Identical like peas in a pod. Is there no end to similar discussions?

First a lot of us wrote duplicate discussions on the many snafus
this past weekend. Most will be deleted . Have we learned our lesson again as again most of us wrote duplicates on the alerts we all received?, Does anyone not care that if our fellow mylotter
respond to most of these they will just lose their earnings? Seems
to me if you saw more than one just like what you have just started to write, that you would cease and desist from yet another copy.
Does not anyone ever read the rules for discussions any more?Your
take fellow mylotters..

Hello Mrs. Hatley!
I think as people in general some simply panic and do not apply common sense. I am however glad that deletions do take place as maybe that will clue some to be more careful and not start so many as they do. It is a pattern and one that will not end with this one.
It is not only the glitch but anytime something hits the news the loads of repeats occur here too. I guess because it is so easy to start discussion many just do so thinking they are the only ones doing so.
Responding to the repeats is optional and I only do so because feel it will further confuse other members by them starting them, so I don't mind the deletions and expect them. Sadly some members respond to discussions through their emails and not realize what is actually taking place on the boards.
We as active members can only continue to apply some wisdom and hope that many will understand.

I tried to answer quite a few, simply because I was getting a lot of PM's which were sad to read. There were several members who had obtained some referrals during the glitch period and because they were new were so disappointed not seeing earnings.
So I figured if many of us who are active here and entrust myLot could alleviate some confusion it might keep from loosing members.

Oh yes it happens with newbies and the people who are more keen to earn from it and yes they had hard time seeing the same figure for aroung 5 days on the home page
.I already knew it because it also happened when i was new here around 3~4 months back thats the reason i never doubted MYLOT and knew it will be fixed soon.

I didn't write any. I didn't even know there was a problem until I started seeing discussions about them. I only responded to one though.. not any more than that. I don't like losing earnings, so I will try to stay away from discussions that will get deleted. 7 people like this

hi pointless questions am having my typing disappear so am copying as I write.I have also stopped responding to them as why lose my
own earnings just to soothe someone else who is going on about the problems here. I need myown earnings.having to copy to clipboard slows me down but having to retype is much worse. lol

Too funny. I leave for what seems like ages and yet the same THINGS are still occuring which was part of my reason for leaving. Anyhow, awhile back, I did a test. I gave a discussion I started with an odd title and the subject matter was completely off the topic line. Yet many members answered the discussion along the lins of the subject matter having not read the discussion.

We have a friend here now that does that a lot, she just got very impatient with the ones that jumped on her discussions but had no clues. I find that discussions based on your personal experience do not get duplicated as much though. I forget sometimes to make things clear and have confused some people with my discussions this week, but they are not native English speakers. I guess I tolerate that more than those who just get lazy.

But but... some duplicates serve a purpose after all!
They are food for those who come here and have their fun reporting.
They certainly had their hands full this last week
When I did mine about the Alerts it was the first - but I guess that it fell under an individual issue according to a comment on here. All be it if that was the case and my topic had no substance in it really
Sad though that some think that there are two sets of rules and that they can get away with things because they do them off the radar, forgetting that everything goes through the homepage

yes petersum Diana was the first and no diana I did not report anyone I am not mylot gestapo I feel horrid that anyone would
think I reported anyone for these discussions as I did not and
I did not intend this discussion to point fingers at anyone/.why is everyone so up tight on mylot right now? I have not reoported anyone save the mylotter who insulted me deeply and really hurt me.we reported each other I guess..Is it because of all the snafus and
glitches on mylot that everyone is touchy? and for all the information about my deleted discussion was because of a flaming
war. I now know to keep away from this person . she gets a charge out of singling me out. Her remark that Goldcrest must be giving me free cable really hurt as its not at all true.I pay 40.99 dollars per month for my cable so thats not free at all.I do try my best to remember the rules and not break them and I will not apologize for that at all.

Hatley I am aware of that problem that you have here. In no way did I think that this topic is wrong or that you had fun reporting those topics and I was not referring to you anywhere at all.
Stine please read my response again. I did not (and never do) 'backstab'. Nor was I referring to 'everyone' but indeed to some. I have no idea who reported them except for yourself as you tell everyone that you did. Admin would have found them by himself I'm certain as the tags made it so that they all showed up together in the 'similar topics' column.
However I am aware that there are those who report the violations that they see but then go on to violate with their own activity, thinking that they can get away with it. Surely that is wrong and not healthy activity?

It'd be a lot easier to avoid duplicates (this discussion is also a duplicate, I suspect, hehehe!) if the myLot search engine didn't suck. Unfortunately, that's one of the areas where there are never any changes despite the number of requests people make.

The search engine sucks. The interests list sucks. The topic subscription system sucks. The friends management sucks. I guess that's just the way it is.
On the other hand, the people are awesome!

Hello Mrs Hatley,
Yes i also have observed last week there were lot of duplicate discussions like there were so many related to MYLOT glitch and about alerts.
It shows that people are least concerned about the guidelines and don't read the old discussions but just want to start their own.
I knew sooner or later most of the duplicate discussions will be deleted so i kept myself away from these and i think thats the best way not to repent afterwards when we find the notification of our response being deleted and loosing some cents.

Good morning Hatley and Msd. I have been looking for a discussion to get on with for a minute. I guess I missed all the glitches and duplicate discussions about same. Maybe that was a good thing.
I'm glad to see you here mysd. I have been hit or miss myself lately but haven't seen any new discussions by you. I hope your life is calming down a bit.

Knowing that they might be deleted, I still responded to many. I know not to start discussions related to site problems, but some people seem so confused, I did feel like answering them. No, we get so excited, many of us do not learn. Many of us do not comment on responses either. I do not think I can change people who do not want to change, so I try to talk about something else. I do not search for similar discussions, but most of my discussions are so personal it would be hard to duplicate them.

hi garden gerty yes some new comers i think were panicked as they have had other sites turn out to be scams and I c an understand
that feeling. I do not search for other discussions much as I work
from my own personal life so it would be hard to duplicate mine
tool. hi bunny bon thats understandable and I would never come down on you for that either. I am having some odd problems here as sometimes my typing shows up when it should then again the letters start to slowly show up , grrr Ihave searched too and f
found nothing then seen some similar but oddly mylot admins
did not delete them.I have tried to keep up with comments but
oddly on several of mine a year old I found aq lot of responses
I had not commented on.I think that at that time I was having
problems with my computer and was off line.I have always felt
strongly about commenting back on all responses. bunny bon this is not meant to come down on anyone really sorry maybeI worded it wrong.

Duplicate discussions have long been in existence in mylot and is liken to an incurable cancerous disease. They keep popping up and the admin wasn't that strict before and allowed the discussions to remain. But due to numerous complains from members themselves feeling bored reading the same old subjects, admin decided to take actions on duplicate topics. Unfortunately mylot has no facility to detect duplications and are deleting them manually when they come across any duplications of posts. It must have been a tedious job for them these past days as the site has been swarmed by tons of similar discussions that have yet to reach the admin attention. Most people float the laws here unintentionally. It is up to admin to enforce the penalties to people who have break the rules.

Yes, duplicate discussions are annoying and quite boring. I would much rather spend my time doing something fun and entertaining ... like playing Scrabble, for instance.
I have been told that I am pretty good at Scrabble, so maybe it is one of my "hidden talents".

Hi Hatley
Even I have noticed many duplicate posts here about mylot problem since few days. I don't know why people are not understanding the things. They aren't checking the old discussions about the same problem. Some seniors even started discussion about not to worries about those problems still they are going for them. And today its all about those ALERTS. Hope they will understand its not going to any benefit for them. Admin will delete them all.

And after awhile doesn't anyone get bored and want to see a new
topic?as for earnings I really do need mine and cannot say oh I dont mind losing them because I do as I am just scraping by on the whole huge sum of 125 dollars I get to keep after the room and board

I am always curious about how one can write about a topic and do it in a different way. Often discussions are deleted because they are written in a way that doesn't follow the guidelines. If they thought about it they could write it so that it did pass the guidelines. I wonder if people even give it any thought.

hi celticeagle yes there are ways you could rescue say a poll type thing by not surveying anyone but using yourself as an example
ask fellow mylotters what their take is on a certain issue. it has to do with wording it right so it does not sound like you are quizzing every ome at all.I don't know if people realize this or
not.I think Alex of GoAskAlice said something similar too about how to avoid poll type questions.

I think we've also been around a few times even in the two months I've been here about "Don't people ever read the discussion guidelines." So maybe this is also a duplicate with a slightly different twist. I think maybe the other discussions might have been subdiscussions under those duplicate discussions this weekend as old timers told everyone they should read the FAQ. 2 people like this

Actually, discussions about the same subject matter that approach the topic with a "slightly different twist" are generally not against the Guidelines, because they are trying to have a different perspective on the subject. Then again, unless you are extremely creative there are only a limited number of ways that you can approach many subjects, so I am sure that some of them are the same.
