted after several weeks.

Interesting thought to make a fortune that way. Except for one small point: Who would we bet against? I understand what you are saying though. It's frustrating to see a discussion, not see anything wrong with it and reply...only to have it deleted.

catdla1 yes because I did go back and read and reread all the discussion material and questions and answers and this particular one looked fine yet I got a notification that my response was deleted because the discussion I responded to had been deleted. Although usually in going back I can sort of see why maybe if one ponders long enough it might have broken x rule.

hi ifa May I make a suggestion that will not make you angry,as I am not preaching at you at all, really I am not, but sometimes I know I have read the guidelines and missed something, so if you would take a little time to read all the information mylot gives it will help you immensely in figuring out which discussions might have broken a rule and will be deleted. okay?.

hi ifa you are most kind. no my time is all day, have more time than money as I am retired and do not have to hurr out to a job, I sort of feel guilty reading how many of my friends here have'to work and also raise a number of children and all I have to do is mylot most of the day. course I guess I did pay my dues during all the years I got up early also to go to work.but I worked as a nurses aid and either you love it and keep on doingit or you hate it and quit.

It would be okay Mrs. Hatley, I understand it. I know your time is very precious. I had spent many times to learn the information that MyLot had given, I have some clues about the discussion that will be deleted. But in repeating discussion, i have to learn more . Sometimes i just get trapped to make one even i had make a search about it. Thank you for your suggestion, and i am not mad at all. You give me more knowledge.

Hi Hatley. I usually know what to spot when a discussion will be deleted. Sometimes it will be fairly obvious if it is breaking the guidelines but then I am sure we have all been caught out at one stage or another. One thing I look at is the tags. If someone has reported the discussion and tagged it accordingly, I will avoid it. The tags can give you some good information especially if the discussion itself seems fine. Most of the discussions that are tagged with anything that suggests that it is a violation usually are deleted in my experience.

hi the zone you brought up a good tip I had not thought of , the tags as I had noticed after the fact that one I had misjudged had been tagged probably get deleted. Now had I read that first I would have bypassed it in deed. After all its not much fun to make a lengthy response only to have it deleted as you missed seeing it was a rule breaker.

Yes, I too have noticed that many of these type of things are happening with the new comers. I too let them know some times. It depends on the feel I get when I read their discussion and responses if they will heed what I say or not. You can sort of tell. So I won't waste the time. You are right about the fact that with all the deleted discussions we respond to, we certainly could have a lot of money by now. I know when I post to most of them that they will be deleted, and I tell the one who posted the discussion that it will be. I do try to help knowing full well, I will lose earnings too, but it isn't all that much to lose unless lots get deleted in one day, then it becomes a bit troubling. I am not here to just earn though, but still I don't like it when I take the time to give a sensible response and then mylot deleted them because of violations. I will still help others as much as I can, and hope that they realize that they can't keep doing what they are doing and expect to earn. Good luck to you and have a very good day.

hni rosekiss I still do that often as some maybe are having a hard time if they use English as a second language but still they are going to have to learn to read the guidelines and rules and too if they have enough English to make discussions they should be able to figure out the rules. what irks me is the ones who say oh I read the guideline but would rather have you explain as you are an elder here. that's just being lazy as this was an American who uses English all the time. lazy that's all.

Sometimes when you have a discussion that ends up in the mylot graveyard you don't even realize that you've done something wrong until it has ended up there. The most recent discussion that I had deleted, I mentioned something in passing but it wasn't the topic of the discussion and yet the admin seemed to think that the accidental error was the point of the discussion. However, with the exception of that time, I really can see the discussions that are likely to disappear.

hi dorannmwin YOU know that was one that I could not understand why it was deleted and I think I suggested complaining to mylot about it as it to me did not seem to break any rules that I knew. usually though I can also really see that they have broken the rules specially theones asking questions that they could have had answered by going to the my lot questions and answers, also the money making ones as I think some are almost word for word duplicates of others.
