For me Elvis Presley is The King of Pop, not Michael Jackson. |
| |
| Sorry, all you MJ fans out there, for me,even if i am in the minority, Elvis rules the roost. For the present generation MJ has been their idol but hark back to the 50`s and 60`s when Elvis was at the top and you will see why he ruled the music world.Elvis brought about a revolution in music with his brand of Rock `n Roll and his delivery style. He was very versatile and could sing the most frenetic of numbers like Jailhouse Rock,Blue Suede Shoes and All Shook up and in the same breath sing soft numbers like Love me Tender and I Can`t Help Falling in Love. Elvis had a great personality and excessively handsome looks. He was very manly and his voice also reflected manliness. Girls, women would swoon when he started singing or when he appeared on stage and when he did his ' Pelvic thrusts ' the audience would roar their approval.Elvis was a great entertainer, singer and dancer and there will never be anyone like him | | | | | |

| | hi crazydaisy and jotomy, both of you are correct. I have nothing against MJ, he was the King for the present generation and Elvis the King for my generation. Both had similar lives, immense popularity, controversies, loneliness at the top and finally in a bizarre way a similar tragic death. | | | |

| | You are right Elvis was the King! He had an amazing presence and his voice was fantastic. I always thought that Elvis was the King of Rock and Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. I loved M.J. because I grew up with him and his music. He was only two years older than me when he passed and like Elvis there will never be another like him. | | | | | | |

| | Elvis was and always will be, the King of Rock 'n Roll. As far as Pop is concerned, the only thing that Elvis was in that regard, was the King of Pop-ularity! Rock on bro. Long Live The King! cdrxo | | | | | | |

| | Elvis was not just the King of Rock n Roll but he was also a versatile singer. He has also sung slow romantic songs too. In those days rock n roll was the 'in' music and thats why he was called the king. | | | |

| | Quite true. Elvis had a voice that no other artist could ever match. His range was absolutely amazing. You know, even today if you ask anyone to play some Elvis, no one reaches for their Elvis Costello records. You don't even have to mention his last name, and people automatically know who you're talking about. Oh and by the way...who ever said that Rock 'n Roll was..."out"? R'n R is still going strong. A lot of TV advertisers these days seem to be recognizing that fact, since they've been using it in many of their ads, rather than create new jingles for their products. Even some of the older rock bands are making a come-back. So like the song says: "Rock 'n roll is here to stay, rock will never die." Cheers; cdrxo | | | |

| | These thoughts of Elvis make me think of my mother right away. She is a huge Elvis fan. She was never that much into Michael Jackson. Elvis was the king to her. She still plaays his music to chase the blues away. Elvis did so much to bring his style of music to the world. There will never be another Elvis. There will be many who try to copy him. but they will fail in comparison. | | | | | | |

| | Lets go back another generation to Frank Sinatra, my mom saw him live in New York City when she was young, and the girls screamed for him, just like they did for Elvis, the Beatles and Michael Jackson - even fainted I never cared that much for Elvis, might say I liked MJ's music better, even if I didn't care for him. I'm a Paul fan... | | | | | | |

| | I think that Elvis was the older King. Michael is like the prince. They are both so much an icon that they both need a title. Elvis is the king! He always would be but then where does that leave Michael? | | | | | | |

| | I loved Elvis, too. But his life was very sad toward the end. Uppers, downers, etc. Elvis was more rock and roll than pop. | | | | | | |

| | I don't know Wooden Heart, but the other 2 are beautiful. Rock n Roll was only Pop for my generation. The older generations hated it. They tried to get Elvis's Pelvis banned. | | | |
