Hubby and I went to this new sandwich place in town today. While eating, the owner came over and started chatting with us. She mentioned that she also owns the local diner, which she has owned for many years and it's a very popular little place although hubby and I rarely ever eat there anymore. We used to before she owned it.
We didn't live in the area at the time, but hubby's parents did.. and whenever we'd come out this way to visit them I had to stop at the diner because they made this sandwich that I absolutely loved!
It was similar to a reuben, but instead of saurkraut they used cole slaw, and they used ham for meat. They called it a Dagwood (though in other places a Dagwood is a large sandwich filled with different kinds of meats).
So I told the owner this story and about this sandwich, and she wrote down how to make it and said they would start serving it.. and not only that, they'd name it after me!
I think that's pretty awesome!

Wow, at least they appreciate your effort to telling them an inspiring story that is why they name it after you though. I would love to taste such sandwich too. I never try it before and now I am kind of curious about it. Hopefully you can upload a photo of that sandwich for all of us to see.

Of course it is awsome.. It is beautiful... You see, people will read your name in the menu card... As the sandwich is very tasty, your name will be famous.. It sounds real big to me.. And remember, all it was through your genuine appreciation of the sandwich... Genuine appreciations, heart felt comments always generate a kind reaction...
Have a good time!

They were naming it Amanda's Dagwood. I haven't been back since to see if they put it on the menu or how it turned out. I probably should get in there sometime to see if it meets my approval.

When I used to have it at the old diner it was good coleslaw. I am a bit picky about my cole slaw too.
The original diner called it a Dagwood.. so she is going to call it Amanda's Dagwood.

This is so cool! With lick your name will be on the menu or there might be a photo of you on the wall with a picture of the sandwich. It would be awesome to autograph it too.
Your sandwich is a nice switch up from the traditional Reuben sandwich.
Enjoy the sandwich and the fame!

Wow...I'm impressed! You're in really special company, you know; not many people have the honor of having a sandwich named after them! It sounds very good, actually. You'll have to give me directions to the restaurant and if it's somewhere I ever pass by I'll stop and have one!

After the diner changed owners and stopped serving the dagwood, we used to make it at home. I haven't had one in awhile, so I can't wait until they get it on the menu and I can try it.

I congratulate you!
I think it is fair that she wants to name after you a sandwich that wasn´t in her books. I hope they make it as good as you remember it though.

Funny that I should read this discussion right now because I actually decided to have reubens for dinner. The sandwich that you are talking about sounds like it would be really yummy as well. I'll have to try that one out the next time that I'm in the mood for a sandwich.
I actually have a friend that always eats at the same deli every day and he has a particular way that he likes his sandwich done. They did recently make a line on the menu "Larry's Way."

Well , having a sandwich named after you shows that the owner of the restaurant really likes your recipe.
Like someone already said here , your story also inspired him.
I personally had a nice solution to solve something in a subject named "automatons and deterministic modells" and the lecturer decided to call the solution after my name. That solution was an elegant way to make a solution to many questions of the same kind , and it felt like I helped humanity with something. You know , like , making a patent.
Well , life can be very surprising. And we both did it for free :) we are good people. give me 5 lol.

WOW katsmeow, what a great story...and yes thats really awesome!!!!!
And whats even greater is while you are there in line waiting to
order and hear someone else ordering the "katsmeow" or whatever
your true name is,,,Now thats going to be real awesome..With them
not knowing that it was named after you and they are really right
next to you will be nice....Especially if they start discussing
how delicious it is...
Good going,,,maybe it will become so popular we may hear about
it on the news.....wishful thinking, but who knows....LOL....

That is really neat. Maybe someday when people have that food they will wonder where the name came from and maybe someone that is told where it came from will know you and that would be cool :) Sounds like a pretty yummy sandwich for a meat eater. Hopefully you get to go there and try it when they have made it and see if its as good as the others that you've had.
