I think my cat must know that we are trying to save the pennies and cut back on things, he must have really been trying to help us out as.......
He has caught 3 mice today and brought them to the back door, looking as pleased as punch!!
Now I am very pleased that he is trying to help .. but I don't think 3 mice will go round five of us, also I don't think I fancy mice on toast!!!
Has your cat caught anything today?

Though I've had meeces in the house in the past, they didn't make an appearance this year (that I noticed!) It would be interesting to see how the Kitten's training has been working out for Him,as every time I go into or come out of a room,My ankles are being attacked from behind, and I was watching a very entertaining few minutes of detergent ball soccer last night when it fell as I was emptying the machine..My last cat brought me a rabbit back one time,(Memorable!)and birds at other times..and I remember him being totally bemused by a large frog that was on the doorstep one night when I was letting him out!

The ankles are fine,it's more of a "Tacklehug" when he jumps at me,it's when he's climbing my shins to get to my lap that he's digging in a bit..thankfully now he's getting to the stage he can get on my lap in one jump the shins will get a chance to recover!

I use to have a cat that catches rats in our yard before I discovered that rats are attracted to left over dog which I now remove after the dogs eat. My cat does not eat any part of the rat but just slays them with a single bite to the jugular or neck area, you just hear a blood curdling rat scream at night and you already have a body to dispose of in the morning.

They're always so proud and just have to bring them as a gift. Doesn't necessarily have to be mice either. I've received gifts of bitty birds, big grasshoppers, moles and whatnot. I always say "thank you" and reward with treats. She always brings them in and doesn't try to eat or anything.

I think they bring those things as presents! don't they? my cat Tom is very keen on lizards he gets them in the garden and bring them inside and also the other day he got a bird luckily he left it in the back yard! and of course he got another lizard today.

heheHe wanted to show you that he is useful. My mother got cats and my mother in low got one cat also. I remember one time he brought dove and he put this poor bird on the balcony. The cat was so proud. He wanted to show us that he is useful and this dove brought and place on the balcony was a proof of his friendship. Cats are not very kin to share and you should appreciate it. I wish you lovely weekend my friend. By the way how your cat look like?

My cats dont do this as much in the winter. They really catch very little if anything. There is really nothing to catch in the snow! But during the summer, all small animals need to watch out or meet their end! The cats each have the specific things they like. One of my cats is into birds, one is into bunnies and the prefers mice. They will kill several mice and then my dog takes over by throwing it all over the yard and running for it.

Not today, but in the summer she was bringing me presents every day. I think she cleaned out an entire colony!

Lucky you, Barbara. May we suggest that you also try traps baited with, seriously, PEANUT BUTTER. It works.

Lol!!! The things cats do. Once my daughters cat had kittens and i was awakened by the cat at the door. When i opened the door there she was with i bird in her mouth for the kittens. I quickly closed the door. The bird i found out later got trapped between the heavy door and the screen door. I found out later cause when i did get up i opened the door and found only the wing tips left. The mama must have just figured she bettrer eat it herself.
The cats i have now are minx and i dont allow them to run around outside. I dont have mice but they keep bug population almost to a zero. Since cats that catch mice are called mousers i figure mine would be called buggers.

I don't have any cats but around where I live we have wild cats that live in the bush. They are clever though and they watch me closely. As soon as I open my front door and go back to the car to bring in shopping or something they dive in the door in a flash looking for food. They are totally feral and cannot be tamed. They are actually a nuisance and I wish that they were not there s they are disease ridden. and no, we do not have an animal society or anyone to help us. I am sure that of they saw a mouse they would stand aside and let it enter my home

It really generous wanted to share it with you~(^^)
We don't have pets here so I got nothing from them. Plus if there is any cat out there in my residence, believe me the cats just want to play with the mouse they meet. really they did not know that they can eat them and have them as their dinner. When the cats see the mouse they will start play hide and seek.hehe...Those cats are not a good helper I think.(^^)

Hi Anne,
I don't have, nor did I ever have a cat. But I did have a jet black cocker spaniel once who liked to stalk the birds who would take bird baths in the soil beneath our stand of pine trees. She would sit there still as a statue and watch them, one day, she actually caught one!

Our cats is soooooo lazy. You can't even ask her to stand up and go out..Geezz,You will need to take her wherever you want her to go..
That is why i won't be surprised to see mice running around..

I do not have a cat because my husband is allergic. But I remember having one as a child. My mom got it to get rid of the mice. It worked for a while but then the cat and the mice became friends! My mom walked into the bathroom and caught the two eating out the same bowl! She was so mad she shooed my poor cat out the house :(

Yes so am I! Cats are the best animals to have. They are not noisy like birds. You do not have to walk them like dogs. All you have to do is feed them and love them!

Thankfully, no. LOL But, aren't cats generous? They love to share what they catch... usually. My cat will sometimes happily munch away on his newest catch without offering any.
I've had to put my animals (two dogs two cats) on lockdown recently. Well, lockIN would be more apt since I've had to lock the "doggie door" so no one is going outside. We're having an issue with fleas this year, for the first time since moving here 4 1/2 years ago. I haven't even SEEN a flea until this year and now I'm having a really hard time getting rid of them. So, the cats and dogs have to stay inside until we have a really hard freeze to kill all those pesky insects outside while I battle the ones inside.
So, no mice for now, unless they get inside on their own but I haven't seen any in the house in a long time. I guess they know that there are a bunch of sharp claws and teeth inside.
My cat's last conquest was, I believe, a vole, but that was back in the summer. We have lots of voles around here, more than mice, actually. He's caught squirrels, voles, moles, mice, rabbits (babies), birds and chipmunks in the past but either he's slowing down or he's just running out of wildlife around here. (I'd prefer the latter.)

I have always had cats but not always had mice around the place for them to catch. I am no longer in John Day but when I was, my cats would catch grasshoppers when they were in season and present them to me. Since moving, my female cat, Misty, stayed with the house in John Day that I am renting out and my renter took her as his own. Now I only have Chester and he has been an indoor kitty since the move as we are not in permanent housing yet. By next spring I am sure he will be outside again and bringing me gifts of grasshoppers once more.

That's real cute! I mean, the part where your cat offered you something is cute but the mouse part is not that adorable when you think about it :P Thanks for the offer of having mice for tea but for health's sake... I think I'll pass!
It's amazing that pets sometimes do something to alleviate stress from their masters :D I wish my mom's a pet lover. My dad and I love pets and want to have a dog as pet but my mom's against it and at these times, my mom's word is LAW! Lol!!!
